5 Star Accommodation in DC's Best New Neighborhood

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

I absolutely loved my stay at Pendry Washington DC - The Wharf, and cannot wait to go back. The hotel boasts a contemporary and stylish design, with the service top-notch. When you check-in, you are greeted with a complimentary welcome drink that you can choose to make alcoholic by the team at Bar Pendry, which was a plus as I arrived on a hot day and it was super refreshing. I also did the Boozy Afternoon Tea experience at Bar Pendry which I highly recommend. The location is absolutely perfect, right on The Wharf. My room offered stunning waterfront views and the hotel provides easy access to an array of dining, shopping, and entertainment options along the Wharf. The hotel is also an ideal base for exploring all that DC has to offer. I arrived by metro which was less than a 10 minute walk away, so super convenient to get around. I also walked to the Mall and other major DC attractions in 20 minutes! The hotel's amenities are just as impressive. Moonraker, the rooftop bar and restaurant offers 360 degree views of DC and the food and cocktails are delicious. The fitness center is well-equipped, and the spa offers a range of luxurious treatments. Bonus, a pool with cabanas - perfect for the summer months, Overall, I could not recommend Pendry enough. I loved everything about it and look forward to my next visit.

Modern, elegant, stylish retreat

I can’t believe it took me this long to book a room here. The staff is very friendly. The hotel is beautiful. Lobby bar cozy. Moonraker bar and restaurant on roof is nothing short of spectacular with great views of the Potomac, and amazing drinks and food. This is my new favorite hotel in DC.

Moonraker is pompous and disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Moonraker is consistently pompous and disappointing. The restaurant staff is arrogant and you never feel welcome. this location is beautiful, but i wish the customer experience was better. Hotel seems lovely--and concierge was very nice!!

Hotel Great. Moonraker not great with more than 4 people.

The overall experience was great. We had a late night check in. Brittany at the concierge was amazing with every request we had. We called ahead to let them know we would be checking in later in the night. We were told it was a good thing we called so they did not give our room away which I found weird seeing as it was already paid for. Not sure if this is standard across other hotels. They did not have extra cots even though that’s offered as a request when booking. They were able to give us extra blankets and sheets for the sofa bed which was nice. The checkout experience was also nice as the woman at the concierge was very personable and friendly. Only reason for 4 stars was the Moonraker dining experience. We had a party of 5 and were squeezed at a 4 person table where we were given a small cushioned backless stool as the 5th seat. We did not have any issues with this since it looked like they did not have tables to accommodate more than 4 people. The only issue was when we received the check we were added a 20% “pool service fee”. When we asked what that was we were told it was because we had 5 people. I’m not sure if this is your typical 20% gratuity charge for more than a specified minimum persons but it seemed like we were just being charged extra for having an extra person. Keep in mind it was 3 adults and 2 children. And we did not take up any more room than a party of 4 would have taken. We asked multiple people and they did not offer any further information or offer to remove it. We paid it but it left a bad taste in our mouths after having such a great experience otherwise. I wish the greeter would have mentioned that upon arrival so we knew what to expect. Again overall the experience was nice. The hotel was clean and all the hotel personnel were friendly and helpful. I would not dine at the Moonraker again especially with more than 4 people.
