Tucked away on gently sloping, tropical beachfront on the northwest coast of the island, Calabash Cove is one of a few luxury boutique hotels on St. Lucia. Nestled in the sheltered bay of Bonaire Estate, Calabash Cove is perched on a hillside sloping gently towards the Caribbean Sea, where cool ocean breezes provide a wonderful respite and the turquoise sea is offset by the vibrant green of tropical vegetation and views of Walcott Island. A secluded beach sheltered by a nearby coral reef provides the perfect place to rest, reflect and dream. The resort has been designed with great care to complement and exist in harmony with the beauty of its natural surroundings. The main buildings of the hotel, such as the lobby, restaurant, bar, sanctuary, and infinity pool with waterfall offer stunning ocean views, with the Watersedge Cottages amidst lush vegetation perfectly situated to view nightly sunsets.

Very nice well maintained property. Rooms are well appointed and maintained. Staff is very nice and helpful. In my particular case, way too many steps, so be aware if you have problems with stairs you may want to look elsewhere.

It is my first time all inclusive stay. This place set a pretty high standard. The staff has been so attentive and helpful, big ups to Teddy and Shanelle for really holding it down for us this week. The food is incredible. Must try items all over the menus for each meal. Having a cottage is the best part of the stay. Personal pool, 20 yards to the beach, and complete privacy, definitely spent most of our time here, room servicing food and drinks. The restaurant and pool are not a far walk but do be prepared to go up some steep stairs. This is definitely the place for you if you want to just chill out and stay on the resort. No lines, no crowds, not many guests, full and attentive service from a generally positive and friendly staff!

I think this is an excellent place for couples or small groups looking for a very tranquil resort with good food. I would not recommend it for those looking for a true all inclusive type package as I have experienced in the past. In some ways that is a good thing... Positives - Beautiful resort with lots of little areas or vignettes. The grounds people do an excellent job. - Plenty of chairs by the pool and at the beach. Besides a few beach chairs situated under the trees no need for getting up at 0500 and claiming a space. - Food was in general very good (esp for all inclusive) all though a little inconsistent. Be sure to be very specific with cook temps as they tend to over cook. - Air con works great. - Beach swimming area has two floating loungers which was a nice touch. - Gym was adequate. Akin to a Courtyard Marriott. 2 treadmills, 2 bikes, elliptical, one bench and weights up to 50 lbs. - Seemed like high end spirits and there were a few selections of drier decent wines. - Kayaks and stand up paddle boards easily accessible on beach Negatives - At times too quiet, music not always played in restaurant or bar area. As the email they send out everyone seems to be just hanging around reading a book. - Essentially no beach service for food or drinks. This is more of an issue because the pool bar is like 3-4 flights of stairs up from the beach and typically has one bartender working. I think you could on your way down ask them to bring you something. But in our entire week there we saw a server 3 times at the beach. Usually I think this was when someone else had ordered on their way down. Even tried getting a bucket of beers sent down and there was nowhere near enough ice to keep it cold and no opener. Did not even happen when I asked them to please come and check on us as we would like to have some food and drink there. Also means for food have to come up, change for rest, then spend a good 1.5 hrs there in peak beach time because service is typical island slow-ish. - Some attitude from staff if you happened to ask for something that was not typical for them. Ice in room if not during morning mini bar time for example. BTW no where to get your own which I would of been fine with too. In general this made for a mildly uncomfortable environment making us less likely to ask for what we wanted which was perhaps the intent. - Most of staff friendly but again hit or miss. A female concierge told me to look up the excursions on their website and come back to her when I was ready to book when I was trying to get some recommendations. Mind you no one else was around and she did not seem busy at all. Same person ignored me while I was politely standing near her to ask her another question on a different day and Kevin noticed and helped us after it became awkward. - No activity room per se. There is a room next to gift shop that has books and a few board games which was never pointed out. No pool table or area to meet if its a rainy day. We are a couple about 50 yo but probably act more like 40 for better or worse. We typically avoid All - Inclusive stays because the food is usually bad, cant get a chair and in general can handle ourselves. This place kind of had the opposite problem in that the above mentioned was good but it was hard to feel w/o worry and difficult to get served drinks and even low key food. I would not rec the all inclusive package as it stands. I think for the crowd that truly wants quiet calm and beautiful this place is for you. It trends older although there were a few couples 30/40 range. Tips - Think about the "fun to see island" ferry to get up the coast as opposed to a car. - Consider breaking your St Lucia trip into 1/2 in the south where most of the excursions/sites are with typically more austere resorts and 1/2 in the north for more relaxation. Travel to and from the halves can be arduous. For the resort... Loved Travis, he was incredibly personable and helpful every time we saw him. Also thanks to Kevin at the concierge. Big thanks to the grounds staff, great job. I would get rid of the all inclusive option if you are truly looking for the book reading crowd. Perhaps just offer a room and board but no drinks if that is more suitable. You could turn the smoke shack area into a beach bar as well. Im sure it would make a lot of $ as people want a few cold drinks when lounging in the sun on holiday. Could then more easily offer a menu there too that would save guests from having to go to rest and leave the prime beach time unless of course they wanted to.

First impressions of Calabash Cove were pretty good. We arrived to a beautiful sunset and it looked clean and tidy. We were with friends so had 2 rooms. We thought both the rooms were tired and ready for updating. Our bed was creaky and the fitted undersheet didn't fit, the showers are very low on pressure and often not very hot at all, the shower door wouldn't shut properly and the ceiling fan made a terrible noise. The housekeeping was good and cleaned well, however it was missed one day, this was later sorted . Food in the restaurant is average and often things were missing from our order and other hot food was often not very warm. Thankfully we were b&b so only had a couple of evening meals in the hotel. We enjoy walking to shops and restaurants etc but that is really not an option here as the hotel is accessible via a long unmade hilly road so either a hire car or taxi is necessary. Taxis are expensive here and there are no restaurants, bars or shops within easy walking distance and the main road is very busy. The small beach at Calabash Cove is the best part of the hotel, in my opinion, but it isn't actually private and is sometimes accessed by the public, meaning that area isn't adult only. I realise that there are many that keep going back to this hotel year after year so it obviously has its appeal to some. I always leave great reviews if possible and in the last year have stayed in a number of fantastic holiday hotels, but at it's very high price point, sadly this one didn't hit the mark for us.

We booked lunch at the restaurant as a great place to take friends visiting St Lucia on a cruise. We have been numerous times before and find the view spectacular which we knew our guests would enjoy. The staff were friendly and efficient . The food was as normal not great but OK. My biggest complaint is the eye watering cost of wine. The cost of US$236 per couple for a four starters (the ladies had two starters) , two mains and two bottles of wine was due to the incredibly high cost of the Minuty wine. The price of this wine was US$107, the cheapest pink wine was US$75 and the other pink wine was $80. We have an apartment at The Landings which is not a cheap resort and Minuty is US$65 a bottle there. You can buy the wine at wine stores in Rodney Bay for EC$60 We all understand that restaurants have make up the price of wine bur $107 for Minuty - come on. I don’t think lunch at Calabash Cove is on the Meuse for some time to come.
