We had the most incredible stay at Hyatt Ziva—truly a vacation we will never forget. What made it so special was the people. Raibel went above and beyond for our kids, always making sure they were included in activities and having fun. They adored him so much that they made sure to say goodbye—and were actually crying in the taxi on the way to the airport.( They were going to miss him). He couldn’t have been kinder or more professional. The food was outstanding, and you could tell how much pride the team takes in it. A special thank you to Sebastian, the head chef, along with Christian, the sous chef, and Jose M., our waiter, for always making sure our meals were absolutely top notch. The kids club was amazing—my daughter absolutely loved Daira, who made her experience so fun and memorable. Even the smallest moments didn’t go unnoticed—while we were sitting by the pool waiting for my daughter to come down the slide, a lifeguard kindly brought my husband and me cold waters. That level of thoughtfulness says everything. The grounds are immaculate, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the staff is truly amazing in every way. We honestly don’t want to vacation anywhere else after this experience. Thank you, Hyatt Ziva, for such a special and unforgettable trip.

At Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana, Luis V at the Coconz Pool Bar was the highlight of our trip. Top-quality drinks, amazing recommendations, and service that went above and beyond every single day. He made the entire experience feel elevated and personal. People like Luis are the reason guests come back. He deserves serious recognition — and a raise.

The sheer scale of the Hyatt Ziva and Zilara complex is enough to make you wonder if they’ve accidentally built a small, high-end country rather than a resort. Between the sprawling pools, the dedicated water park, and the endless activity hubs, your step count will reach "marathon" levels before you even hit the breakfast buffet. It is a true tropical paradise carved out of the arid Dominican landscape, appearing like a lush, palm-filled mirage in the middle of a construction zone. You quickly forget the world outside exists once you’re safely tucked inside this manicured, sprawling Eden. The beach itself is a masterclass in grooming, with sand so white it makes your teeth look yellow and water that remains crystal clear especially if you go more than 50 yards out. It’s the kind of picturesque setting that makes you want to take up water sports just to look athletic in the background of someone’s Instagram photo. When we weren’t chilling on the beach, the kids were busy colonizing the Teens Club or retreating to the sports bar to watch the Final Four. Speaking of the sports bar, the service there was a highlight for our family, especially when a waitress went above and beyond to secure burgers for my sons while we played pool. The staff everywhere are genuinely impressive, greeting you with a heartfelt hand-to-heart gesture that makes you feel slightly more important than you actually are. We even saw a staff member meticulously wiping down chairs during a rainy night at the theater, proving their dedication is waterproof. It feels like someone is always nearby, ready to spring into action or solve a problem before you even realize you have one. The Hyatt team clearly has a flair for the dramatic, as they seem capable of erecting entire stages and event spaces on a whim. For Easter weekend, they conjured a massive stage on the lawn next to the water park and set up adorable mock storefronts and candy shops for the kids. The theme nights were equally ambitious, featuring everything from a Mexican feast to an Ocean Party complete with a DJ and glow-in-the-dark characters. It’s the kind of logistical wizardry that makes you suspect they have a small army of party-planners hiding in the palm trees. When it comes to dining, the variety is staggering, ranging from the organized chaos of the Marketplace to the refined atmosphere of the Italian and Hibachi restaurants. If you’re looking for a liquid education, the One-Eyed Cat is the place to be for top-tier cocktails and a vibe that feels both sophisticated and relaxed. We found ourselves alternating between the high energy of the piano bar and the quiet satisfaction of a well-mixed drink after a long day of "relaxing." Every meal felt like an event, which is helpful when your main goal for the day is deciding which restaurant to conquer next. The culinary tour of the resort continued at the Italian restaurant, where the shrimp risotto was so good it felt like a hug in a bowl. While the pizzas were crowd-pleasers and the salads surprisingly fresh and vibrant, the Hibachi restaurant stole the show with its blend of dinner and a performance. We found a strategic advantage in the Grotto Bar being located right outside the Hibachi entrance, serving as the perfect staging area to grab one of the best cocktails of the trip while we waited. Between the nightly rotation of fresh sushi and the pre-dinner drinks, the evening dining routine became something we genuinely looked forward to rather than just a way to refuel. However, the unsung hero of the week was the Marketplace breakfast, which defied the typical "buffet fatigue" you find at most resorts. The made-to-order breakfast burritos were a daily requirement for me, crafted with care. The commitment to fresh fruit was also impressive, not just at the main buffet but at the dedicated beach stand where you could snack on tropical goodness with your toes in the sand. It’s hard to complain about life when your biggest morning struggle is deciding how much mango is too much mango. When we finally retreated to our rooms, we found them more than adequate for a family on the move. While you don’t go to the Dominican Republic to sit inside, the extra square footage was a lifesaver for housing our mountain of suitcases and ensuring everyone had a comfortable place to crash. The layout was functional and spacious, serving as the perfect silent partner to the high-energy activities happening outside our door. It was the ideal home base—comfortable enough to feel like a retreat, but not so distracting that we missed out on the resort’s larger-than-life amenities. Perhaps the most refreshing part of the Hyatt Ziva experience was the complete lack of "resort jewelry"—also known as the dreaded plastic wristband. It was a relief to walk around like a normal human being without being constantly monitored or hassled about credentials at every turn. They occasionally asked for a room number at meals, but otherwise, the operation felt incredibly trusting and laid-back, which only added to the "paradise" vibe. The overall atmosphere of the resort manages to feel exclusive yet welcoming, a difficult balance to strike when you’re dealing with such a massive footprint. Whether we were enjoying a casual lunch or attending a high-production concert or show, the attention to detail remained consistently high. It’s a rare place that can keep both adults and teenagers entertained without anyone feeling like they’re compromising. The scale of the operation is truly immense, and I commend the Hyatt for maintaining such high standards; we would certainly return if our travels bring us back to Cap Cana. We left the Dominican Republic feeling sun-kissed, well-fed, and wondering if we could hire the staff to follow us home to wipe down our chairs.
