Reviews for Beloved Playa Mujeres

Heaven on earth

I have to start this review with some honorable mentions. One of the absolute highlights of our trip was getting to know the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Alex waited on us under our palapa daily, and it was such a joy seeing him every day. We made a point to sit in his section because he never left us wanting for anything. He always seemed to know exactly when we might need another drink or snack. He always had a smile on his face and genuinely tried to get to know us. On our last day he was moved to the pool, so of course we had to go find him! Antonio — a man of many talents! He waited on us at the lobby bar, the sushi bar, and the beach several times. Such a sweet soul with a contagious smile and personality. Cirilo was our waiter at El Mar for breakfast most mornings. He was very attentive and kind. Mex — what a guy! He’s the bellman and has been at Beloved for 18 years. He made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived, asking genuine questions to get to know us. He also makes a great smoky fruity drink at check-in! The ladies at the beach concierge, Claudia and Denise, were wonderful — setting up towels and checking in throughout the day. Such a nice touch. Julio (I’m not sure if he is employed by Beloved or not) took us out on the Hobie Cat, which was a true highlight of our trip! I highly suggest taking advantage of this free activity. You’ll get to see the bluest water up close and may even see sea turtles or stingrays. This resort is full of beautiful people working here. I loved hearing little bits about their lives and getting to know them. When it comes to service and tranquility, this resort cannot be matched. We visited in March and were told it was a busy time and mostly booked, but numerous times while walking around it felt like we had the entire resort to ourselves. The resort itself is picturesque and very clean — you can clearly see the pride they take in their property. We spent four nights in Cariñosa 4, a two-story casita with a plunge pool. It is a beautiful space. We spent most mornings on the main-floor balcony taking in the scenery and most nights on the top floor lounging on the bed and looking at the stars. The king bed was very comfortable, and the room had everything you could possibly need. The minibar and mini fridge were regularly stocked with snacks, sodas, juices, and beer. We were also welcomed with a bottle of sparkling wine in the room. Housekeeping was amazing and quick. It was so nice coming in from the beach to get ready for dinner in a sparkling clean room. Turndown service was just as wonderful — there’s nothing like getting into a perfectly turned-down bed with robes and slippers nearby. The shower was huge, and the rainfall shower head was spectacular. My only complaint about the room (and maybe this is TMI!) is that the toilet room has a semi-frosted door that doesn’t reach the ceiling and is fairly open to the rest of the room. I know it’s meant for couples, but even after 15 years of marriage I still prefer a little privacy when using the bathroom! Not a dealbreaker though — one of us would just go sit on the balcony. The food was amazing. Some favorites were Bocadito, the taco truck of course! Every single taco was mouthwatering. We did room service breakfast one morning but preferred El Mar for the views, so we ate there every other morning. We tried a bit of everything: omelettes, French toast, pancakes, waffles, and shrimp enchiladas — not typically something we would order for breakfast, but they were amazing. For lunch at El Mar we had the tuna tataki and flank steak alambre — so good! Dinner was phenomenal. Some favorite meals included the seafood risotto at La Isla. The sides at Lupita Steakhouse were out of this world, and the sushi bar and shrimp ceviche were such a treat. Honestly, I’m a little mad at myself for not eating more sushi! The beach itself is amazing. I see so many reviews talking about the private cabanas, but aside from the personalized service I’m not sure I see the appeal. The palapas and beds are so comfortable and really give that tropical feel. The beach is wide, and the sand is incredibly white and soft. They clean the beach daily, so there was never much seaweed. The water is like nothing I’ve ever seen — unbelievably blue and clear. Beloved is truly a slice of heaven on earth. I will sing its praises to anyone who will listen. We really hope to return soon. One side note: pack what you need, we ended up needing eye drops and dental floss at the deli-boutique and it was over $40 for both of those items. I didn’t check the cost of anything else but glad I had brought sunscreen and other toiletries.

Beautiful place

We have been to the Beloved Hotel more than once and have always enjoyed it. We love everything from the service, the food, and the amenities! We highly recommend this place for couples. Extremely relaxing! Although the bed was a bit too firm for our taste, the bedding and everything else in the room was great! Also, the Taco Truck was amazing and we were happy to enjoy some delicious tacos during our visit.

Next trip already booked

Just finished our 8th trip and already booked for our 9th visit next year. Everything is still wonderful especially love seeing familiar faces like Mex, Alex, Louise, Jesus . Just some random observations: Occupancy was way down which I’m assuming was due to cancellations from the current events in Mexico. Beloved is nowhere near any of the disruption so we didn’t even think twice about going. Service is flawless. As a part of the rewards program we had really fun surprises every night like Moet & Chandon and a bottle of Rioja, a cheese plate and chocolates. I will say the only change I don’t love is what they have done with the menus. I know they narrowed down options for efficiency but the choices are hit or miss. Ended up ordering from the Plant Based more than before. Usually we love Lupita and it became our least favorite this trip. They got rid of the provoletto app and the tenderloin and the meat was just sub par quality. I have allergies so the Mexican night isnt an option for me. But I know people love it. We used to love El Mar as our first lunch after check in. We’ve gotten the same meal every time! Gazpacho and guacamole and fish of the day. The menu is just off for lunch. We got the fish tacos but they weren’t as good as the old beach menu version. Dinner there, however, was outstanding. Beach menu really needs a rethink. A salad would be amazing. Or even crudite for guacamole. (Pro tip: you can get vegetables at Cafetto) Bring back fish tacos and pizza We love the quietness of the resort but it could use a touch more energy at night. Wish they’d bring back casino night and bring in something like silent disco. Water show was a fun addition the last few years.

Paradise Found!

My husband and I booked a last minute trip to Beloved Playa Mujeres the end of February/early March for 9 days. I can't say enough on how much we enjoyed our time at this property. The resort is absolutely stunning! Beloved has renovated their suites and the lobby since our last visit. Everything looks amazing. Pools are heated so my husband was thrilled. Service was exceptional. This is a quiet resort which was exactly what we were looking for. It feels calm and serene. There are no loud groups or blaring music. The only issue we had was some slight disappiontment in a couple of meals, however, most were excellent. We would not hesitate to return for another visit. If you book more than 7 days, you can visit the sister property next door which is Excellence Playa Mujeres. We took advantage of this as Excellence Playa Mujeres is our favourite resort when looking for a little more action. We would like to mention a couple of outstanding employees who made our visit incredible. Benito - Beach server who was very attentive and always took excellent care of us. Fabi - Beach concierge with a lovely smile who always made our day brighter. Russell - Server at French Restaurant Le Bisou who went above and beyond on our last night by surprising us with a selection of desserts and 2 glasses of Bailey's. He was very kind and attentive. There was another waiter who worked at La Isla Trattoria who was learning french. I wish I could remember his name as he was an excellent server who enjoyed chatting with us. Everyone we encountered were amazing! If you are looking for a quiet, romantic getaway, look no further. This place is the absolute best! Bonus tip - do not miss seeing Claudia Trevino perform on Thursday nights. She is the most amazing singer with such a beautiful voice. She really should be singing in a concert hall. Enjoy!

1 word - Perfection!

This was our second visit to Beloved and it will not be our last! (Already booked to return in November). I never feel like I need a vacation from my vacation after staying here. Come here if you want to truly rest your mind, body and soul. We were here previously in November 2024 and remembered it being quiet, calm and top of the line service, food and drinks. We were absolutely correct and feel it was even better this time!! Rooms have been refreshed. Nothing drastic but still lovely. Best part is there are now nightstands on each side of the bed. Amazing! They were working on Casita Suites while we were there. We had an Oceanview Terrace Suite with plunge pool. Room was very nice but we would not book this type again because it was wasted on us. We never used the pool or even that part of the terrace. Housekeeping was spot on. We did miss turndown service a couple nights but only because we ended our nights pretty early on those days. We only used room service for coffee in the morning and it was prompt and hot. We made the error of choosing building 1 for our room and because we go to bed early and get up early, there were a couple of louder nights from entertainment. If you are someone who stays up for the entertainment, this will not affect you at all. The plus of building 1 is that it is central to everything. Food and drinks were top notch! Loved everything we had. Do not sleep on the special Mexican menu at Lupita on Wednesday nights. It was our overall favorite meal!!! Everything we ate and drank at the resort was amazing. We also went next door for dinner one night and ate at Agave. Also delicious and way too much food for us. Antonio was a lovely server! We booked a Cabana for our week and plan to continue this from now on. We picked Cabana 2 and had the privilege of Benito as our server. He has set the bar for exceptional cabana service! Knew our drink order after the first day( and I kept him on his toes with my mudslides with salt on the rim and the change up to Malibu and coke). He was quick and worked tirelessly all day with a smile. Kept our beers and waters ice cold also. Thank you, Benito for helping make our week so amazing! We had many other employees that stand out ( honestly, every single person we encountered were friendly and kind. They really do make you feel special here) and before I list everyone I have to give special shout out to Pasqual at the lobby bar! He was there the last time we visited and we were happy to see him again. He makes delicious dirty martinis and Bon Bon’s!!! Friendly and hardworking. We looked forward to visiting with him each evening! The additional standouts are: Denise - Beach Concierge Angel - Lupita ( Mexican night server) Antonio - Playa Mujeres Agave Juan and Antonio - Lobby Bar Juan Carlos - transfer to Playa Mujeres Alexander - Conceirge guest services Christian - taco truck area server (remembered him from last time) Daniela - Trainee Hostess Ishamel - Breakfast Buffett As I said, every single person at this resort is top notch!! Couple things I did notice that I wish were different: The beds around the pools should have tables on each side so both people can put their drinks down. There were a few times we saw groups of couples sitting together at meals. This is a slippery slope and I would hate to see Beloved move away from the true, couple only, world they have created. All the other Excellence resorts welcome groups. Please bottle the lobby scent and have it available for guests to purchase. How amazing it would be to have that scent at home to remind me to come back soon! If you prefer foam parties, loud music and want to hang out with other people besides your significant other, this is not the place for you. However, if you want true quiet, peace and relaxation while spending quality time with your person, visit here!!! See you in November! The Swanson’s ~

Please do yourself a favor and go to this resort! I had the most beautiful time with my partner in January. The wait staff was incredibly nice and greeted us with a smile and a yes to every request. We had the opportunity to go to Tulum, and the Xel-Ha, parasailing and jet skiing, we ate the most fantastic meals on a beach bed right next to the water. It was the easiest and most pleasant vacation and gave true meaning to the word luxury. It was not pretentious and the guest coordinator (and every single one of the waitstaff!!) made sure we were having fun every step of the way.
