We were on a trip to celebrate our 50th anniversary, and our honeymoon was a trip to Quebec, so we traveled through Montreal. We had just one night to spend in Montreal and we used Bonvoy points to stay at the Ritz Carlton. The exceptional service provided by each and every member of the staff, beginning with an email from Florence Svoboda, ensured that we had a wonderful visit. I only wish we’d been able to stay longer! When we arrived in our beautiful room we found a bottle of champagne and macarons, plus a congratulatory note from Florence. Even though we had reserved our room using points, I feel like we were treated like guests who had paid for the most expensive room in the hotel. Thank you for a memorable visit and for an example of true hospitality at its best.

After a successful business trip in Laval, I decided to celebrate by having a nice breakfast in Montreal before heading to the airport to return back to Europe. Based on all the positive reviews and my experiences at other Marriott properties in Montreal, I decided for the Ritz Carlton. I arrived at 10 a.m. and waited several minutes to be seated. The terrace view was obscured by black curtains due to construction. The person who seated me was very kind and had a table set where the view to the garden was not obstructed. However, half the garden was in a rather bad state. By 10:15, I was informed the buffet would close at 10:30, so I ordered à la carte instead: Eggs Benedict, yogurt with berries, and coffee. While the coffee arrived swiftly, my food took 35 minutes. Asking for updates only yielded, “just a few more minutes.” As soon as the food arrived, the bill was placed, leaving me feeling rushed. Once I had finished, my server was nowhere to be seen. A very kind server came and apologized when I told her about my experience. She said the kitchen was busy, that’s why she recommended to the guests that she served to opt for the buffet. That is information I had not received from my server. She offered me a complimentary coffee to go, which I declined since I had already had 2 coffees. After that, I went to wash my hands and there was no soap, so I had to switch to the next washbasin. The kind server’s apology was appreciated, but this disappointing experience was far from what I had hoped for, and it felt like it was definitely not what Ritz Carlton stands for, nor an experience worth spending $90 on.

One of my top favorite hotels in the world, wish I could give it 6 stars. We stayed here last year and I loved it, so was very happy that we ended up back in Montreal and could stay here again. Service is impeccable, I felt it as soon as we stepped out of the cab. They are just excellent. I booked a junior suite, they upgraded us to a corner. There was a lovely plate of fresh fruit welcoming us to our room. When I had to extend our stay unexpectedly, they handled it smoothly and immediately offered me the same rate, as well as noting that I could still check out on our original schedule if I needed to as I finished sorting out our plans. It’s obvious the entire staff takes enormous pride in this place; the bellman even rode up the elevator with me to finish telling me a story about the history of the hotel. The room was fabulous (I particularly loved having a fireplace, so cosy), the Palm Court restaurant is great, and I only wish I could travel to Montreal more often to stay there again.

this is probably the nicest Ritz we have stayed at. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless and everything is in working order. You cant say anything more. Communication from start to finish was excellent. Would stay here again for sure. Thanks Ritz Montreal TEAM!!!!
