Our 5-day stay at Devossion by Live Aqua in Playa del Carmen was hands down one of the best vacation experiences I've ever had. The breathtaking ocean views from my room were a highlight—waking up to the turquoise Caribbean Sea every morning felt like pure paradise. The food was exceptional, with gourmet options that exceeded expectations, and the drinks were absolutely delicious, crafted with fresh ingredients and creativity. What truly elevated the experience was the top-notch service, especially from my dedicated butlers, Guillermo and Martin, who anticipated every need and made me feel like royalty. A must-try is the Cenote Spa—its holistic treatments and hydrotherapy inspired by the Mayan Riviera provided the ultimate relaxation. If you're looking for an unforgettable beachfront escape, Devossion by Live Aqua is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Had a wonderful stay at Devossion by Live Aqua, not much bad to say at all… The layout When you walk into the lobby for the first time you can see right out to sea, despite the fact that there is so much between where you are standing and the sea! The resort has been built so that it steps down from the reception area in stages. It's almost as if you're already looking out from a balcony! The whole resort is very easy to navigate, once you've walked around once you get used to where everything is straight away! And the resort is very clean, it is clear that the staff work tirelessly to keep the amazing aesthetic at its highest possible quality. The room Our room was lovely, it had USB ports which was very useful for us being from the UK, it also had a swim up pool, fully stocked fridge, lots of storage space, an nice shower and bathroom, a very comfortable bed and a big TV with Chromecast! All the rooms were very close to everything due to the amazing layout of the resort, you're never more than a few minutes away from anything! The room had everything we could have possibly needed, from all the necessary toiletries, towels at the swim up pool, several seating options and just a very nice vibe. Food The main place for breakfast is a buffet restaurant, which isn't the biggest I've ever seen, however the quality of food is amazing! There is plenty of choice, you can get any type of breakfast and it covers every type of dietary requirement. Part way through our stay, they introduced a second option for breakfast, which was a sit-down restaurant where you ordered from a very nice menu. For lunch, there were multiple options, if you're sitting at the pool you could grab something from the live grill, which was usually chicken, fish or beef with varying options of vegetables and sauces. You also have the option of ordering from a menu anywhere around the pool which is a really nice option. On top of that there was a fish restaurant and an Italian restaurant open for lunch, which was particularly good! For dinner, again there were several options, a steak house, a sushi restaurant, traditional Mexican restaurant and the Italian restaurant also catered for dinner. Outside of these meal times they also have a lot of options for snacks, including cakes at the coffee bar and pretzels and burgers at the sports bar (which to be honest could do with a better stage for live music). You've also got the option 24 hours a day to get room service which is included, which together with all the drinks at the bars being branded rather than local, and all of the food being absolutely delicious, made for an absolutely amazing selection. The only thing I didn't particularly enjoy in terms of food was the bacon at the breakfast buffet, it was a little too thin and crispy, however this is more personal choice than the food being bad. Every meal we had was absolutely delicious, we made a point of trying every variation of every single restaurant during our stay, and we cannot possibly pick a best of all of them. The bars were all fantastic, at the pool there were servers that go around their designated sections asking if you want another drink (this is one of the best opportunities to tip), and every bar appeared to have brilliant staff, most of which had the ability to make some amazing cocktails! They also have a speakeasy bar which is something I've never seen at a resort before, it's nicely hidden but easy to find if you ask the right person. It's not the greatest speakeasy I've ever been to but I have high expectations in terms of cocktail bars, it's nice to see them giving it a go! Pool/beach The pool has multiple levels to it, some of the loungers are sitting in ankle high water, which is lovely in the hot weather being able to sit on your lounger chilling your feet out. The main pool is very nice and looks over the beach and sea, and there is a second pool just off to the side of the main pool, this is a basic square pool but just as nice as the main pool. The beach is steps away from the pool, and again is very nice, there are plenty of loungers around at any time of day, we didn't once struggle to find a lounger in our 12 day stay. You also have the option to hire cabanas, we didn't feel the need to do this but they did look very nice! The staff are very attentive and there are plenty of towels around so there really is nothing more you can possibly need in these areas. The one downside with the beach is that it's like a shared public area, so you might see families and children down there, I know this is not really a problem with most people however Devossion by Live Aqua is an adults only resort so if you're looking to escape children altogether then this is a thing to remember. Activities Devossion genuinely exceeded our expectations ten-fold when it comes to activities! A lot of the them were art based, huichol art being my personal favourite. There was also several different painting classes, pottery, several mixology classes, wine and mezcal tastings, all sorts of sports tournaments and so much more! It was very easy to find the various locations where the activities were taking place, and every one of them was run extremely well, special mention to Ana who we met during our stay, she ran the bracelet making and we saw her around the resort and at several other of the activities, such a great spirit and a lovely person! I hope she and her employers see this! 😁 Another aspect of the art activities that we found to be really special is that they got their supplies from local towns and villages, it was great to get involved with some proper Mexican art and it was great to hear that they were supporting the local culture (plus we came away with some very cute hand made souvenirs). Spa The spa didn't have a huge selection of treatments available, but the service was absolutely fantastic! We had a couples massage (this was excellent) which came with two hours of relaxation using all of their other services such as a hot tub and steam room included! We also relaxed in a cenote themed pool afterwards, an amazing atmosphere that gave us a nice bit of privacy. Men and women have their own steam room/hot tub/sauna area, which I think is great, but it would also be nice to be able to share this experience with my wife, but I can understand why they'd have separate ones. Still highly recommended, the prices are a bit steep but trust me it's worth it! Service All of the staff we encountered at Devossion were extremely friendly and helpful, they didn't appear to be begging for tips and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend tipping of course, especially the room cleaners and people serving food and drinks, these people work extremely hard and the dedication they put in to make your holiday as relaxing and comfortable as possible really shines here. It is important to remember that this resort only opened in October, it was previously a Hyatt resort, saying that it is possibly the best resort I've ever had the privilege of staying at! There are a few tweaks that need to be made but they are still in the process of transitioning. Overall I cannot recommend Devossion by Live Aqua enough, if you're headed to that part of Mexico you'd struggle to find a better place to stay! If I could give ten out of five stars I would!

We stayed at Devossion by Live Aqua from December 20th to 27th. I usually don’t write reviews, but the level of professionalism, care, and attention to detail during our stay truly compelled me to share our experience. Although there was an initial issue with the airport transfer that was supposed to be arranged from Cancún Airport to the resort by transportation company but everything changed the moment we arrived. From that point on, our experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The check-in process was seamless, and we were generously upgraded to a suite, which included the service of a personal assistant. Catherine and Luis were exceptional and elevated our stay to a truly luxurious experience. I have stayed at several high-end resorts in the south, but this one stood out as something different. We never had to ask for anything, everything was anticipated and perfectly arranged. The food was outstanding. For the first time, we didn’t feel the need to visit a buffet. While the number of dining options was not extensive, the quality of food at each restaurant was exceptional. The drinks were equally impressive, with a high-end selection throughout the resort. This experience would not have been the same without the personal assistant service, and Catherine in particular made our trip truly memorable. Thanks to her care and attention, our stay felt effortless and special. We will definitely return again next year.

I’ve been at Live Aqua Playa from Dec 17th to the 27th. Stayed in room 369. First time here. My overall review will be excellent, this resort is a real gem I think. I’ve been to Playa many times, and this resort overall is the best. So let’s get into some details and observations. Room: the room was big and clean. Big shower, dual sinks, separate water closet, and back to back storage which is fantastic. Soap and amenities in the bathroom are good. The bed is fine. I asked for synthetic pillows because I’m allergic to feather and it took a bit but I finally got them. Also on the bed only has a duvet which is standard down here, I had to ask to add a top sheet and they did that. Room was cleaned by Danny and he did a great job. Minibar always stocked with water and beer and soft drink and snacks. Gio did a great job in keeping it stocked with what I liked. Air conditioning worked fine although it was still humid in the room. Balcony is small but who cares about that. Pools and pool deck: always seems be to open loungers and towels and the guys did a great job with all that and the umbrellas. Pools are clean and easy to get in and out of. They aren’t the biggest but there are a lot of them. Pool service is excellent. Adi is fantastic. Always smiling and asking to get drinks and food for everyone. It got much busier after the 25th but it still doesn’t feel overwhelmingly packed. Pool grill every day with seafood, burgers, chicken available depending on the day. Or you can order off the pool bar menu. Pool staff: these kids are fantastic. Starting with Melanie, who is a bundle of energy very day. Ana is a bit sassy lol but she’s also fantastic and fun. The new one is Kathy. She’s off to a great start. And Marlon was a pleasure to talk with. This staff is excellent! Food: First of all, this place has first come first served, not the stupid reservation style at other resorts. So you can always get in. Loved that part. thought the food was way above average for a resort. Some people I met said they didn’t like the food but I’m aware you can’t please everybody. The Italian place for lunch or dinner was very good. Pizzas and handmade and readily available. Lasagna was very good. Carlos (not Santana) was an excellent server The Grill has an excellent filet and Ceaser salad. For a resort the steak is way above average The Sushi restaurant on the 4th floor again had sushi that surprised me. Way above what I expected. Jorge was again an excellent server. Sport bar: didn’t go in there much but they had some good snacks every day. La Cuchina: I think that’s what it’s called. Main breakfast bar down by the pools. Breakfast buffet was excellent again I thought. Fresh omelettes available and everything else for breakfast. Laura and Lizzete are the best hostesses. Concierge desk: many thanks to Gabriella, Aaron and especially Carlos for their great service and help. They use WhatsApp so load that if you don’t have it before you come. Gabriella- you are the best! Check in: was easy and the staff again were great. Bellmen and ladies. Thanks to Jese and the others for their help. A special thanks to Faustino for saving my hat when it flew away and he went into the cenote to get it for me. Entertainment: they had some excellent musicians playing during dinner Location: one of the reasons I picked this place was its proximity to Playa. Walk out the door and up one street to fifth avenue. More Beach: beach area is bigger than I thought it would be. I’ve stayed at what used to be The Royal a lot and that beach is almost gone from erosion. The sargassum was not a problem as far as I could tell. I would highly recommend this place.
