Had Alexander & Alejandro as our butlers, excellent service from both of them. Also a shout out to Xymena a hostess at the French restaurant. Loved the new restaurant. All the food was great and everyone was great

Great Things to Say About Unico 20*87*

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

This was our 4th trip to Unico. We go back every fall because we love it so much. The food is excellent. The service is great. They have quite a few different pools to meet different needs. We love the quiet pool with a swim up bar. We always meet interesting people. We like the quiet for reading. There are people that provided outstanding service to us. The most important person was our host Axel Rodriguez. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer or more attentive host. He sent dinner recommendations for the restaurant we were attending that night. He found us everyday to make sure everything was great. He had vert quick responses on What’s App. This was the second time he was our host. We will continue requesting him every year. A few other stand outs were the staff at Mi Carissa. The manager Irving, and servers Thomas and Santos. They went out of their way for us. (Especially my husband and his Chardonnay) Avec was also amazing. The food was fabulous. We were treated exceptionally great by manager Sergio, servers George and Alejandro, and hostess Xmena. I server at 20*87* stands out. One of the best servers ever, Susana! She was amazing. This adults only resort is perfection!

People Make the Trip

Getting There We took recommendations from previous travelers to take private transfer to/from Cancun airport. This was well worth the $158 to avoid long waits, cramped seats, and multiple stops by Unico’s included transport. This also allowed us to customize our pickup time (12:50 PM for a 4:00 PM flight at our gate with two hours to spare, instead of an immovable 11:00 AM the Unico option). Welcome We were greeted by our local host Laura whose personality shone brighter than the Cancun sun. Laura was out of breath after sprinting from the far end of the hotel to greet us when we arrived earlier than expected in our private van. Her efforts continued through the trip with daily check-ins while we were at the pool, regular WhatsApp messages with reminders about the day’s events/activities, and our dinner reservations. Food There were several winning dishes like the beef wellington at Avec (upscale French), the special-of-the-day lobster pasta at Mi Carisa (upscale Italian), and the orange chicken at Mura House (Japanese). The chefs at Mura and Cueva Siete even toured the dining room to greet and check in with guests. The latter, Gerardo Vazquez Lugo, graciously checked preferences, made recommendations, and prepared a little tasting menu for us on-the-fly. His soft shell crab was a standout and the whole thing was a great honor from somebody who has been featured in global publications like the New York Times. I also have to highlight Cricelda, our server at Mi Carisa. Her mastery of service matched most Michelin restaurants at which we’ve dined. Pool and Activities Diego, the morning pool attendant, was a standout. He’ll be a host like Laura soon enough. Although he is newer to hospitality he was considerate, helpful, and friendly. One day he made his way around the pools just to speak with/check-in on folks. We really enjoyed the art program, which in our experience was unique to Unico and shared regional art like beadwork. Eric (one of the activities directors), Laura, Diego, and the female lifeguard (I didn’t catch her name) worked together as a team to make my final moments at Unico magical. I was so disappointed when rough seas made kayaking impossible on our final full day. But, the morning of our departure, with about two hours before checkout, Eric got me a paddle and helped me carry a kayak to the shore, the lifeguard insisted on pulling it in back BY HERSELF when I was done (talk about a strong , and Diego and Laura collected my life vest and paddle (Diego) and ID (Laura), which you have to leave as a deposit, as I hurried back to my room to shower and pack in the 45-minutes before check-out. Laura met me at the front door with my ID and her signature smile to wish us safe travels.

We loved our stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We just got back from a 5 night stay. This was our 4th time at the resort and it was still as beautiful as ever. The postive things about this resort are: Service ( Karla, Bryan, JoJo, Rosa, Reynolda ) Food: We feel like they have stepped up another level!. Our favorite eating places were Pool Pizza, Japanese, Italian and 2087. French was good but not great. Check in and out was smooth. The negative things about this resort are: Rooms were not clean when we arrived, but after the second day it got better. We think that this resort is starting to cater more toward the legend group and not focusing much on nonlegend group. The placard on all pool side chairs and beach side chairs sometimes would stay all day and never be used. This is a problem that we have seen in the past and it seems to have gotten worse. We loved our stay and will be back in the future. We have also stayed at many resorts and have not found one that has Service like this resort!!
