Beloved Playa Mujeres

This is the 3rd year in a row that we have vacationed at Beloved, and once again, it did not disappoint. We stayed for 5 nights in July 2026 in a Penthouse Suite. Room We were in Room 240 and absolutely loved it. The views are just spectacular. The Penthouse Suite is incredible and comes with so many wonderful perks. Check out the Beloved website for a full list, but our favorites were the in-room bartending session, the four laundered items per day, and the resort day pass! For the day pass, we chose Coral Playa Mujeres and it was so awesome to see how it has grown in the past year since our last visit there. The updates to the rooms at Beloved are really lovely. We thought the neutral colors played beautifully against the existing terracotta flooring and appreciated the many added features, especially the make-up vanity and the upgrades to the lighting. The outdoor space is practically the size of the room and we enjoyed a day of just relaxing at our room, enjoying the terrace and pool, and with the upgraded mini bar, we didn’t even need to leave for a cocktail. Housekeeping, turn down, and mini bar were consistent and did a great job. You feel so spoiled in the Penthouse - it’s such a treat and we will do our best to work it into our budget for all future stays! ! Room for Improvement I wish the bedding was of higher quality and more natural fibers. This was even more apparent coming straight from Secrets Playa Blanca, whose bedding was 100% cotton. I overheated easily and the sheets had almost a slight plastic-y feel to them sometimes. Food The food was excellent overall on our trip, but I’ll shout out some stand out favorites! Lupita Steakhouse - Watermelon Salad, Onion Rings (and yes, the steaks were also very good!) El Mar - Fish Tacos (Lunch), Crab Cake and the Shrimp Fettuccine (Dinner) La Isla - Pizza (Lunch - ask for it well done!), Tiramisu Le Bisou - We loved the breakfast buffet for a quick bite so we could get on the beach asap! Taco Truck - Try them all! The green sauce on the tacos is the BEST! Caffetto - Flat Whites, New York Roll, and be sure to try Cristina’s favorite - the Cardamom Cookies - we are so glad we took her advice! Room for Improvement: I was happy they offered specials at the restaurants each night. Like I said in my review last year, Beloved should not be under the same food umbrella as the other resorts. With only 4 restaurants, the menus should not be as limited as they are at the other locations. With limited menus at only 4 restaurants, it would be hard for us to consider a stay longer than 4 or 5 nights. If the menus were more extensive, staying longer would become more attractive, but adding a special is a good start. The Wine Pairing Dinner, which is a perk of the Penthouse, needs work. You choose your entree at check in and then the rest of the meal comes as a surprise. The only positive thing I can say about it was that the amuse-bouche was incredible. The food that followed was not good, and I wouldn’t say we are hard to please. The wines we tried were good, but there wasn’t much information given about each wine we had at all. Overall, I wish we’d skipped this perk and just had the regular Le Bisou menu. Hopefully, they will work on this and there will be better reviews to follow. They did ask our opinion, though, and we were honest, but made it clear we were not upset - I mean, at this point in our vacation, a meal where I ate very little was a good thing, haha. Regardless of us not being upset about the meal, they asked to make it up to us the next evening where we planned to eat - and wow, did they! We had the best meal put together by Chef Jose at Lupita (thank you, Chef!) and I would love to see that Poblano and Corn Soup back on the regular menu! Beach In addition to the staff, the beach is the other reason we return to Beloved. It feels like the best kept secret in the Cancun area. It’s vast, has soft sand, and it's light on seaweed even in the middle of summer.. There are plenty of loungers and the concierge staff is attentive and helpful. Drinks service is consistent and there is also a very small menu to order food right to the loungers if you wish. The beach is also great for long walks! Not all loungers have padding if that is something important to anyone reading this, but there are several beds that do. Room for Improvement Please bring back the old beach/pool menu. The fish tacos and pizzas were something we enjoyed several times the last 2 years, but this year we weren’t interested in anything on the menu. Pools In July, expect the pools to be very warm and not very refreshing, but they are clean and there is excellent service. Unlike the other Excellence Collection Resorts, the loungers at the pool are all padded. Staff The GM from our last two years, Andrea, is no longer with Beloved, and this was felt. We missed seeing her walking around each day with her huge smile checking on all of the guests, making sure everyone was happy. I also loved seeing her interact with the staff and observing the great relationship they seemed to have. Things did feel just a bit different, but change is never easy and it’s always hard when staff we come to love move on. We were happy to meet the new GM, Flavia, at check-in and hope to see her out more often on our next visit once she’s more settled. Fernanda - Office Manager: I adore Fernanda. She works so hard to ensure the happiness of her guests. Her beautiful smile will make your whole day! Alexander - Guest Service Manager: Alexander is so sweet. We did not have to rely on his services, but he made it clear that he was available to us. Paola- Reception: Paola is so sweet and her attention to detail made our trip even better. The Penthouse perks can keep you busy and I appreciated that she wrote out everything we scheduled so we had an easy reference during our stay. Christian - Bell Man: Christian shared with us that he’s been with Beloved for, I think it was, 16 years! He’s such a sweetheart. We loved seeing him again and had a great chat on our way to Coral on our Day Pass. Juan- Bartender: Juan made us some of the very best drinks we can remember having at Beloved. Make sure to have his Cucumber Martini and his Chocolate Martini! Nolberto - Bartender: Nolberto was our in room bartender for the Penthouse perk - Absolutely request him if you book the Penthouse! He made us the most delicious and unique cocktails and he’s just such an interesting and kind man. Luis - Beach Server: We just love Luis! You will never go thirsty, that is for sure! Denisse and Fabiola - Beach Concierge: These ladies will take the best care of you and are the sweetest! Jesus - Server at Le Bisou and Lupita: So much personality and a really great server! Jibahn - Captain at Le Bisou and Lupita: He worked hard to ensure we had a wonderful experience. Barbara - Captain at Le Bisou: She remembered us from last year and greeted us with a big hug! Such a lovely person. Jaime- Server at El Mar: Great server, great personality - When I asked if they had cream cheese, he said they didn’t, and I could tell he was going offer to go get some, but I cut him off, saying, no problem, don’t worry about it at all - I’m good! And wouldn’t you know it, I got cream cheese! Daniela - Hostess at Lupita: Her nametag said “Trainee” but she seemed like a pro - and she was so sweet- and! She made sure my purse never touched the ground! Karina - Hostess at El Mar: This amazing young lady is so welcoming and sweet. We were tempted for yet another quick breakfast at Le Bisou, but because we wanted to see Karina again, we went to El Mar- just love her! Cristina - Caffetto: Cristina is a Beloved staple! Having her greet us each morning for our Flat Whites or in the afternoon for a pick me up treat was the best! Regina - Spa: Regina was our Hydrotherapy attendant and she was so sweet and the mini massage at the end was wonderful! Overall the staff here is very welcoming, so kind, and they make you feel that they genuinely want you to have a great experience. We are so grateful to all mentioned and to all who are behind the scenes. Thank you!!! Entertainment We were there during the World Cup Finals and wow! They did such an amazing job of making this special! The set up was amazing and the food offerings were vast! We were impressed! Other than that, we didn’t do much during the day, opting instead for beach time, reading, and a few naps! I did do the face mask spa activity, though, and that was really fun. Victor is really great and I wish I’d not waited until the last day to participate in something! We were often ready for bed after dinner and, possibly, a night cap, but of course, we would never miss Claudia Trevino- so make sure there is a Thursday included in your stay! We did witness a very cool looking tango event as we were heading to bed one night! We also loved seeing Silent Disco on the schedule, but that was the day we went to Coral and we couldn’t rally for more than room service and a movie in bed! I was disappointed not to see Alex Sevilla or the reggae band from last year on this trip- hopefully they will come back around. A Few Thoughts: I wish guests were told at check in not to feed the wildlife and that signs were also posted on property. The iguanas really made me nervous at El Mar and the Taco Truck making it difficult to relax during those meals. They hang out more b/c they expect to be fed. We witnessed several couples feeding them during our stay. Please bring back real menus!!! If not for all restaurants/meals, at least for dinner. Being handed a menu and taking the time to look through it adds such elevation to a dining experience, and although I wish all resorts in the collection would do this, in an intimate environment like Beloved, putting away phones feels even more important. Again, coming from Secrets Playa Blanca where there are menus at each restaurant really made the app menus feel especially downgraded. Not to end on a negative note, I will say that we will absolutely be back. We love this resort so much.. If you are looking for a resort with a small footprint, a more personalized feeling of service, and your vacation priority is to fully unwind and relax, this is your spot! We miss the resort and staff so much already!

Beautifully updated rooms, outstanding beach with view to Isla Mujeres. Service is great with long standing staff like service staff, Antonio and Alex and beach concierge, Denisse who made our trip special. Will return again!

Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect! We particularly enjoyed Cristina, the activities director as well as the personal attention from the Chefs. 10/10 and we will be back next year!

Beloved it is our favorite place to vacation. The quality of care we get from everyone there is just incredible. This year, Cristina made it feel like it did back in 2019. She was in charge of entertainment. Her energy and charisma were just what was missing in the resort. We cannot wait to go back again next year. Same for chefs Jaime in taco stand and Juan at El Mar. Paola and Salvador in concierge/front desk. Cristian, Jesus, Rusell on the waiting staff. Alex in the bar. Just thankful for all of you!

Our 2nd visit to Beloved and we will be back every year. If you're looking for the most relaxing vacation..this place is a must visit!
