Bluefields Bay Villas rings with authenticity. It’s a rare all-inclusive experience where guests are immersed in the Jamaica that existed before tourism - staying in cottages isolated from each other and the rest of the world. This is the leeward side of the island, so the waters – and life – are calm around here.

Friends and neighbors consistently praised Bluefields Villas as a paradise, urging us to visit. We finally made it there and it certainly lived up to its stellar reputation. We spent a week at Mullion Cove, an elegant, well-appointed family home with a gorgeous verandah where we had all our meals, sipped cocktails and soaked in the spectacular views. The setting of Bluefields is idyllic: houses are tucked away in a sheltered bay and the warm waters are calm and crystal clear. The sunsets were spectacular and we loved spotting different bird species and seeing pelicans hover over the sea. We also took advantage of the yoga platform adjacent to the house and spent many hours reading books, swimming and relaxing on the pretty, private beach. Our chefs (Nadia and Kimona) paid close attention to any special food requests and butlers Tevin and Sydonay went the extra mile to make every meal special. They upped their game each night in terms of romantic table settings! A highlight of our visit was a trip to nearby YS Falls where staff had packed a fabulous picnic of fried chicken and other treats. We also did a snorkeling trip to a nearby reef which was very pretty and Rudo, the captain and life-long resident, shared his local knowledge of Bluefields Bay and surroundings. But what really stood out during the week was the kindness and generosity of staff, who take Jamaican hospitality to another level. We were impressed by the resiliency and professionalism of staff and how much rebuilding has taken place at Bluefields since Hurricane Melissa last year. It's nothing short of miraculous when considering the strength of the hurricane and damage to the region. Staff have worked tirelessly to restore Bluefields and it is up and running! If you get the opportunity to go, don’t hesitate. Bluefields is the perfect tonic – peaceful surroundings, excellent service, good food and an attention to detail from staff that is hard to beat. Plus, you’ll be putting funds back into the community as a portion of the rental currently goes into rebuilding efforts following the hurricane. We can’t wait to return. Thank you to the Moncure family and their fantastic team for a memorable stay.

My husband and I were looking for a warm, low-stress, all-inclusive, 5-day get-away from the DC area, and Bluefields Villas checked all of our boxes, and more. We stayed in Cottonwood Cottage, which was positively lovely on all counts, from the high, 4-poster king bed ensconced in white-lace mosquito netting to the high ceilings with strong fan, from the beautiful, floor-to-ceiling louvered windows looking out over Bluefields and the eponymous cottonwood tree to the thoughtfully appointed living and bathrooms (with indoor/outdoor shower), Cottonwood Cottage was outstanding. In addition to the cottage itself, we had a private, covered outdoor pavillion for our meals, where the breeze was perfect and every meal was set with antique china and silver, and a beautiful private pool with its own waterfall, as well as a private patio overlooking the bay. But it was the staff who really stole the show. We are unaccustomed to having a personal butler, chef, maid and concierge, but our 4-person team at Cottonwood was outstanding -- helpful, kind, and thoughtful in taking care of our needs for our stay. The rest of the staff on property were incredibly friendly -- from the informative experts tending the lush foliage to the fun-loving team handling the water sports -- we thoroughly enjoyed interacting with everyone. One thing to think about is your preferred level of activity: we were looking for a low-key, self-contained stay where we could relax, read our books, play cards, and soak up a little sun and pool time with a few extracurriculars on the side -- so Bluefields was perfect for us.

The entire property and suites are tastefully decorated. The glass on the generously sized balcony allow you to enjoy magnificent sunset views, with lush greenery in the front and ocean beyond. There is a small but lovely pool with infinite views. The staff is very accommodating. Food options were good and the personalized service was impeccable. You have to take 10-15 stairs down to the dining room (with the BEST views!) and then more stairs down to the SMALL beach with a bar and kayaks. To walk on the stretch of beach you must exit the property and then it’s a very short walk down a the road to access the public beach on Bluefields Bay. There is no access to the longer public beach directly from the property.

I don’t normally write reviews but this place was special. Trip Advisor is on crack and has regretted my review 4 times because it says “it seems like AI wrote this”. Originally I was looking for a new destination to surprise the Wife for her birthday. I found the resort on the Hilton app under the SLH collection. The descriptions on the Hilton app doesn’t do it justice. The pictures looked amazing so I checked flights and learned Southwest has a direct flight from BWI. After I booked the stay I called the resort (DC area code) and arranged a car transfer from the airport and learned the owners also spend time in Washington DC which explains the DC area code. After talking with the staff I learned the resort is inclusive which also wasn’t described on the Hilton app. The resort’s website is more informative in all aspects than the Hilton app. This part of the Island was absolutely rocked by a category 5 Hurricane in late October 2025. Living in DC I remembered hearing about it on the news but didn’t comprehend the impact it actually had on the Island. To say the least our stay at the Providence House at Bluefields Bay Villas in Jamaica was absolutely unforgettable. From the time we boarded the flight we were in communication with the staff on WhatsApp and learned we were receiving an upgrade. I was hesitant to show my wife the upgrade because it couldn’t be right but it was. On arrival in Montego Bay the concierges Jemelia, and Arianna from Bluefields walked me through the arrival process and linked us up with our driver Jimmy who picked us up in a very clean BMW X5. Jimmy was super cool and was happy to answer all my touristy questions and repaired a cooler full of drinks for the ride to the resort. Because of the Hurricane the roads weren’t great but the ride offers us a chance to see the rural parts of Jamaica you don’t normally see. Long story short we were lucky enough to get the upgrade and boy was it more than we expected. When we arrived the staff team was waiting for us in front of our Villa like something out of a movie. The staff made us feel completely taken care of. The private chef, Shamrakaye prepared incredible meals every day — truly some of the best food we had during our entire trip. The steak on the first night was so tender and delicious that I begged for the recipe! My wife is a Texan, and said it was the best steak she ever had. The butler, Jovanie was attentive and thoughtful, always making sure we had everything we needed, and the housekeeper, Tamara kept the home spotless throughout our stay. The gardener, Roheilo also kept the property looking beautiful and lush, with fresh flowers in the mornings. The private pool overlooking the ocean was the highlight. We spent hours relaxing there and taking in the views.

Just returned from a 5 night stay in one of the Suites! A very unique luxury experience. There are only 4 suites (so max occupancy of 8!) which allows for a very intimate experience. There are 4 villas for larger groups but they have their own chefs and butlers. The suite itself was beautiful. Very cool architecture- including a shower that opened to the ocean front balcony. That large balcony had beautiful sunset views as well as a soaking tub. The suite was also very clean. The meals are served in the “Treehouse” restaurant on very formal elegant China. You have a choice of 2-3 entrees for each meal and a small dessert is always served. There were two different chefs and one was much friendlier than the other though the food was fabulous! The beach is small but nice. Mon motorized water sports are included. It does take about 90 minutes from MBJ - about 60 minutes of those are on really poor streets - potholes like I have never seen! The driver said they are building a highway that will cut the time in half. We did 2 couples massages. No spa on site so the therapists came to our suite and set up on the balcony. Lovely! If you are looking for a crazy time with pool activities and karaoke this is not for you. But if you are looking for a place to recharge and get spoiled you should book asap! We had never been before the Hurricane so can’t really comments on the before and after but the owners have worked tirelessly to get the resort back in service. Honestly the only disruption we noted was no bananas which is obviously not a hardship. The greenery is starting to grow back. There are still people with no roofs or electricity so we were glad to support the island economy.

Our trip to the Hermitage FAR exceeded our (already very high) expectations. It was my first time in Jamaica - what an unbelievable setting in which to experience it! Jamaica was stunning and Bluefields Bay is serene and untouched. The location allowed for excursions to nearby areas so we had the option of being secluded and relaxed at the villa or being active and seeing the sights. The pictures of the accommodations speak for themselves - the Hermitage was beautifully furnished and constantly outfitted with luxurious touches like fresh flowers, crystal stemware, and a variety of fine china at every meal. We had a blast doing whatever we wanted all day and having our every desire fulfilled by the kind and attentive staff. I can't wait to return!

There are so many adjectives that come to mind to describe our stay, I'll keep it simple with INCREDIBLE. I seldom find things actually live up to the "hype" but Bluefields does that, and more! The staff was so attentive and the accommodations so luxurious, we felt like royalty. We would definitely come again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to everyone we know.

We were drawn to Bluefields Bay Villa's San Michele property's very own private beach, pool and personal staff. The unobtrusive yet attentive personal staff consists of a chef, who prepares meals three times daily using fresh local ingredients, a butler, a driver, a housekeeper, who also tends to your laundry, a groundskeeper, a nightwatchman and a manager, who will plan day trips, spa services or other needs. The owners of the Bluefields Bay Villas have created a safe community by employing local residents, some for over 20 years. Two percent of the proceeds from renting the villas go to a community fund which supports local schools, necessary infrastructure, agricultural and educational needs, all while preserving the natural beauty of the land and sea. It is truly an all inclusive, restorative and peaceful getaway.
