Wonderful and festive holiday ambience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed here for two nights, arriving after dark for the first night. The hotel had just decorated itself for the holidays, including very festive lighting at reception, in the restaurant, and a lighted tunnel during the ride up to our building. Even the minivan shuttle had a mini Hyatt wreath hanging from the rear view mirror. Our stay was the weekend before holidays, so the hotel was starting to get busy the morning we checked out. We used the free hotel shuttle to get between reception/restaurant and our building which was rather high up on the hill. We just called the front desk to request any pickup or dropoff. We were the only passengers on the shuttle about half the time. DiDi drivers will drive up to the lobby for trips into/from Badaling, although our early train going back to Beijing didn't get any takers until I upgraded to a premium ride. The rooms were very clean. Our building was 100% Scandinavian themed, down to the IKEA furniture and extremely spartan walk-in shower and tub with a large window. The design suited my spouse perfectly. The (non-Scandinavian) Haier mini fridge worked perfectly The reception staff and drivers were extremely friendly, although they spoke very limited English. The food at the restaurant was excellent. There was a quite a large selection for breakfast, and we also got a meal voucher which we used for a very substantial dinner. The voucher was good for just a single meal so we ordered as many different items as we could within the voucher amount, but we couldn't finish everything despite skipping lunch earlier in the day. Leeli at reception was also helpful in telling our DiDi driver we have high speed train tickets so we could get dropped off inside the Badaling zone which is normally off-limits to cars, taxis, and DiDi drivers.

Short getaway

去走水關長城選擇了這酒店。住竹屋七,非常漂亮。入住時Ella Cathy Coco跟Linda也很細心,給我們 member 免費早餐。淡季時也安排擺渡車我們去水關長城,體驗很棒 Wild Great Wall experience for everyone. It’s steep but doable in 2 hours. The hotel is great, check in particularly warm with great staff Ella Coco Cathy and Linda, gave us a ride to Great Wall when it’s low season. Good choice of breakfast spread. Recommend a short getaway. Free pickleball and badminton indoor.

Great Experience, Great Scenery, Great Wall!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

A very good and exciting experience overall, especially with the convenient access to three nearby Great Wall sections, each offering a unique atmosphere and view. The scenery within the resort compound is beautiful, especially toward the end of the year when everything feels peaceful and close to nature. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay. They responded quickly to all our requests and were very informative.

In essence - great location with some limitations....

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

Nica hotel in a great location - but there is a BID but for foreigners - almost nobody of the main hotel staff (reception, lobby bar, restaurant etc.) speaks more the VERY basic english. The minute you have a bit more complex problem, your are lost without smartphone translation support. This of course worksm but is tedious. The food choices at breakfast a good, but also somewhat limited for a 5* hotel. And again - communication is an issue, when can not even ask for the food you want. Another limitation was the fact, that the pool was closed with a smallest drop of rain (why - at 30C this is warm rain and I do not really care about rain, when I want to swim. ANd there is no Gym (at least I could not find one and this was already my 2nd stay in this hotel). On the plus side: Rooms a nice and big, everything was clean and well maintained.

Great place for a short break to escape BJ. Should increase appeal to young parents and small kids.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

Stayed here as a break with our 3-year old daughter. Very good quality rooms, good service. Beautiful surrounding. Sadly - although 30C during the day - pool didn’t open yet. Although there is something for kids, it misses a basic playground which could. Over the weekend many young parents and kids. Some percs are included.
