Avoid Royal Beach Punta Cana – A Disappointing Experience from Start to Finish I’m writing this review while sitting in the Royal Beach Punta Cana lobby, awaiting transportation back to the airport. That alone should tell you everything. From the moment we arrived, confusion set the tone. Our transport driver didn’t know which lobby to drop us at—Secrets (adults only) or Dreams (family-friendly). We’re a family, and clearly should’ve been directed to the Dreams side. Once sorted, we were welcomed with cool towels and champagne. It seemed promising—briefly. Then, the chaos began. Check-in was smooth, but immediately after, we were shuffled from one desk to another—sign here, book this, listen to that. It felt less like a vacation and more like a sales pitch marathon. This, unfortunately, foreshadowed the rest of our stay: constant miscommunication and unmet expectations. The Spa Debacle We scheduled two 80-minute massages. Due to a system outage, our booking—done manually with Paula—never reached the spa. I spent 30–45 minutes attempting to verify the appointment in person. The receptionist promised a callback or text. It never came. I returned hours later, only to be squeezed in for reduced 50-minute massages. Unacceptable. Avoid the Unlimited Vacations Club at All Costs Do not—under any circumstance—sign up for the Unlimited Vacations Club. It’s a sales trap. They promise luxury, ease, and exclusive perks, but deliver disorganization and indifference. When it’s time to honor their promises, they vanish. The UVC desk staff were entirely unhelpful. Natali was particularly rude, with Lennis close behind. Anny attempted damage control by offering a $6,000 membership package—laughable—and two $100 spa gift certificates after our spa visit was already over. Worthless. They’re selling dreams and delivering disappointment. The Few Bright Spots Daniel (both of them) in the restaurant area were outstanding—attentive, kind, and professional. The entertainment team put on fantastic shows every night. Our kids genuinely enjoyed the children’s activities and kid-friendly zones. Final Verdict I will never return to a Dreams property. Our trip to Mexico offered far better service, food, accommodations, and overall experience. This Dominican Republic visit was overwhelmingly subpar. I wouldn’t recommend Royal Beach Punta Cana to anyone—not even my dog. Choose wisely. Your time and money deserve better.

Just got back from an amazing two weeks at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana. Went there to celebrate turning 50 and my daughter finishing school. The hotel had a birthday banner on the door, bottle of bubbly, fruit and a cake when we got to the room which was lovely. The rooms are large and spacious and very well cleaned. Fridges restocked and they put extras of anything you need. The resort itself is so beautiful with lovely pools and stunning plants and flowers. The beach is stunning with plenty of loungers and palm parasols for shade. We tended to setup on the beach and head to the pool on the mornings as the water warmed up in the pools on the afternoon. The beach had a lovely breeze all day which kept us cool. If you fancy a day trip then I would recommend using Quetzal for Sanoa Island. Had plenty of time on the island which was jaw dropping beautiful after which we did snorkelling and saw the starfish. For drinks at the hotel we liked the Mango daqaris, Pina coladas and Mumajuana is we felt like shots. A BIG BIG shout out goes to Welkin from the Grotto Bar who was so attentive and made our stay so special. Me and the family will miss his friendly welcoming smile. David and Geraldo who worked behind the swim-up bar near the plaza were also great, friendly and made super yummy cocktails. The entertainment staff were also amazing. They ran so many activities every day which we found so much fun. Dancing, Beach Darts, Rum Tasting, Mojito Making, Corn Hole, Beach Volleyball. So a big shout out to Marco 'Polo', Johnathan, Brownie, Baby Face, Mr Wonderful, Orlando (who taught me some Dominican Slang) Breakfast was lovely at the buffet each morning. The restaurants were good with our favourite being the Italian Portafino and Seaside Grill. They also do a massive 2lb burger there if your up for the challenge! I managed to eat 3/4. Room service which is also inclusive 24h was also tasty and delivered quickly. So all in all an amazing time. The staff there are great and made our time so special. Hopefully I'll get to see them again soon.👍🏝️🍸☀️❤️

My wife and I took our entire family (7 people) on a trip to celebrate my daughter’s High School graduation. We decided on Dreams Royal Beach in Punta Cana. The trip was fabulous!!! We got four rooms in the VIP Preferred club. The Club provides a butler. I first need to say that we have been at many resorts with butlers (20+). Our butler Roberto on this trip was by far the best butler we ever had!!! Roberto thank you for helping and taking care of us!! Our rooms were perfect. We had two garden rooms and two swim out rooms with pools. The beach was unbelievable. We stayed in the VIP / Preferred section of the beach everyday. All the servers were friendly, the drinks plentiful and the service was perfect. The staff did an excellent job clearing a small amount of seaweed everyday. The food was ok. Here are my ratings. Breakfast everyday day was great = 9/10. Two places we went to were Portofino and Seaside Grill. Lunch was also great = 9/10. The three places we went to were Portofino (Pizzeria), Seaside Grill and World Cafe. Dinner Ratings 1. Tres Colores - Mexican (8/10). A bit salty for me but everyone else liked their meals. 2. Portofino - Italian (8/10). This was my favorite restaurant. Has everything you would expect. 3. Fusion - Asian and Habachi. This was probably the worst Habachi restaurant I have ever eaten at. I would skip this one (5/10). The experience was better than the food. 4. Oceana - Seafood. This was all around a disaster. (1/10) very bad service, menu limited and bad. I actually got sick. 5. Seaside Grill - Steak. (8/10) very nice place, service great, food great, right on the beach 6. World Cafe - buffet (7/10) typical Caribbean buffet place. Solid and something for everyone 7. Dolce - (10/10) this was a desert and ice cream place we hit daily. Also coffee. Very good and everyone was friendly Overall we loved the resort!!

We had an incredible stay at Dreams Royal Beach, made even more memorable by the exceptional staff who went above and beyond throughout our trip. We stayed in the Preferred Club Premium Suite, which I highly recommend for couples. It’s tucked away in a more secluded part of the resort, with its own exclusive pool, perfect for relaxing in peace. Although it's a bit farther from the main beach and restaurants, there’s a frequent shuttle or a scenic walk through the eco-lake, where we spotted turtles, herons, and lizards. Truly a unique touch. As Preferred Club guests, we had the option to enjoy breakfast at either the Seaside Grill or the buffet at Portofino. Both are excellent choices. Ismael, who runs the Seaside Grill, is a standout. His service is exceptional, and his warm energy made us smile every single time we dined there. He even remembered us from our last visit in December 2024! At Portofino, the breakfast buffet is equally impressive thanks to an outstanding team. Nelson, who also works lunch service, greeted us by name every day always with a high five! Glenny, Juan D, and Margarita also made us feel incredibly welcome with their consistent kindness and attention. In the evenings, Portofino became our go-to à la carte spot, and Vicente played a big part in that. His thoughtful, attentive service elevated every meal and was one of the main reasons we chose to return to Dreams Royal Beach. One of the other highlights was the Preferred Club bar areas, which are quiet, relaxed, and home to some of the most talented bartenders. We especially enjoyed our time with Isa, who made the best margaritas and had such a fun, engaging personality. We loved playing cards and chatting with him. In the main lobby Preferred Bar, Juan also impressed us with his skills and comedy. Our Premium Suite was a great upgrade from our previous stay in the Deluxe Suite. It featured more modern decor, and although the Wi-Fi wasn’t the best, it didn’t bother us at all. The mini-bar was restocked daily, as were towels. The only minor issue was that the shower lacked shampoo and body wash, and it wasn’t replenished during our stay but this was such a small inconvenience that it barely affected our overall experience. As for the beach, it’s sargassum season, so the water wasn’t as clear as it was during our December trip, when it was crystal blue. But the resort staff worked hard to clear the sand daily, and it truly didn’t impact our enjoyment. It’s just a natural part of visiting the Caribbean during the summer months, and the hotel did everything within their power to manage it. The preferred beach area was also one of our favourite areas and we never had to rush to get a bed. Definitely bring tip money in dollars if you can, these workers work incredibly long hours and tips are the least we can do for their excellent service. One small downside: There were a few large and loud groups from the US across the resort during our stay, and at times this disrupted the otherwise peaceful atmosphere. While it didn’t ruin our trip, it was something we noticed and found a bit distracting. Overall, Dreams Royal Beach delivered another unforgettable vacation experience. The Preferred Club upgrade is well worth it, especially for couples seeking a more serene and personalised stay. Our butler Marcelo even set out a lovely display of rose petals and champagne in our room for our anniversary! Incredible staff, delicious food, secluded spaces, and thoughtful touches made our return visit every bit as special as the first.
