Can’t wait to come back!!

We had another great experience at this resort. Last time was great, and this time was even better. During our check-in, Alonso handled our reservations and answered all of our questions. After check-in, Rubicel gave us a brief, but informative tour of the grounds. Maria & Itzel were our concierges. They were beyond wonderful. Both of them went above and beyond for us. We were very grateful of all their efforts. Bryan was responsible for our bag delivery. He was friendly and prompt. Our room was great. We had so much space. The bed was huge. We even had a phone in the toilet. The balcony offered nice views of the ocean. With plenty of space, we even had a hot tub, table/chairs. The WiFi had a strong signal. The staff made a daily effort to combat the seaweed that plagues the beaches. The sand and water were both nice. Since we were traveling with a 3 year old, most of our time spent at the water was in the kids pool. We did get to try out the infinity pool though. Although we didn’t take advantage of the spa on this visit, we did visit the hydrotherapy. Emmanuel assisted me, while Erika assisted my wife. Erika helped to move us from station to station. She was very pleasant and answered any questions we had. We visited the Mexican restaurant twice during our stay. Our first visit, we had Carlos for our waiter. Our return visit, we had Eduardo. Both of these gentlemen were great waiters and very attentive. Our visit to the steakhouse, we had Ediberto for our waiter. He was great. Such a nice smile. My family and I had Silvano and Carlos while we dined at the Italian restaurant. Both were great. At the Hibachi, Juan was our waiter and Jacil was our master chef. Juan was great and Jacil’s talents know no limits. Such skill and talent. Every morning for breakfast, Josefina made the best omelets. Our dinner at the Italian restaurant was great. Pedro was our waiter. He recommended the chef’s special. I was hesitant, but pleasantly surprised. It was very good. He even had the chef, Alberto, come out so we could meet him and pay him some compliments. We had another great stay. My family and I liked it so much that we booked an extra 2 nights during our stay. We can’t wait to come back in the near future.

A lovely holiday

Overall we had a lovely stay. Its only 20 minutes from the airport so a good transfer after a long flight from the UK. We were greeted warmly at check-in and our concierge Alexis was very helpful - showing us to our room and giving us useful info for our stay. It is a very clean and safe hotel. The first 5 days we stayed were very busy with large groups of guests from the US for weddings at the hotel. This made for a few noisy interruptions late at night as some guests were there to party, unlike us who wanted to sleep. I mentioned this to Alexis and he called me the next day to say they had more staff patrolling at night. I was impressed by this service. The second half of the trip was less busy. Good choice of restaurants - we loved the Teppanyaki experience which you could book. The others are first come, first served so we had a few waits for the Italian but you can get a buzzer and go the lobby bar for a drink. The pools are good and the entertainment staff around the pool are friendly - especially Uzzi and Eric who are welcoming without being over the top. On occasion the music by the pool was too loud but great waiter service and the barefoot grill and 24 hour coffee shop with ice cream was perfect for the kids. The arcade is great for the kids and Lizzy who supervises was so friendly. Reserve sun loungers early unless you are prepared to tip. Ok beach but we preferred the pool. We organised to go swimming with the dolphins and Chichen Itza via a guy who is based at the pool concierge - he was really helpful. Wouldn't recommend the snorkelling - paid USD 60 for 35 mins in the water and didn't see much. Overall a lovely holiday.

Great experience over all. Stayed in a great room with a swim out and had amazing service right to our back door from Santiago and poolside from Domingo. The staff was all very accommodating and helpful. There are a lot of weddings here. At least 2 a day.So be prepared for that but it was no issues whatsoever. Plenty of space. Food was typical resort food with a few standouts from the Mexican restaurant and the seaside morning breakfast. Buffet was pretty basic but easy to get in and out of with the kids. Seaweed was definitely present but they worked diligently daily to clear it daily. Made the ocean a bit less ideal than other tropical sites but I wouldn’t say it took away from the experience. Would definitely recommend to a friend. Thanks to Itzel and Maria for making our stay pleasant . Thanks to Alfredo for helping use get some essentials after the airline lost our bags for a day.

Governor's suite experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We travelled to this resort as a family of 5, staying in the ocean front governor suite for 11 days. On arrival, the preferred club team were excellent and got us checked in swiftly. Due to us being in a suite we also had a private concierge team who did a good job of looking after us during our stay, big thanks to Rosie for taking care of our family. The room is large and immaculate. We particularly enjoyed the ocean front view, private pool and hot tub. The turn down service during the evenings was also a nice touch. We were told that our drinks fridge and snacks would be restocked daily but didn't found this to be the case and had to ask quite frequently about having a restock as we were travelling with an infant who needed bottled water to make up Formula. Sometimes we did need to ask a few times before somebody eventually came which was a bit of a shame. The pool team are absolutely amazing. We were able to swap our beach cabana with one around the pool during our stay which was great and a nice added touch. The cabana team were fantastic, they made up our bed every morning and provided cold towels and massages most days. They were very friendly and nothing we asked for was too much trouble. The bar team were also amazing. I believe the waiter was called Ricardo that served us and we didn't even need to ask for drinks, he would bring them as soon as we had finished and our cold water was also topped up without having to be asked. AMAZING! The entertainment during the day was ok, some days were better than others. During Easter the kids had the opportunity to hit down a Pinata which they enjoyed and there would sometimes be a live band/pool games but on other days there was nothing. I'm guessing this depended on how busy the resort was on each given day. We didn't see too much of the evening entertainment, perhaps only 3 or 4 shows, once again some were better than others but overall it was pretty good. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. Some restaurants were incredible, both service and the food itself and others not so much. We enjoyed Seaside, Himitsu and Oceana the most. At Portofino, we had one meal which was very good and another that wasn't. But we really didn't enjoy the Mexican restaurant, we went twice and both times we were left very unimpressed with both the food and rude service. Overall the food was mostly good but we weren't blown away with it. A bit more choice at the breakfast buffet would have also been nicer but everything we had there was good.

The beach was over ran with seaweed and one day it was not, and then the next it was, so beware of the possibility of a not so pretty beach, but if you walk down for 25 minutes on their beach you will find really blue water! The restaurants are pretty standard and the buffet that runs breakfast and dinner isnt so bad either if you're looking for a free plate to eat! The hotel itself is pretty chill. The spa prices are insane. The hydrotherapy isn't worth it, but the massage therapists are so sweet and know what they're doing. I did not do any salon services! the bartenders are very sweet, don't forget to tip them, they do so well to remember everyones names and be kind when everyone bum rushes them with drink orders. Rolando, Clever, Christian and Jose from the beach BarAcuda bar are so sweet and fantastic, and definitely made my day! - Mymy
