BEST STAFF EVER

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This was seriously the BEST trip I have ever been on!! My husband and I have never been to a sandals resort and we went for our honeymoon and just WOW every staff member was so happy to be there, good vibes everywhere I cannot stop talking about how NICE everyone was!! So willing to help, smile, greet, pull out our chairs, made us feel so safe, so welcomed. A few staff members that I cannot stop talking about is Delmore, Ja-moi, Keanalee these weren’t just staff members these three were so special to us. Keanalee helped in the photo area walking us to our sunset location, she was so sweet had such a beautiful smile and just such a sweet genuine girl. She helped us find our two favorite photographers Delmore and Ja-moi she was on top of it!! Delmore and Ja-moi were the BEST the 7 days that we were there we built such a good relationship with them, they told us all the great spots to enhance our honeymoon Delmore told us all the ins and outs best places to eat, take pictures, great excursion recommendations and always willing to help us with anything, he was on TOP of it, he even made us a sweet photo in the sand of his handwriting and it was a complete surprise!! Ja-moi was such a sweet friend, he felt like family so nice, great at taking photos made us feel so special!! They made our trip so so good!! I cried leaving them it was seriously the best time ever!!

Never disappoints!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This was our third trip to Sandals Antigua and it never disappoints. The beach, the ocean, the pool, the food, the entertainment and the spa all added up to a wonderful experience. A special shout out to the amazing Entertainment team, especially Lynette and Super J at the main pool. The aquatic show is a must - really awesome! Also, a big shout out to my amazing masseuse, Keisha! The Antiguan people are friendly, fun and happy. We will definitely come back “home” again.. if you’re wondering if you should book it, do it!

Excellent

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We stayed the last week of April 2026 at Sandals Grande Antigua and it was a fabulous trip. All and all we had a much needed vacation and enjoyed this resort and would come back again. Here are some tips/notes that we think would help someone else make an informed decision about wanting to stay at this resort. CROWD: we were worried we’d be the “old” ones at 50, but the crowd was 30’s-80’s approximately. The vibe was a little more reserved and nightly outdoor entertainment was done by 10pm nightly (DJ’s inside the pub or piano bar sing alongs started then through whatever time). AIRPORT: the Sandals desk is outside across a street for check in. I would say about 20 steps from the airport door to check in, nothing crazy. The ride is about 20 minutes from the airport and at no time during our stay did we hear any noise from the airport. BEACH/OCEAN: perfect, sugary sand. A nice expanse of beach to walk (about 5-8 minutes in each direction). Water looks gorgeous and it is but a bit murky which was surprising. Still clean and not a lot of seaweed, but no fish/snorkeling right off the sand/at the beach. Snorkeling tours are included/offered at Sandals, but we did not attend any of these. Beach is public and there are a decent amount of vendors who walk every day hawking their wares, but NOT intrusive at all. A polite “no thank you” and they move on. I was worried that my view would be of nothing but people/vendors and not relaxing, but this was absolutely NOT the case. Beach was not overcrowded. BUTLER SERVICE: if you can swing it, THIS is the way to go! No worrying about restaurant reservations, no beach lounger “games"- they do this all for you and then some. Well worth the price. They make you feel special and taken care of- shout out to Lala, Kevin and Dillon! Truly a wonderful experience. ROOM: we had the Caribbean Honeymoon Beachfront Butler Suite, top floor room 714. Room was nice, could use some maintenance, but paying for a stunning view, right on the beach. Be sure to ask for top floor if available, there are only 2 of these rooms. The downstairs are walk outs, facing bushes and are and eye level with vendor tents (not appealing) and I would assume buggy. Our room was nicely appointed but could have been maintained better. Caribbean clean, not ever smelling like cleaning products, not “dirty” per say but I had wanted to take a bath in our Roman tub and quickly decided against it after one look. Things like the dust on the TV console (a lot of it) and in the bathroom shelves (where the glasses were for tooth brushing- that we never used) were never cleaned. Towels were replaced inconsistently, and we had to ask for more toiletries (shampoo, body wash etc) and the bathroom smelled of mildew. The bathroom had two windows with wooden slats and screens that are open to the outdoors. They are encased so guests cannot operate them and the slats are closed/keep privacy, but….WHY? What function other than making the bathroom HOT all the time does this serve? So to keep the bedroom cold at night we had to close the bathroom door and brave the heat/humidity when getting up at night to pee. SMOKING: for a non-smoking resort, this was not enforced and there were guests smoking on the beaches and vaping at all the entertainment outdoors every night. Disappointing. There are designated smoking areas on property. RESTAURANTS/DRINKS: Perfect portions at restaurants and you can always order more. Best meals were Bayside (French/reservation required/sit down dinner at night) and Mario’s (Italian). And I had poo-pooed the Italian as not coming to the Caribbean for an “Italian meal” and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and authenticity of the meal. Well done! Drinks were hit or miss, depending on the bartender. Nice thing about an all inclusive is that if the drink was poor, you can walk a bit to another bartender/location and get another, hopefully better one. ENTERTAINMENT: too much of the same thing- singers/bands. Too many of the same songs heard on each night. Beach BBQ- BUGGY on the sand. Spray more than you think you need, trust me. The Beach BBQ band was good, but went on too long and too many songs that we didn’t know so it was boring. The fire dancers stole the show for sure and are not to be missed. Loved the aquatic show and headphone party. Also really enjoyed the daytime DJ games- bingo, name that tune, dance lessons. Would like to see some sort of inconsequential prizes awarded to winners of these day time games/events (like a sticker, something- make the guests feel SPECIAL). Right now they gather points for each game and the “winner” at the end of the week gets something. Not fun for those who screw up nerve to participate and get nothing. Again, something silly/cheap works. Enjoyed the afternoon events that were not DJ/games as well like jewelry making, paint and sip etc. Something different to break up the day. My husband and I both wished for more steel pan and island music piped in/around the resort. DJ/dance/reggae music is great but wanted a different vibe sometimes. Shout out to the entertainment team: Juju, Special J, Amanda and Junior/Batman. CATS: we are allergic but were just fine. They do not bother you at all and this was not an issue. BUGS: a night the no seeums/sand fleas/flies are pretty relentless. We brought spray and put on our “normal” amount and needed a LOT more than that and full coverage. Then we weren’t bothered.
