We have been members of the UVC for several years and have stayed at several hotels from this group (now part of Hyatt) in various locations across America and Europe. So, I would like to cut to the chase (great suite, nice bathrooms, friendly employees, delicious breakfast) and get to my main comments about this property. First of all, this is the first time we have stayed at a Secrets resort that is actually located in the same building as a Dreams resort (for families). The hotel has a U shape, with part of the U being the Secrets and the other part being the Dreams. The construction is very modern style, with great materials, but extremely difficult to go from one floor to another without using the elevators. I always use the stairs, and here it was like being inside a maze, I was always getting lost, and I had to take the elevators on several occasions. The room numbers are another mess, difficult to guess in which building or floor the room was located. There are several common areas (including pool area, beach area and some restaurants) that are shared by both hotels. There are other areas, including the 6th floor and the 8th floor, that are designated for adults only. Having dinner was a problem, as although there are several restaurants, they do not accommodate a significant number of customers, so available reservations go fast, and we needed to go from one place to another on several occasions. The beach is not nice, small and narrow, with thick sand and no “Preferred” area for members. Getting into the water was an issue due to pebbles, rocks, and possibly, the presence of sea urchins (you need to wear special shoes to get in). The problem was the smoking on the beach area and very close to the beach area. I am not a smoker, and I enjoy being outside without the smell of cigarettes, but a few people were smoking. The best part of this hotel is the employees, everyone will do the “extra mile” to provide you with the best possible vacation, but, in my case, I will not go back.

Our experience was excellent. The moment you check in they assign you a butler. Ours was Ricardo Tumalan. He went above and beyond to ensure our every need was met. Ricardo, with his friendly face was always there to make sure our stay was seamless, enjoyable, and stress free. Thank you Ricardo for being super friendly and attentive! The food was top-notch we tried all the restaurants and the food and service was exceptional on all of them. The hotel needs regular maintenance, such as paint and repairs on the outside tubs. Overall we had a great time!

Customer service throughout the hotel was excellent. We spent most of our pool time at the Sky Bar pools and Francisco was excellent. Alejandro was very helpful as well. Omar at the preferred club lounge was excellent. Gustavo Garcia was our butler and reached out to us everyday and helped us with anything that we needed. It takes about a day to get used to the layout of the resort with the multiple floors and elevator banks. The only negative is that it is attached to the Dreams resort which is a family resort with lots of children. You cannot avoid the children in the first couple of floors at the resort, but floors 4 and above are adults only. We reserved the Hibachi tables one night and didn't realize that the restaurant and the tables allowed children. The food and presentation was very good but didn't care for all the activity with the children. All other restaurants we ate at were adult only which we preferred. The food was excellent and didn't have anything that we didn't like. We definitely recommend.

Overall we had an amazing time and were impressed by this resort. There were a few small hiccups with check-in and room location that we could mention, but they did not greatly effect our stay and we would love to vacation here again in the future.
