For 900 years, Amberley Castle has enjoyed a quiet existence near the picturesque village of Amberley in Englandâ€(TM)s West Sussex countryside. Today, it remains a prime example of medieval architectureâ€"complete with moatâ€"while serving as a lavish small hotel. This member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux collection boasts just 19 bedrooms and suites, each individually transformed to complement the architecture. Every day here is a keepsake, ending with the spectacle of the awesome, two-ton oak portcullis being lowered for the night.

Spent two nights at Amberley Castle with family. Brilliant place to stay full of history. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Their knowledge was exemplary. Would recommend a stay here.

We were checked in on arrival early with a friendly smile and shown to our room where our cases were waiting and jackets hung in the wardrobe. Had a quick walk around the grounds, but the weather wasn’t that nice. We opted for the 5 course menu with a wine flight. The service was impeccable and the meals were delicious. There were plenty of staff on duty even though a big function had taken place in the big hall. Breakfast was equally nice.

For a while now I've wanted to have afternoon tea at Amberley Castle, finally enroute we booked it for my birthday. It exceeded my expectations, the afternoon tea was delicious, we sat in a room on a comfortable seetee, it was very relaxing, there was no rush, just a lovely relaxing setting. I would definitely recommend coming here for afternoon tea, a nice little touch, I got a cupcake with Happy Birthday on it, lovely surprise. The staff was very attentive and very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. Definitely book it!

A lovely castle with plenty of history, but in need of some updating. We had a very nice quiet room but the shower pressure was poor and it would be nice to have a door on the loo! Service was ramshackle, no proper bar or waiting staff, no-one seemed to know wha they were doing. We gave up on a bottle of wine at dinner as most seemed unavailable and we had finished our starter before we were offered anything else. Food was pedestrian. A potentially delightful stay let down by poor staffing

Absolutely do not book this place if you want a guaranteed booking. Having booked three months ago for a bank holiday weekend this coming summer I just received a call to say they were cancelling my booking due to a booking error. Absolute jokers. Of course now there are now suitable family rooms available at this short notice for bank holiday weekend at comparable places.
