Lovely hotel, wonderful service, great staff. We just spent 3 nights at Hotel Place D'Armes and could not have been more pleased. To start with, we were celebrating my husband's birthday and the hotel made sure this was recognized "right out of the gate". It's an interesting hotel, made up of several combined buildings, and the flow has been managed with lovely nooks and crannies for relaxing or privacy. Our room was lovely and of a very ample size. And it was quiet. We found the location to be PERFECT. Old Montreal is the place to stay, yet not being smack in the middle of the bars and restaurant is actually preferred. This hotel is exactly that. While all the staff was helpful, we want to give a special shout out and thanks to: Jonathan - concierge, Jade and Nick - front desk. Thanks all for a wonderful stay.

Great location to walk the city sites, restaurants and shops. Felt safe and supported by hotel staff all the time, with suggestions and tips. Very relaxed atmosphere at the hotel. Rooms are specious and provide great amenities. Great value even though was around Formula 1 and rooms were on high demand. The management was on hand and ready to assist as well as the concierge, with booking tours or events. Thank you for making my solo stay so relaxed and special.

Hotel Place D'Armes exceeded every expectation across a wonderful 2-night stay. From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the staff set the tone for everything that followed. The concierge, So So, was truly exceptional. She showed genuine, personal care that made us feel like valued guests rather than just visitors passing through. That spirit carried over to every staff member we encountered, who were warm, attentive, and always went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The hotel also surprised us with a bottle of champagne to celebrate my birthday, a thoughtful gesture we didn't expect but deeply appreciated. My daughter was equally delighted when the spa team treated her to a special nail experience -- the kind of personal touch that turns a good stay into a memorable one. The rooms were immaculate, the restaurant delivered, and the location could not be better for exploring Old Montreal. Everything you want is steps away. We will absolutely be back. My only regret is I did not write this review sooner.

When we booked a penthouse at a luxury hotel, we thought we were splurging on a very special experience. This is not the kind of thing we do often and we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment: THE GOOD - The location is perfect. - The service that we received from the concierge team prior our trip was stupendous. Ricardo, the chief concierge, was a delight to deal with. His recommendations were extremely thoughtful and tailored to my requests and both restaurants he suggested were outstanding. I also appreciated the thoughtful birthday gift that greeted us in the room. - Valet service was also consistently excellent. - The architecture and basic design of the penthouse suite was breathtaking. The room felt like a small apartment and featured incredible sixteen-foot ceilings and very cool exposed brick elements. THE BAD - The hotel feels a bit dingy and dated. Halls are dark. Keycard scanners and room phones were both quite old. The phones did not work well and repeatedly dropped calls with the front desk. Furniture was wobbly. - The bathroom was huge but not great. There was a waterfall shower but not nearly enough pressure for one. There was also a very large, tacky plastic jacuzzi-style tub that didn’t really work and that launched into an automatic cleaning cycle that produced a terrifying loud sound that lasted for at least five minutes. No one warned us about that. - Housekeeping was almost nonexistent. We stayed two nights and housekeeping never cleaned our room (although someone did drop towels off one day). No turndown service was offered or provided. Bizarrely, one night someone did enter our room but they only left two chocolates and two bottles of water and did not make any beds or even remove any dirty dishes. Very strange. - In general, there was a lack of attention to detail. For example, a bulb in a prominent light fixture was out. A cloth bag that contained a spare roll of toilet paper was noticeably stained. - The real reason for the poor review is the atrocious service we received from the front desk throughout our visit. This started with a somewhat disorganized arrival and check in during which important information (for example, that water in the room is complimentary or that the bathtub makes an incredibly loud sound) was omitted. Things went downhill from there. On a number of occasions I called the front desk and no one answered. On our first day we wanted to make some coffee in the room but could not figure out how to operate the machine. Somehow this situation took almost two hours and at least four phone calls to resolve. We finally figured out how to operate the machine without any assistance from the staff. We then discovered that there wasn’t a drop of cream in the room. Incredibly, it took them over half an hour to send some up to our room. During this entire ordeal, no one apologized or showed even a hint of urgency. When I explicitly told the young woman at the desk that I was frustrated with the delay, she did not even acknowledge me. Instead she literally hung up. When we checked out I told the front desk that I was disappointed with my stay. They expressed the mildest of regrets but otherwise did nothing. This visit was not without its high points—the concierge was particularly excellent and the room was cool despite its flaws—but the experience was not commensurate with the price.

We had a wonderful 3 nights at the beautiful Hotel Place d’Armes. I planned this getaway for my husband’s “special” birthday. The front desk staff knew this, and gave us a beautiful upgrade to an executive suite. We absolutely loved it. All of the staff at the hotel were wonderful, especially the Director of Rooms, Alejandra. We were looking for a nice restaurant for lunch on one of our days and she actually walked with us down the street to figure out what cuisine we enjoyed most and gave us a fabulous recommendation. She had so much energy and enthusiasm. We loved her right away! The restaurants and lounge areas at the hotel are amazing as well. Even the doormen and valet guys were great! Overall, one of our best hotel experiences ever, and we travel a lot. Highly recommend!

At the Hotel Place d’Armes, we arrived very late one night and had an unbelievable late night dinner at the adjoining restaurant. The hotel itself is very nice and well-maintained, and the rooms were great. I contacted the concierge beforehand and they really set me up with some great advice on restaurants and things to do.
