Casa de Mita

What a beautfiul, romantic setting. Lalo, Memo and Manuel oversee the outdoor dining area, which overlooks the far north end of the Playa Careyeros. The oyster mushroom appetizer was delicious; a steak was perfectly prepared and the fresh fish was outstanding. Their recommendations of Casa Madero wines (some of Mexico's finest from the Valle de Parras in Coahuila) were spot on. We got there before sunset and enjoyed our wine as the sun went down.

It’s not very often that we travel somewhere and want to spend our time doing absolutely nothing, but that’s how we felt on our recent trip to Casita Mia de Mita. Our plans to drive to Sayulita or San Pancho were quickly cast aside and our time was spent either watching whales every morning, wandering along the beach or relaxing by the pool. We cannot say enough about how beautiful this boutique hotel is and how friendly and attentive the staff were. The rooms and grounds were spotless and the food exquisite. It’s easy to see why the other guests were all return visitors. Memo, Lalo, Manuel, Carlos, David, Jonathan, Johanna, Mauricio, and many behind the scenes, make guests feel like royalty! As we enjoy exploring new locations, there aren’t many places we would return to but this is definitely somewhere we can’t wait to go to again!

Mia de Mita lived up to the high expectations we had from all of the great reviews that led us to this wonderful experience. The arrival felt like it was out of a movie. We came down a bumpy dirt road and pulled up outside what looked to be a fairly nondescript home. The driver said, “Is this it?” I really was not sure, but then saw the small logo and rang the bell. Moments later the double doors opened and a beautiful vista opened up before us with stairs leading down into the hotel and, beyond that, the ocean. It was like I was stepping over the threshold from my cares and stress to a verdant world of idyllic, palm-swaying peace. We were taken to our room (king suite #1, highly recommended) and were told come down any time and let them know anything we need. And so, we unpacked, freshened up and went in search of nibbles and a drink. Taking care of guests is baked into the DNA of Mia De Mita. We were welcomed upon sight and within moments, fresh-made guacamole was in front of us and 2 made to spec margaritas. (My wife and I each like our margaritas just-so and, after explaining our preferences, every margarita we received was exactly the way we like them.) Come mealtimes, there is no waiting for a table. Just sit, order and lovely meals come your way. My wife is glucose intolerant and they made her fresh gluten-free bread every day! – and a different kind every day too! I’m sure there are day trips and places to visit, but we just read books, lazed and swam in the warm pool and pristine ocean and walked the mile-long, barely populated beach. All of the staff were exceptional. Special shout outs to Lalo, Memo, Manuel and Carlos. And the owner, Mauricio, was tremendous also. Everyone was just so kind and welcoming. Always a smile and eagerness to take care of you. Perhaps the biggest tell was as we met the other vacationers: every single person that was there, aside from us, was a returning guest. We also will be returning next year. In truth, we don’t do a lot of “super relaxing” vacations, but sometimes it is just what you need. I really cannot imagine any place that will more quicky deliver you into your happy, relaxed and peaceful place than Casita Mia de Mita. See you there.

Read all the previous reviews as they detail what makes this place special. The entire staff Carlos, Charlie, Memo Manuel, Lalo ( forgive me if I forgot someone), the housekeeping and beach staff all make this property stand out. As a guest, there is nothing that won't be done to ensure you are well taken care of. A lounge chair, beach chair and dining table all are available whenever you want. The food is excellent with a wonderful selection. I personally enjoyed drinking the selection of Mexican wine. A stay here is like going to a large private home with a full staff to wait on you. The pictures and reviews are very accurate. I hope to return to this very special beach retreat.

This was our second stay here and I will say when stay a Casita Mia de Mita you aren't just staying at a hotel you are welcomed as if you are part of their family. We have been to many other large AI resorts in Mexico and we enjoy those very much but this hotel is on another level. The food is so good, like it's special made just for you and fresh every time. On our first day I mentioned that my wife really liked sea bass. The last night we were there they served sea bass for her. That's just one example of the service here. Carlos, Jonathan, Lalo, Memo and Manuel and everyone there go above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. I can't say enough about them and hope to see them again soon. The rooms are wonderfully decorated and comfortable and the views from the balcony are perfect. Don't come here expecting foam pool parties and loud music, but if you want to completely unwind, unplug and relax while being waited on by the best staff and eating delicious food this is the place for you. Mauricio does a great job managing and was very helpful in our planning of the trip quickly answering any questions I had. This is a special place and I hope we get back there soon.
