Sandals Ochi

This was our fourth trip to Ochi. I have to say the staff here is absolutely amazing. Every single person we encountered was happy and accommodating. We always book honeymoon cottage club level room. We love the resort entertainment each night, especially the steel drum band! The pools are clean, the food is good and the beach is lovely. Unfortunately we did have some issues with the room this time. The first was some plumbing issues, next was some unwanted pets (cockroaches ). We requested a room change, which was granted, unfortunately, the plumbing wasn’t much better in this room, and there was a problem with the ants in the bathroom. We also had a planned transfer from the Ochi resort to sandals Dunns. We spent five nights in each property. Unfortunately the transfer from resort to resort was less than smooth. I did start inquiring about this process our second day into the trip. It seemed as though this is not a common thing and the staff wasn’t really sure how to handle it. I asked for a one hour late checkout from Ochi since they could not guarantee that a room would be ready at the next resort for us and was told I would have to pay $100. I simply stated back. I’m sure you’re going to wave that since I’m going resort to resort. We also received a call at 8 AM our day of departure to head to sandals Dunn’s to inquire why we weren’t ready for our airport transfer. I then went to the front desk and realized the transfer to Sandals. Dunns was never set up.

For a resort experience, it was definitely worth it. The food was good, though I did wish there was a bit more variety. Roy’s sushi was incredible and I wish I went earlier. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t reserve any of the specialty restaurants (Kelly’s was closed) —most of the non-reservation food was just as good or even better. Jerk shack & Mariners were some of our faves. We stayed on hillside and southern table was our breakfast go to. Sasha at southern table was amazing when we went for dinner after arrrival. We were exhausted and she made our welcome and dinner great! Drinks were good overall and, compared to other resorts I’ve been to, actually stronger (especially once we made friends with the bartenders). Shoutout to Maxwell at the pool bar. The daytime events were fun, and I think it would’ve been even better if we had done excursions. (Many were cancelled due to weather) In the future, it could be cool to do mostly vacation with maybe one day of sightseeing, assuming it’s safe and feasible. The resort was easy to get around if you’re okay with stairs/ramps. I have mobility issues and this was a challenge. The hop was convenient, and I’ve also stayed at places where you have to shuttle to the beach side—this was much better. The rooms were very nice, and we got upgraded, so no complaints there. The only real issue was a sewage problem, likely hurricane-related, but they handled it well, compensated us, and moved us rooms. Price-wise, it felt worth it for the value, especially because of the people we met (Kayan, Patrice, Maxwell, & Sasha, and more) I’d pay that price again—ideally with better weather lol. I look forward to returning and seeing Kayan and Patrice again. They made our vacation wonderful with all the small things they helped with above and beyond!

My wife and I spent Feb 1st-Feb 6th here for a delayed honeymoon and had a wonderful time! Patrice from entertainment gave us a wonderful orientation on our first full morning, I would highly recommend the orientation so you can easily find your way around. Patrice was an all star of our stay - she brought the energy to the pool, seemed to always be near the big night entertainment, and was thoughtful and attentive when we saw her. Ashton from the Sundowner bar also deserves a special shoutout. He was attentive, quick with orders, and had a fun sense of humor. Jovi-Ann from the bar, Howard from the piano bar, Toni-Anne from sundowner’s, and Kenau from the sundowner’s were all excellent as well. In general, we very impressed with the attentiveness and skill of the staff given to us and other guests on site. It’s not an easy job, but they made it look easy! Every meal was good- jerk shack, manor bar, soy sushi, and Valentino’s were all standouts. Mariner quesadillas were excellent. Night time entertainment was fun- the amphitheater entertainment, performers in the early evening at sundowner bar, Ms Ethel’s piano bar, and the rabbit hole all gave plenty to do at night. Our only negative was the unseasonably poor weather, but even still we were able to get some sun and comfortably get into the pool most days. The staff also made a great effort to counter the weather with energy and fun.

We had a wonderful experience at Sandals Ochi, and while the resort itself was beautiful, what truly made this trip exceptional was the staff. First and foremost, Kayan deserves special recognition. She was our orientation guide and part of the entertainment team, and she went above and beyond in every way. From day one, she consistently checked in on us, took the time to genuinely converse with us, and made sure we knew what events were happening around the resort. After my sister’s wedding, Kayan even showed up to take photos of our family and personally congratulate her — something she absolutely did not have to do, but that meant so much to us. She is knowledgeable, warm, attentive, and truly made us feel cared for. I honestly cannot thank Kayan enough for the positive experience she gave us, and I would return to this resort just for the employee experience she provided. Another standout was Patrice, also part of the entertainment team. Patrice similarly went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. She checked in on us often, helped get us drinks, encouraged us to participate in events, and made everything feel fun and welcoming. Because of Kayan and Patrice, it genuinely felt like we made two new friends on this trip. I’d also like to quickly mention a few others who made our stay even better. Maxwell and Alicia, two of the bartenders, were absolutely amazing — engaging with our group, serving delicious drinks, and always there for whatever we needed. At Southern Table, Sasha was hands down the hardest-working server we encountered. She was literally running back and forth from the kitchen to ensure our service was fast, efficient, and enjoyable. Overall, Sandals Ochi provided a great resort experience, but it was the people — especially the entertainment team and bar and dining staff — who made this trip unforgettable. Huge thank you to everyone mentioned above for making our stay so special.

Sandals Ochi was absolutely beautiful! Besides the amazing food, drinks, weather, and scenery the staff is what made our vacation exceptional. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Delores in concierge made a point to check in with me daily or sometimes multiple times daily to ensure everything was going well. Favorite bar staff at the beach swim up bar includes Zoe, Odeanie, Akeem (Baby Face), Alisha and really all staff but these individuals remembered us every day and treated us like friends. The entertainment team also went above and beyond to keep us entertained. The female performers at the rabbit hole were incredible. Howard was also an amazing bar tender. I wish I could remember all of our servers names for individual recognition because everyone was amazing. Don’t sleep on Jamaica because of the hurricane, tourism will help the Jamaican people rebuild and you will have a great time.
