Hilton La Romana All-Inclusive Adult Resort & Spa Punta Cana

This hotel is sadly not the level you expect from the Secrets chain and definitely not at the "Preferred" level. Disappointing all round. Would not return. The property needs updating. Hot water was at a premium and not guaranteed. Room was very musty even with a dehumidifier which made for damp sheets and smelly clothes. The lighting in the bathroom was often not working. You were unable to close the toilet door as it barely passed the toilet itself. The food was very poor generally in all venues. The buffet was a throwback from covid times. Food was behind glass partitions and you had to pass your plate over the top for them to serve you what they decided you wanted. The tables were often not completely set and missing cutlery and often remained uncleared. One morning wait staff who did not speak English were pointing at my husband's watch and tapping at it to imply breakfast was finishing. They allowed the birds to walk over the table and to pick at our food while we were away from the table even though they were stood next to it. The only redeeming meal was in Noor where we had rib eye steak several evenings and that was very good indeed. Room service was surprisingly good! Food was delivered quickly, was hot and nicer than in the venues. The drinks were poor. Very watery. You may as well have just had water in the first place. We are not big drinkers but we noticed the difference. The "entertainment" was pretty rubbish. Honestly, it was better in Dreams which at least had some atmosphere. The "Preferred Club" was extremely lacking in my opinion. The upgraded mini bar only had 2 cans of beer (that we do not drink), diet soda and water. No alcohol. The upgraded portion was the small tins of plain pringles and packets of peanut M & M's. The Preferred Club Bar/Lounge was nice and relaxing with tv's showing sport. The staff attentive and the drinks were good. The staff on the Preferred Front Desk were unhelpful and could be considered obstructive when we asked questions or pointed out issues we were experiencing. Staff overall were mixed. We found a lot did not understand English and were churlish and some were just plain unhelpful or avoided eye contact altogether. However, Standout employees were Julio (The Manager at Noor in the evenings and over at Dreams during the day). His level of service and level of client attention was top drawer. Also, the lovely Wendi around the preferred pool. She was sweet, helpful and is a credit to the hotel. She remembered names and what you preferred to drink. She was a pleasure to talk to everyday. We noticed a lot of people vaping around the preferred pool and even in the pool. Also people in the pool in clothing and on their phones. Friday afternoons you noticed new groups arriving who were obviously there for a long weekend. They were loud, drunk and rude. It was a pleasure when they left and peace returned. The beach is small. Bit bigger on the Dreams side. Nice to swim. No seaweed (Sargassum) which was the primary reason for going to this resort. The loungers need replacing on the beach. They are old and uncomfortable.

Wonderful breakfast at Mare Restaurant, with excellent service from David Santana! Everything was great, and we had a lovely experience. Highly recommended!

A very relaxing place. Great to unwind. Adults only. The attention to detail is impressive. Great choices to eat, the drinks keep flowing. Infinity pool is a must and the beach is gorgeous.
