We were very impressed with the resort and its facilities, but what really made the holiday special was the staff. They were very helpful and attentive. My daughter has coeliac disease and we were apprehensive about whether she would be safe at any hotel. We did not need to worry at this hotel: - The preferred club concierge arranged for the chef to speak to us on regular occasions about the types of food available at each restaurant. They would make a note each day of where we intended to dine and let the chef know in advance. - The waiting staff had a high level of knowledge about coeliac. At each restaurant, staff understood the risks posed by gluten and cross-contamination. - The staff went out of their way to make food suitable for my daughter. Chef Jonathan (Oceana) made gluten-free pancakes and waffles. Another chef made fresh potato croquettes with new oil to avoid cross-contamination. They displayed a genuine level of care which I have not often seen. - On our final day, Chef Jonathan in Oceana even made my daughter a special gluten-free chocolate milkshake as a treat! I would particularly like to praise the following staff: Jonathan - Chef at Oceana. Fernanda - hostess at Oceana. Teresita - waitress at Oceana. Yanin - a Manager who often saw me round the resort and asked about my daughter’s dining experience. The chef at the Seaside grill who provided GF croquettes, fries and bread. My children both praised Fernanda M at the kids club. The resort is well-maintained and clean. There are a variety of lovely a la carte restaurants from which to choose and a beautiful beach (albeit some seaweed at times which the staff worked hard to clear). The preferred club provides access to a quieter pool, a preferred cafe and the Oceana restaurant for breakfast and lunch. It is well worth the upgrade. I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel and am already hope to be able to stay there again next year!

Everything about the resort was great. Especially the food all of the restaurants we went on the resort was awesome, however portofino really stood out, the quality of food and service was great. All of the staff here are really super friendly and helpful, they were ready to help us with whatever we needed. 10/10 would definitely come back here.

This place smelled horrible from the moment we stated checking in. We were a group of 9 with 3 kids that went to celebrate 2 Birthdays and chose this instead of our OBX trip. Mistake! The manmade lagoon was supposed to be seaweed free, but was completely filled with seaweed that stank even in the pool. The beach & water activities were unusable. We smelled it on our room balcony. I spoke to the manager about giving us a day pass to Dreams Tulum, but he couldn't. He said ocean wasn't included, but website photos show a seaweed free lagoon. We arrived late afternoon & went to the buffet. The tortillas were dried up & the rest OK. Not a great 1st day. AC in the room didn't work so they moved us to partial swim up room. That AC didn't work, but we were done trying. Hall outside our room smelled like sewage. The pool was gross. It stained our swimsuits. The poolside activities & staff were great. As were the pool bartenders. The buffet was small which made eating there for 2 meals a day too much. They always ran out of bacon & hash browns. Italian restaurant was the best as well as the only 1 w/ AC. They made the Birthdays special w/ a cake. The kid's game room was too hot & some games didn't work. Barefoot grill was best for lunch as was preferred restaurant. Stay away from this place. I've been to this area 7 times & wouldn't come back.

We had an amazing stay at this resort! The entire experience was elevated by the incredible entertainment staff—Christian and Sebastian brought so much energy and fun every day. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a great time, and their enthusiasm was truly contagious. Berenice was also wonderful—warm, welcoming, and always attentive to guests’ needs. The activities were engaging, the atmosphere was vibrant, and the staff genuinely made us feel like part of the family. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

We were looking forward to this vacation since booking in February. We were traveling with 4 kids ages 3-13 so part of the reason for picking the resort was the family suite. The day before our arrival we were informed they were sold out of family suites but would give us 2 kings ocean front connecting rooms. When we arrived they told us that they had no connecting rooms and they were going to give us 2 rooms on the same floor. We told them that was not going to happen and they needed to fix it. They tried to blame our travel agent for the mix up until they were shown we booked the room in February and then they suddenly had a family suite. We have stayed at Dreams before and love preferred because of the privileges. We were very disappointed that the preferred lounge was just open to anyone and in any attire not like other Dreams. We also did not get daily housekeeping or turn down services, something that is an added perk of all-inclusive. We also caught our housekeeping using our phones to take selfies. My privacy felt violated. The area was beautiful and we loved the small town but were very disappointed with the resort overall. It was very outdated and definitely needs a face-lift. The entertainment team was amazing and we absolutely loved Sebastian! I don't know if we would return to this resort.
