Riggs Washington DC is housed in a former bank building, thoughtfully reimagined into a striking boutique hotel that blends neoclassical architecture with playful, design-forward interiors. Guest rooms and suites feature rich textures, custom furnishings, and subtle nods to the building’s financial past, including safes and vault-inspired details. Amenities include a fitness center, curated programming, and lively communal spaces that feel both sophisticated and creative. The overall theme merges history with modern personality, creating a stay that is as visually compelling as it is comfortable.
Dining, wellness, and location define the experience. The hotel is home to Café Riggs, a grand brasserie serving French-inspired cuisine in a dramatic former banking hall, as well as Silver Lyan, an award-winning cocktail bar known for its inventive drinks and immersive atmosphere.

Can't say enough good things about the room, staff & food!

The hotel was well-located, just across the street from the Smithsonian American Art Museum and located in a small lively shopping area. The decor of the hotel was unique and fun, and the rooms were clean. Service was great. All round a luxurious and fun stay.

We celebrated our wedding here and can't recommend the hotel or venue more highly! The staff are truly fantastic, the pinnacle of hospitality. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. I recommend eating at the Cafe and having a drink at the Silver Lyan. The vibe is classic but not old-fashioned. The location is in the middle of Chinatown in downtown, DC. It is immediately across the street from the National Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum and within sight distance of the Capital One Arena. Rooms are beautiful, sparkling clean, and quiet (despite being in the middle of town!). Finally, the quiche is one of the best I've ever eaten.

I really wanted to love this hotel as the property is beautiful, but unfortunately service falls off. From the beginning to the end we had terrible experiences with the staff: when we checked in the front desk employee was rude and unhelpful- more concerned about moving on to the next guest than assist us. Then during breakfast at the restaurant, the manager told us that waiting time for a table was “two hours” - which was clearly made up as there were several open tables that never filled up (I guess he wanted to “save” those for customers without breakfast included like us….) Then waiting time for food or any service was super long given that they were short staffed or hired inexperienced employees. I really hope they improve their service quality and professionalism pmas these made my stay quite unpleasant and unwilling to go back.

We had a great time at the Riggs hotel. Staff was very friendly. Mr. D.C. (the bell captain) knows all there is to know about D.C. and where to eat. He is extremely helpful and friendly. Honestly, the staff here made the entire trip much more enjoyable.
