Reviews for La Casa de la Playa

An Unforgettable Stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

La Casa de la Playa blew us away by the stunning architectural details. Every corner of the hotel is a work of art. Modern luxury meets the natural elements. The staff was warm, attentive and the pools were gorgeous. While we did not spend too much time visiting the Xcaret parks, we did thoroughly enjoy our beautiful room and the resort amenities such as ability to help yourself in the Bodega, wine cellar, and even the chocolatier. Luxurious and indulgent all at the same time! We’re already dreaming about our return! This resort would be best suited for couples and/or those that enjoy a boutique resort atmosphere with all the amenities you could ever need.

My husband and I just returned from an 8 night stay (6/27/25- 7/5/25) at Casa de la Playa. This is a wonderful resort. The private airport transfers were flawless. Check in was easy and quick. The room was absolutely beautiful. It was comfortable and had every amenity you could think of. It was very spacious and the view was spectacular. We loved having our own pool and spent most mornings out there before heading to the beach. I loved having the jellyfish tank in the room. It was very relaxing and fun gazing at them. I utilized the steam shower our entire stay and it was deff a nice touch to have (although I think they could have used a larger size steamer to get it nice and steamy. I think they one they put in was a smaller size than needed for the large shower). We love the spa at Arte (have been on several prior trips to the other 2 resorts) and we did visit again during this stay for a couples massage. It was wonderful as always. I also visited the spa at Casa and received a body exfoliation. It was also very relaxing and lovely. Their massage tables are dreamy. Room service was always timely and each meal was wonderful. We enjoyed our dinner at Lumber the most and had a fantastic waiter. I am sorry that I did not catch his name but he was a tall and slender gentleman. The raspberry croissant at Tuche de Luna is not to be missed. We did the private underground tour Xpelo which was such a cool experience. It is not the same underground river that is open to the public. Not to be missed. The resort is very relaxing and quiet. Most time it felt like we were the only ones at the resort. The hotel is kept spotless as well as the grounds. We loved seeing so much wildlife during our walks. We enjoyed the chocolatier and bodega for tequila tasting several times. They truly set the tone for relaxation at Casa de la Playa. The resort is such a nice size for getting around. Some resorts are so large that it can feel like a chore to get where you need to be. That is not the case here. It is the perfect size and navigating around is not at all daunting. There is someone always willing to help you around every corner. Every need is met with enthusiasm. We enjoyed the freedom of being able to venture to the two other complexes (Xcaret Mexico and Xcaret Arte). It was great for our morning walks/exercises. We did dine at Arte several times and at Fuego at XMexico which was fabulous. Most mornings we would just have breakfast at the buffet at Arte after we completed our walks. It was lovely and many choices. What I love about all the resorts is that there is always something interesting to look at with the unique art throughout the brand. We did enjoy having the option to call for transportation between the resorts and park. We did walk between the resorts most of the time but there were several times I was too hot and tired to walk back and the driver was there within minutes to scoop us up and take us back to Casa. I could go on and on about how wonderful Casa de la Playa is. Trust me it is. We are well traveled have been to many exclusive/luxury resorts and this one tops them all. I would like to mention 3 standout employees: Most importantly I would like to mention the unsung stars of the resort: The beach workers. We visited during a time of extremely heavy sargassum in Playa del Carmen. You would never know that was the case at Casa de la playa. The beach team is out there every day beginning at dawn and they work all day clearing the sargassum and keeping the beach pristine. Pristine!!! Prior to our arrival we considered cancelling our trip due to the sargassum. We are beach people and don’t spend much time at the pools. The beach is the focus of our trips. We really agonized and debated for a week prior to our arrival, even up until the day before. I am so glad we didn’t cancel. That team had the beach looking like a post card. I am sure it is not a very fun or easy job but they work so hard and do a phenomenal job. Our trip could have been a very different experience and certainly would not have been the magical vacation it truly was if it was not for this team. I hope someone from the management team gets a chance to read this this passes along to the team how important and appreciated they are. Their hard work does not go unnoticed. Was our butler Memo. He could not do enough for us and always with a smile. I am sure he had other guest he was attending to at the time but you would never know it. He made us feel that we were his only guests. He definitely made our stay so enjoyable. He would constantly check in throughout the day to see if there was anything he could do for us. Constantly providing extra touches/effort here and there. He was excellent. Another true gem of this resort is Santos the beach attendant. He was an amazing waiter/beach attendant. This gentleman could not do enough. He would notice when my husband finished his beer and come over with a bottle opener to open another one. He would magically appear with another drink the second I finished my last sip of my current drink. He was always offering to move my chair and asking what else he could do. He found a pretty shell on the beach and gave it to me. He was friendly and easily engaged in conversation about the area and culture with us. He was such a genuine and kind man. He worked so hard and was the highlight of our trip. He just exudes kindness and just puts a smile on your face. He is a true gem at Casa de la Playa. This resort exceeded our expectations in every area. The room, the beach, but most importantly the wonderful staff. We will definitely return here. We both work demanding jobs and left here feeling totally relaxed and lighter. It was truly the best vacation we have ever had. I am not sure how we can stay anywhere else now having experienced Casa de la Playa! Mr. & Mrs. Costello

La Casa de la Playa E.Coli Nightmare, 06/13/25-06/18/25

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I’m going to try my best to write as unbiased a review of LCDLP, but bear in mind that my husband and I both have had to take 2 additional days off of work and have both started a round of strong antibiotics due to contracting E.coli. Still reading……. This is going to be interesting! 1) The food at LCDLP is unparalleled. If you love fine dining, you won’t be disappointed. If you sometimes want an elevated quesadilla for dinner and not a 9-11 course tasting menu, you might be disappointed. If you sometimes want to enjoy a meal inside of an hour, then enjoy the remainder of your night, you might be disappointed. That said, our dinner at HA was something that I will remember for the rest of my days. 2) The service at LCDLP was on par with a 5 star resort in Mexico. Alberto and Guillermo were extremely responsive and accommodating. When we checked-in and unpacked, we wanted to utilize the steam shower to unwind before going to bed. Unfortunately, we found that the steam shower did not work. The next day, after finding out that it was going to be disruptive to repair, Alberto moved all of our belongings to an upgraded suite while we were at dinner. THIS is how you address an issue without making it an issue. (We booked the “Wellness Suite” and were moved to room 3304, an “Oceanview Wellness Suite.”) 3) We arrived on Friday afternoon and were extremely ill by Monday night. Guillermo and Alberto were bringing a constant stream of crackers, toast and electrolytes to our room. They were very caring and kind. Conversely, we never left the complex (we had Sunday brunch at Arte, because we were told that it’s a must do). When I requested to speak with the doctor, because of our illness (I’m in the medical field and wanted antibiotics to get ahead of what was inevitably coming) I was told that it would be $130 USD per person to see the doctor. LCDLP knew that we never left their complex and clearly were sick due to something at the hotel, but didn’t offer this as a complimentary service. 4) When they say “all-inclusive” they mean “mostly inclusive.” We brought plenty of USD with us to tip, so this didn’t bother us, but everyone clearly expects gratuity, so come prepared.. Additionally, the myriad of activities that were included were absolutely wonderful. However, it was a little frustrating to pay in excess of $2k USD per night and be told that liquor isn’t included. We did the backstage tour and show (which was a phenomenal production) and didn’t want to drink wine. We were told that wine is included, but anything else is an additional cost. When we were ready to leave (the show is 2+ hours) we had to wait behind for 20 minutes while the stadium emptied, because we didn’t bring a credit card and they were having difficulty charging to our room. When we had dinner at HA, we ran into the same complication- wine was included, but liquor was an additional cost. 5) Additionally, we had read about a fun grill night on the beach on Mondays. We had asked our agent to book this a month out from the trip. Alberto alerted me that this event was sold out. When I asked to speak with Alfredo (guest experience manager) I was told that actually, “there are certain events that aren’t available for all guests to book.” I believe that this likely goes hand in hand with my point below. 6) If you want to relax and enjoy your vacation and are easily bothered- stay in Mayakoba. LCDLP is a newer hotel and it looks like their marketing strategy is to have influencers visit the property. On our first full day (Saturday, 06/14) we sat down at the main pool to relax. 2 young ladies were essentially taking the same photo over and over again for 2 hours on a professional camera, then using a video camera. These young ladies proceeded to then stand/walk/kneel on the leaf lounge chairs directly in-front of us for nearly 40 minutes. Anytime that we were in the tequila room, or the “chocolateria”, someone came in with a go-pro, or a professional camera, so we just stopped going. To book-end our trip, we finally felt well-enough to attempt a meal on our last night. We got dressed-up and went to Lumbre. We love Northern MX cuisine and it was amazing(we highly recommend the bone marrow and NY strip.) During our meal, a woman in a bathing suit came in with a man with a laptop. They proceeded to sit down and edit his YouTube video right then and there. I apologize for the length of this review. If anyone is considering spending the amount of money that even the base room costs for LCDLP, I felt that it was necessary for you to know the good and not so great feedback. The resort is stunningly beautiful with unobtrusive design that blends into nature, the rooms are well-appointed, the service is wonderful and the food is spectacular. However, in our opinion (we are 35+ year olds traveling without children who enjoy luxury travel) LCDLP is not a luxury resort, it’s a mid-range resort with a designer outfit on. LCDLP should hire an advisor from the Four Seasons Group, the Ritz Carlton group, or a tried and true company that has done only luxury travel for decades. Those seeking luxury travel want to relax and escape from high-powered jobs, not be greeted by influencers taking video footage everywhere they go. Luxury travelers also want to be able to eat, drink, shower and brush their teeth freely without worrying about contracting E.coli. I understand that there is a deeply seeded issue with Mexican infrastructure that makes this difficult. In our stays at the Viceroy in Riviera Maya and the Rosewood Mayakoba this has never been a concern. Mexico is a beautiful country with wonderful culture and I’m so sad to say that thanks to LCDLP, I don’t think that I will ever be able to get my husband to return. While there were highlights, we lost a week of vacation time, my birthday was ruined and what was meant to be my “reward” after going through IVF for a full year left us both so sick that we could barely get on the plane home

The Service is Unmatched!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This is a TRUE 5 star, all-inclusive resort. From the premium lush bedding, to the over the top amenities, and personalizations from the staff - everything was top notch from the moment we found a LCDLP representative at the airport for pickup to the moment we were dropped back off four our departing flight. Special thank you's to our butlers Alan and David who went above & beyond to make us feel special during our 5 night stay celebrating our 5 year anniversary. They had a bucket of sparkling wine & dessert delivered on our arrival day just before dinner for happy hour and again a few nights in. They were so helpful with dinner reservations and making slight tweaks to our schedule while onsite. The staff is what really sets this place apart! All pool and beach staff took such great care of us, special shout out to Santos who never let our drinks get to empty while on the beach one afternoon! Kevin at the lobby bar is also incredible and makes the best drinks - 10/10 for his lychee martini. Basically if you want something here, just ask- staff will absolutely do their best to accommodate as best as they can and make sure you're happy. Sky Bar is where we spent many afternoons enjoying the daily dj's that they had up there for some upbeat music which was very fun. Xpeleo was such a unique experience that we would absolutely recommend taking advantage of if you like adventure and are ok with getting wet and crawling through some tight spaces on an early morning. Our guides Luis Filipe and Akari took such great care of us and made us feel super safe while explaining the history behind the caves & helping us to learn more about the stalactite formations. Such a cool experience. Sunday Brunch was also a very fun experience once we made it inside. It is hot, as other reviewers have said, especially waiting for a table (which doesn't happen at LCDLP so is a one off experience for this) but we found it to be worth it. Had the best sushi roll I had all week here- so fresh. Getting to experience the tasting menu & wine pairing at Ha was the highlight of our trip for sure. Each dish was a HIT and the wine paired was excellent. Once our server Josue learned of our love for different wine regions & knowledge he just lit up talking to us about all of the options which was very fun. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a special milestone, whether a birthday, honeymoon, or anniversary, this is the spot to go! Truly incredible and can't wait to come back for a future trip.

La Casa De La Playa Getaway

This resort is incredible. The room & amazing bed & views, the pools, the bars and amazing bartenders, the private transportation & fun drivers, the restaurant options within all 3 resorts, the unique experiences only available to La Casa De La Playa guests, and the wonderful staff that work here truly set this stay apart from other resorts that we’ve been to. David & Alan were top notch butlers and every request was answered or delivered within minutes. I’m so glad that my wife discovered this place on social media as we will 100% be back.
