UNICO 20N 87W - Riviera Maya

We stayed at the Unico 2087, and at first it was a nice stay (for the first few hours). Unfortunately, it took the Unico staff about an hour to check us in. Right off the bat, they tried selling us different products related to the property. After our flight, waiting patiently for our luggage, and enduring an hour-plus transfer from the airport to the hotel, we weren't in the mood for sales pitches. The hotel staff moved us from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor so we could have a better ocean view from our balcony. Our room was in the most remote part of the resort, but we accepted that minor inconvenience for the privacy and view. Unfortunately, the rest of my review isn't positive. Overall, I'd give the resort a 2 out of 5. My partner booked the vacation expecting better food than most resorts, but we were sadly disappointed. The rooms were okay, but we were not happy with the flooring of the room - concrete. We were very disappointed with the beach access and lack of beach options for this resort. The entertainment was not just subpar; it was non-existent if you were under 60. Bingo was the highlight of the entertainment nights. After dinner, people sat around in the lobby, drinking and asking each other where they were from and how long they had been at the resort. The animal intrusion in the resort halls, stairwells, and at the pool was disgusting and unacceptable. We were shocked that a resort in the middle of the jungle in 2026 would not have room service procedures that would keep rodents, raccoons, and lemurs out; this is unacceptable. Lemurs run around the pool in packs, trying to get food and digging through guests' belongings. No night events, no club, pools close at 7 p.m. We were smart enough not to fall for the sales presentation. We will never return to this resort.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was absolutely incredible! The service we received from everyone felt like family. The food and atmosphere was fantastic! Our butler Josue made our experience easy and personal. Thank you to him and the team! Mucho Gracias and we I’ll be back next year!

Wanted to post a review on here after staying 5 nights at Unico from 9/30-10/5. To level set we’re not members. We knew going into this resort it was not a party resort and it was a more elevated/relaxing resort. Some of the other guests we met were a little bummed and were hoping for more of a party scene like what is at Hard Rock. This didn’t bother us, we really enjoyed the mix of down time and what activities they had going on throughout our stay. Also knew the seaweed was going to be bad this time of year so and that the beach was not as large as other resorts. This also did not bother as we are more “pool people” than beach people. Food was 10/10 and we never got sick, definitely get the Ceviche by the pool. And Avec was our favorite, with great offerings like the duck and beef wellington. We are foodies and this definitely didn’t disappoint. Cocktails as well were 10/10 they would make anything you ask for and had fun unique drink offerings on their bar cart in the back corner of the lobby. Bring a tumbler!! Pool swim up bars were also fun they really worked hard to get people their drinks as fast as possible. Ask for Lucia or “Lucy” as she goes by also, she made us feel right at home at the pool and she hustled to make sure we were taken care of everyday! Service was also impeccable. The staff was quick and efficient the whole time, definitely ask for turndown service every night and we left gifts for the housekeeping to take back their families. Overall, we would definitely come back it’s a great hotel with good food, drinks and excellent service.

Beautiful location and lovely atmosphere! The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the service was pristine. Quiet and private with lovely amenities and different pool options based on noise preference. We were celebrating our honeymoon and they took great care of us and made it even more special. Zuleima was our local host and she was phenomenal. We’ll definitely be back!

Our host Laura was fantastic. She was on top of everything during our stay. Laura made our stay very memorable, enjoyable and comfortable. I would also like to say that all of our pool concierge Diego, Alam y and Gustavo did fantastic jobs as well. They all went out of their way to make our stay at Unico awesome.
