Secrets Tides Punta Cana

Secrets tides is one of our favorite places to visit. Our Butler, Jonathan, we have had a few trips now and he is amazing! Always there to help you with whatever you need. He even got a lightbulb replaced for us while we’re at the pool. The preferred pool bar is also amazing. The entire team there works very hard and remembers your drinks. Juan, Edward, Jhonathan, Jordy, Coral and the entire team is amazing! The food is all the restaurants was very good. Can’t wait to return.

The experience was amazing. We enjoyed a lot special with Gregori, Mayra, Leonadi y Alberto. They gave us an amazing service and good memories for me and all my family. We want to come back again.

This place was nothing short of amazing. Food was very good, great selection of activities and entertainment. Wasn’t a party all night place but plenty to do and enjoy a great week. I have no complaints on anything as everything met or exceeded expectations.

My wife and I (late 40s) stayed at Tides for 7 nights to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. It was our second stay at this resort, and we loved it! The food was delicious, and there was just enough entertainment and action, without it being loud or overwhelming. There is a large variety of drinks available, and if you are willing to try, everyone should be able to find cocktails or mocktails they like. Don't get fixated on the "top shelf" that you think you need! We spent most of every day near the pools, and ate in a different restaurant each evening. There was live music every night, and always plenty to look at. The staff is friendly and fun, and it is a real bonus if you speak Spanish when you go! Everything is clean and comfortable, with no stray animals to be a nuisance. Secrets keeps the beach as clean as possible, but keep in mind there is always going to be lots of seaweed in this area in July. We would highly recommend!

This is a beautiful, well-maintained and well-thought out resort. Whoever put the plan together for this resorts' layout, did so with the utmost care and definitely had their customers in mind. It was extremely walkable without feeling too big or small, there were so many cute little areas to hang out and relax in, cozy firepits, small and large seating areas, 3 large pools (one for those who like to party and be in the mix, one for those who want quiet time and one that is for Preferred members only and has a bit of both). Always plenty of comfortable seating, no having to wake up at the crack of dawn to try to save a chair. Plenty of towels available whenever you want, pool and beach-side service with a smile from the lovely staff (shout out to Rafael!), various workshops each day where you can make cute souvenirs to bring home (limited space, first come, first serve), lots of activities like beach or pool volleyball, dance lessons, games, etc. I did find the beach volleyball court was strangely placed, however, the sand was soft and we didn't have to worry about the ball ending up in the ocean which was nice. Although the beach was lovely with many chairs and palapas, the water was full of sargassum which was disappointing😞. It was clear enough to swim in on our second last day but I do want to warn that some areas have sharp, unexpected rocks jutting out of the sand as you make your way in, so step lightly. It's nice once you get a bit further in. The way the dining works is that the buffet is open for breakfast and lunch and closed for dinner (we found that odd but ok fine). For dinner, it is first come, first serve at their various a la cartes, no reservations needed. Interestingly enough, we enjoyed our meals at Meraki (Asian cuisine) and Tierra (Amazonian cuisine) the first two nights but when we went back to try different items it was not as good :( The steakhouse had poor service but good food (excellent steaks). We went to the Preferred restaurant for lunch twice and it was just ok. We enjoyed going to the Barefoot Grill for lunch, the fish and chips were great. The buffet had decent selections but I found the food to be a bit bland overall... they could use more seasoning and better sauces imo and I am a bit of a foodie. Lunch is better than breakfast imo. They also have a grill going on the beach with burgers and hot dogs during the day for quick bites and the burgers are good. And there is a food truck serving similar fare by the Preferred pool. The entertainment staff (and all staff in general) were always smiling and energetic... special shout out to Stephanie who was adorable, Mayra who is hilarious and sassy (in a good way), and our butler Carela who kept us up to date with the daily/nightly activities and always checked on us with a smile. The nightly entertainment mostly consisted of their house band singing various tracks in the lobby at 7pm, followed by a show of some sort at 9pm. After that, it is pretty quiet. You can go to the sports bar to play pool or listen to the dj play music. The bar also serves pub-style food, but we didn't try any of it. There is also a cute Cafe that serves small bites, ice cream, coffee smoothies and teas. The frappes are delicious 😋 They do a few parties in the lobby on various nights but to us they seemed a bit lame so we didn't really partake. Others seemed to be enjoying it though! Karaoke night was fun... they should do it more often or find other forms of entertainment to help mix things up! The spa was lovely and I recommend getting a massage if you're able. They also have a water circuit that you can do before your spa treatment if requested. The rooms in the Preferred building were very nice. When we first arrived, we noticed a strange smell on my husband's side of the bed, like someone urinated on the floor... super off-putting. We let Carela know and he sent someone to clean it right away. The smell was gone by the time we returned. Other than that, the room was great and cleaned each day, fridge always restocked and towels refreshed as needed. There are built-in speakers in the ceiling so you can play your favorite tunes while relaxing or getting ready! Our elevator did break down a few times which wasn't fun since we were on the 4th floor, but always fixed relatively quickly. I want to note that there were no mosquitoes at this resort!!! And I probably saw like 3 flies and 2 small lizards the entire stay. No stray animals roaming around either. As you see, a few hiccups here and there, but our overall experience exceeded the negatives and we enjoyed our stay. We love Hyatt/Secrets resorts and would love to visit again in the future!
