El Dorado Casitas Resort, an adults-only all-inclusive that fronts a manicured beach 15 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. Instead, culinary excellence takes center stage here, offering up everything from upscale Italian concoctions to Mexican street food. During the day, water is the main draw: Thirteen swimming pools meander through the property, with almost as many swim-up bars. For an added treat, book a palapa-roofed casita that connects a private terrace to the property’s lazy river.
Forget what it feels like to walk anywhere – from your room, step into a pool and float down gently flowing waterways to fetch a fresh papaya and pineapple smoothie from the health bar. Lounge on a white sand beach and take a dip in the Gulf of Mexico. Request a lime with your afternoon cerveza. Watch the sunset at a beachfront restaurant and order a salad with no hesitation – vegetables are grown onsite in an organic greenhouse.

Our personal concierge Wilma was outstanding. Made our stay a 10 out of 10. Bar tenders Julio and Manuel went out of their way to provide us a great experience at the swim up pool. Already booking for next trip.. All restaurants were first class, waiters remembered us from our previous trip.. All resort staff were super friendly and some went out of their way to help us..

We couldn't have asked for a better first experience at El Dorado Casitas Royale—it was amazing! Our swim-up casita was a perfect base: so much space, a ridiculously comfortable bed, and the luxury of choice with a massive indoor shower, an outdoor shower, and a tub. Being able to just swim right up to the bar for a refill was pure vacation bliss. The true standout service from Julio and Wilma at Casitas section 30. Wilma made our trip feel extra special; she was consistently checking in to see if we needed anything. We loved the diverse food scene. We had great breakfasts (Santa Fe was a favorite!), but we couldn't resist going to the Thai restaurant twice for dinner. Plus, the ease and accuracy of the room service—always spot on and delivered fast—made for effortless meals. Ordering food, lunch/dinner reservations, and even supplies/amenities through the resort website was a breeze. The resort's expansive layout gives it a special, exclusive feel. With guests so spread out, our little slice of the pool/beach was quiet and uncrowded. It truly felt like a private retreat! We are already planning our next trip back.

We had a wonderful time at El Dorado Casitas Royale! It was our first time there. The swim-up room was very spacious and the bed was truly comfortable! We had a huge shower and also an outdoor shower and a bathtub. We were right by the bar so it was an easy swim to get more drinks. Jacobo and Wilma were our concierge staff and they were both great! Wilma came by almost every day to see if we needed anything. She brought our friends a birthday cake at the pool! We had breakfast at Santa Fe twice and at the buffet once and both were good. Our favorite dinner option was the Thai place (we went twice)! We also ordered room service almost every day and it was always exactly what we ordered and arrived within an hour. There are many bar options and food options. The resort felt like a private one, as it is so large the people were very spread out. There were never more than 10 people at our pool/beach area. That was nice! We will definitely consider this place for future trips!

Wilma was an amazing concierge and on top of everything...thanks Wilma!!! We stayed in the Casitas with swimout rooms, loved this! Very relaxing and quiet. We had a fridge in our room stocked daily and 24 hr room service. The Royal side had more of a party atmosphere and Casita guests could access the Royal side. An app showing restaurants with menus and detailed entertainment information would have been super helpful. We could seek out the information but an app would have made this much easier. Our casita was clean and well maintained, outdoor shower was incredible. Lazy river connecting Casitas and pool bar was great. I would stay here again.

. It took two hours to get our room after a 2pm arrival. 2. The restaurant we waited at for our room to be ready (Asian) took 40 minutes to get food. The portions were very small and my food was cold. My girlfriend’s food was piping hot. 3. When we got to our room I showed the bellman the water stain on the floor. He’s said “ don’t worry, it’s fine”. During the night, water was all over the floor (same place as the water stain). Unfortunately, while she was up, there was no power. That means now AC — high humidity. No phones to call the desk. No water. When the water turned on the next day, black water came out of the pipes!! 4. Want a different room? NO! Then I was told my room had a KNOWN ROOF LEAK! Really! So now I must change rooms. I was told “no later than 3pm. At 1 pm I inform them I need to be in Playa Del Carmen at 3 and I could move later in the evening or before I leave at 2:30. I’m told “10 minutes”. My girlfriend gets out of the shower, I’m still in sweaty pool clothes, and we pack everything up. The phone rings and the tell me now the “room will be ready 45 or so minutes”. Now what?!?! I’m packed, sweaty and have no where to shower. Why is this happening? Complete incompetence. 5. Of our aggravation we’re offered a beach dinner and spa treatments. We book the spa treatments for Sunday. There’s cheap swindlers only give us 25 minute massages!!! Then they bail on the beach dinner! They are a shady bunch! 6. Sunday is a great day. We have our massages, float around the pool, plenty of blender drinks and just a relaxing time. Then it’s 3 pm. It’s time to get rested cleaned up so we can go to get some pre dinner cocktails. It’s impossible to relax and get clean when, AGAIN, NO HOT WATER. Nobody tells you it out. Nobody tells you when or if it’s back on. El Dorado does not have adequate backup generators. We stayed in a Casita with. Private pool on the second floor. $3,000 for four nights. Do not waste your time or money here. There are much better places to give your paycheck to that has newer and working facilities. Room service was the best part of the trip. The food was average, fast and hot enough.
