Reviews for Secrets Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort

5 stars for Secrets, - 1 for Dreams

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 21 hours ago

This is our third different Secrets visit. The Secrets resort experience is top notch in terms of the staff and quality of the resort. We're always blown away by how friendly and wanting-to-please the staff are. This particular resort shares half the resort with a Dreams chain which includes children. Typically Secrets is adults-only, having other people's kids around at dinners was occasionally annoying :) Otherwise 5 stars.

A Good Time- Could've Been Better

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

It is a nice resort. We did enjoy our stay. The food was excellent. Service is definitely not as good as other UVC/Secrets resorts. When booking as adults, you should know half of the resort is for kids. We went in November- not as many kids. I can only imagine that the resort is overrun in the summer with families. If you're planning a wedding there, you need to ask lots of questions. The entertainment music overpowered the wedding music and events. Some of the wedding areas were not private or even semi-private.

Very Modern and New!

Food, staff, and facility were excellent. Beach is beautiful and walkable, but not swimmable. It took a couple of days to understand the property layout.

This was the 2nd time we have visited Secrets Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort and it was even better than the first. The service was generally excellent, the food was great, all the staff was respectful and courteous, the room and resort was clean and weather was beautiful.

Overall amazing Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

My husband and I are on our last of 9 days and enjoying Secrets Bahia…this resort is large and on a hill and takes a few days to figure out the various elevators to get to beach, restaurants or entertainment. Be prepared for pressure from Secrets club - we just say no thanks (asked numerous times) and do not book a tour for the free breakfast or beach bag - we prefer to go to various resorts, not one brand. But overall this resort has amazing service and food are some of best we’ve had on our many trips to all inclusives including Mayan, DR & Costa Rica, Greece. Our preferred king room is beautiful and has a lovely view of ocean Marietta Island in the distance, and has been mostly quiet. Doubtful any one room has perfect views of ocean except presidential or high end suites at front of ocean. The hallways can be noisy at night with people returning from parties, we used ear plugs which make it better. We loved the preferred 8th floor for lovely views, quiet atmosphere - again gove some tips for best service. Food at 1:30 is quite good as well on patio. Aolso we used the preferred bars one on 6th floor and other on 8th on Dreams side…they also have snacks there. Restaurants and food choices are so numerous - we tried all Secrets ones for some lunches and all dinners which we enjoyed. Favorites were Portofino, french snd surprise Bluewater grill near beach for both lunch and dinner (great expansive menu). We went to Dreams for their World cafe for lunch there a few times and it was fresh & great at opening for lunch at 1:30. We also ordered their room service night before we wanted breakfast and both times service was prompt and hot. Food here does not disappoint, there is something for everyone and no stomach issues. If anyone complains we are not sire why… Beach is really beautiful…you can walk a very long way down the sand for exercise - the swimming as you may have heard is a problem…we enjoyed a little swim with our water shoes when the tide was out. It was still too scary with the large rocks and waves. But we enjoyed an afternoon there. There also is a little awesome sandy shaded bar right above the beach - check it out after 11 and into the evening, we called it the “secret” bar as no one was ever there and premium drinks and beuty are flowing. Entertainment changes daily and you can do as much or as little depending on your preference. We usually had early dinners and would watch some music or take shuttle to a show in amphitheatre a few mins away. All staff are very helpful and concierge checked with us ( not really assigned a butler on arrival? but think we suppose to). We throughly enjoyed our stay - will likely return…it is a beauty of a resort.
