Best Grand Velas

Let me tell everyone that this was my 2nd time in 5 months and my niece it’s her 6th time ! This resort is incredible. Our concierge, Ricardo, is so incredible that we can’t visit without him!!!!! Now upon our arrival , Fernando , welcomed us again at lunch as did Daniel by the pool. Shout out to Chef Mario who gave me the BEST shrimp I have ever had in my young 75 years 🥰. Amazing trip, amazing food, amazing SPA and my niece , Jenn, amazing company!! Thank you !!

Wonderful stay at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya

We just finished our first trip to Mexico and stayed at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya -Ambassador Ambience. We travelled with our two teenagers, 11 year old daughter and 16 year old son. It was our first time going to an all inclusive resort and are looking forward to doing it again. The staff there was incredible. Everyone was gracious and courtesy. Each guest is assigned to a personal concierge, ours was Braulio Lopez. He was great in arranging all our resort activities as well as our excursions outside of the resort. We were fortunate to be there at a low occupancy week so their was plenty of opportunities to enjoy all the restaurants, gym classes and tours. The fitness classes at the Ambassador gym were fun. Saul and Edith were very encouraging in their workouts. We also had Nicholas give us a bike tour of the grounds which was fun and informative. Although the resort is not brand new, they pride themselves in keeping the grounds and buildings in excellent condition. The pools are amazing with great service. The Spa at Zen Grand should be visited by everyone. The water ceremony experience is something I will always remember and plan on enjoying with my daughter when she is old enough. The dining experience was great. Whether it's the cafe, breakfast/lunch buffet, room service, drinks at the bar or fine dining, we always felt we were well taken care of. Note the cuisines are influenced by the region and not necessarily authentic. All of us enjoyed the creativity of the dishes. We all look forward to returning!

Top-notch service and gorgeous pools in a remote setting

My family of four had a wonderful time at GV (Ambassador room). Service was consistently top notch, from our concierge (Daniel) to our servers at Azul (especially Antonio). The room was spacious and grounds were gorgeous. We went during low season and literally had the Zen pool to ourselves. We enjoyed Arturo and Frida the most. Piaf was our least favorite. Go here for the pools, not the beach. Enough said. I enjoyed a morning at the spa (another place I had to myself) and the water ceremony is absolutely worth the extra time - free with a service). The most disappointing part of the trip was discovering that the teen club was under construction. We had counted on that as primary entertainment for our teen boys and just wish the resort had communicated that beforehand (or even when we first checked in) to set our expectations. Otherwise, a fantastic vacation.

Great relaxing August vacation for 2 adults + 2 kids under 5

Great secluded location, perfect weather, amazing five star service (sometimes it went so overboard I had to tell our servers multiple times I was serious about not needing another drink!). The kids absolutely loved the pool. The food was super good - probably the best I’ve ever had at an all inclusive. Sen Lin, Lucca, Piaf, Frida (get the seabass special), Chakka all fantastic and nice atmospheres. The kids club was very clean, nice and fun activities for the kids but had a bit too much TV time for us… Ambassador gym was nice, empty, good equipment. We booked using Costco and my wife and I both did the hydrotherapy session at the spa…it was seriously up there commensurate with the nicest spas in Vegas and NYC. Our concierge was ZULY and she did an amazing job helping us book everything on WhatsApp. The kids loved her too. She went above and beyond. We got upgraded from Zen to Ambassador (because I guess Zen was closed for guests when we were there) and it was such a nice view of the ocean + personal pool which the kids LOVED….the room is super spacious and has so many great amenities. The resort was generally very quiet but kid friendly. Complaints: the mosquitos were brutal. I get bit up whenever I’m in Mexico but this was next level especially at Zen. Hundreds were nipping at my legs even after I used bug spray. The seaweed at the beach is bad this time of year and we didn’t realize that when booking. They still do a decent job at blocking it off so the beach is swimmable. There’s a slight lingering sulfur smell near the beach from the seaweed but you get used to it eventually. The pullout bed is pretty rock hard. Our kids still slept fine but it couldn’t have been that comfortable. Small thing but the octopus dishes didn’t taste as fresh as I’m used to. It might have been frozen? Not sure. Cocina de Autor was closed just for the 4 nights we were there…we were super bummed because this was a big selling point when we decided to stay here and we weren’t told ahead of time when booking. We still went to Piaf which was very tasty French food. We also didn’t read the fine print about the “$100 credit for photography” and thought that would cover some free photos only to get the photo shoot done and then get handed a $380 bill (after the credit) for 12 edited photos. We walked away because that price felt ridiculous. Should have told us ahead of time. I guess some people are not price conscious at all. Our photographer was so nice but we’d be willing to pay $200 max for 12 photos.

We had Diana for our concierge. She was prompt, and very responsive to any need or concerns we could have. Also very friendly! 5+ stars for Diana and Grand Velas!
