Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana

Be aware that the current renovation work on a building is very noisy for preferred customers located in swim up rooms (facing the building under renovation). Renovation work is supposed to continue until October.

We stayed in the preferred club swim out room Pros- 1. Our concierge, Emmanuel was wonderful, super helpful, had a banner put on the door for my step daughter’s birthday and was always attentive when we reached out. 2. The entertainment team was amazing; I’m not sure how anyone has that amount of energy day in and out and all day long but they kept things fun for kids and adults. 3. The beach was beautiful, not too bad with the seaweed and plus we saw the machines out there cleaning up so that there wasn’t an overwhelming amount. 4. Food was great. My favorite was portofino food wise and my favorite for ambiance was seaside grill. 5. The waiters and waitresses are so lovely and genuinely happy to welcome you. As a side note too, there are guests who feel because it’s all inclusive and gratuity is included you don’t need to tip, but you should. If you feel like service was great give a little extra, if not then don’t but they completely appreciate when you do 6. The 24 hour coco cafe in the lobby area was so great. The coffee was amazing as were the sandwiches and pastries/ cookies. The cons- 1. We had four baby roaches in our bedroom at different times through the trip. 3 in the bathroom and one right in the area by the beds. Now, do we know it’s a tropical island? Yes, bugs are expected. However, when we brought it up to them the response was just that it’s a tropical climate and these things happen. Not for nothing but I’ve been to hotels in warm climate areas that I wasn’t paying what we paid for this experience and never had a roach issue. But we chalked it up to that. 2. Our concierge, Emmanuel, finished his shift at around 12 in the afternoon on the day before we were leaving. We were never assigned another go to person to contact if we needed anything or if there was a problem. And when he left, more problems began… 3. Housekeeping never came to our room the day Emmanuel left. It was as if they completely flat left us. We did not have the do not disturb sign on the door, they could have come in at any point and they never did. This left us tracking down people we saw in the hall to get towels and toilet paper. We also had to go to the front desk to ask them to have someone please come to the room; this was met with a very ‘eh’ type of attitude and I wasn’t feeling it. 4. We were told someone was coming to get the luggage for the airport at 8:10am. We waiting until 8:35 no one came. Listen we don’t care if we have to bring our luggage to the lobby that’s not a big deal but don’t tell guests you’re going to do it and then you don’t. And then when it’s brought up during checkout there’s no type of care about it again met with that ‘eh’ attitude. I’ve been to a Secrets resort in Mexico 2 times and both times were met with exceptional standards which is why when we were booking I thought Dreams was a great option as the sister hotel of Secrets for our family getaway. I hate to say I was a bit disappointed in the experience overall.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a glass of champagne and cold face cloths. We checked in and to the check in staff he was amazed by us telling him we were there for our honeymoon, which i made very clear on the booking we were for this very special occasion. On inspection of the room, it seemed very nice, even though we did notice someone had stuck a plaster on the fan light along with black tape on the fire alarm. The room was clean, the food was okay at the buffet area, however it was always cold. A few other restaurants were visited which the food was good. We were told to avoid the people working for amstar as they tried to upsell you holiday days for the group and they waste alot of your holiday time trying to do this too. We made several complaints about the room next door who continuously played loud music even though they weren't in there along with smoking illegal substances on the resort which the smell kept coming into our hotel room. The room which had multiple signs in stating it was an offence. We got told that we could be moved to another room, but why should we have been punished for the illegal actions being taken place in the room next door to us along with the obnoxiously loud music at all times throughout the day and night. Overall the resort was OK but I will never go back again with my Wife.

We really had the best time on this vacation with our two boys 13 and 15. The facility was clean, everyone was nice, the food was good, the pools were sparkling clean, and the beach is beautiful. Our expectations were high, and this place delivered. We stayed in the preferred section, and it was absolutely part of our having a great time. Highly recommend the preferred section. Martin was our butler, and he was fantastic and made sure our whole family was taken care of and having a good time. He really made our trip!

My experience was "ok". I was a Preferred guest and don't know what I received relative to others. You're unable to order alcohol to your room even when there are only two adults staying there. The food was less than good.
