Reviews for Grand Velas Los Cabos

Amazing experience, great Staff, food, location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

Wonderful atmosphere with friendly, helpful staff. Our room was spotless and offered a stunning ocean view. The food was superb, beautifully presented, just delicious, our kids enjoyed every moment. Elena Salazar at the pool delivered exceptional service, and Ana, our personal concierge, was outstanding. We were fortunate to catch a glimpse of the whales. The beach is absolutely gorgeous like something out of a magazine. Unfortunately, it’s not suitable for swimming. Overall, thanks to the warm staff and amazing cuisine, we can’t wait to come back.

Special Anniversary Couples Trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

My wife and I opted to book Grand Velas for a four-day anniversary trip. It is our first all-inclusive hotel experience, and we were not disappointed by any aspect of our stay. The drive to/from the airport is only about 35 minutes. From the moment you arrive, you are treated by every staff as royalty in that when you encounter any employee, generally, they stop what they're doing, make eye contact, and say Hola, buenas (time of day). It was initially unsettling for someone who hasn't really experienced this level of service. But, I grew to love it and tried to speak a bit of conversational Spanish (without any patent judgment) with many staff and my impression was that you could ask anyone for anything and they would stop what they are doing to help you. This was a great time of year to come. It was 85 and sunny every day. Wednesday and Thursday, the resort was pretty empty. Friday and Saturday a lot more families with kids arrived. We reached out to the pre-arrival concierge about 45 days before, and I'd recommend you do the same in case there's a special event that might ruin your preferred dining plans. Thanks to our early planning, we were fortunate to snag a reservation to the Five Culinary Minds experience at Cocina de Autor and experience speciality dishes from five Michelin star chefs in one kitchen. The accommodations were spectacular. We had room 204, which is a regular ambassador suite. It was a bit less accessible to everything with only one elevator servicing the floor, but once you learned the layout, the stairs are more functional anyway. The view from our room, both from the room entrance and our patio, was breathtaking and photo-ready. We saw large, crashing waves and whales each day, including a family of 3 whales maybe 3/4 mile offshore. The room was spacious and fully stocked. The bathroom is also luxe. Housekeeping came twice per day, including turn-down service. Room service was fast and fresh the couple of times we used it, even at 12:45 am. If you wanted to hear the waves, you could open the patio door, but if you closed the doors, there was no noise. The quality of the restaurants (Loto, Frida, Velas 10, and Cocina de Autor) was impressive and the locations and settings were romantic and clean. I didn't love all the food I ate, but I did like most of it. The waiters again were quick, professional, and courteous at all of our restaurants. Often, when we discussed our options with the waiters, we would learn of wine pairings and recommendations, often with Mexican wines. We liked the coffee at the lobby coffeeshop, Azul for breakfast, Ceviche for lunch, and the Boutique Hotel's Bar (fire pits) and Koi Bar as well. Only complaint about the pool bars is they did not always have the included tequila of choice (Don Julio 70). The yoga sessions on the gym terrace just after sunrise were nice but bright. We did the spa's water ceremony twice. Once as an appetizer to the Meeting of the Souls ritual/ceremony, and the other as part of the vacation package we purchased. The massages were very good, and the private plunge pool and bathroom left for us were very nice. The outdoor pools were excellent with plenty of chairs, umbrellas, and staff on hand to meet your needs. We loved the beach chairs and exploring the rocks and beaches. There are iguanas and crabs all over the rocks - just bring shoes. We had the beach and its chairs to ourselves most of the time as it is not safe for swimming, and the lifeguard will come get you out if you go in. No bar/food service down there, but it's a short walk to Azul. We also enjoyed professional photographs with Bond Photography. It only took about 35 minutes around sunset, and we did love several of the shots their photographer was able to capture. I've saved the best for last. Our concierge, Tony Castro, was awesome to work with. We shared humor and fun via text messages and he always seemed to find us around property just to check in and say hello and ask if there was any special requests for our anniversary. Anyone would be lucky to have Tony looking after your wants and needs while here.

Amazing Honeymoon at Grand Velas

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We spent our minimoon at the Grand Velas this past week and had such an incredible time. The food was several steps above any other all inclusive we’ve ever been at. All of the staff were also so nice and helpful whenever we needed anything. Astrid was our butler and she was especially so accommodating and even made sure our wedding cake was kept safe so that we could fly home with it after our trip. We 100% will be coming back!
