My fiancee and I have just returned from an unforgettable engagement trip to Azura Benguerra, and are already wishing we were back in paradise! Her words to me as we paddles the kayak over the azure waters, overlooking the small archipelago from a small distance away - palm trees and white beaches - were 'this holiday feels like a dream'. It was a feeling that we both shared, and fell in love with the location, the people, and everything else that went with it. The resort and location are stunning, but I have to begin this review with the people. From the warm welcomes from Shannon and Olivia, to the friendly, attentive and efficient service from our host, Hala, to the rapid refills of our delicious cocktails from Elton and the bar staff, it was just a pleasure to see so many genuinely smiling faces. Everyone knew our names, made a point to congratulate us on the engagement, and made us feel extra special. We loved the villa too - a royal villa towards the northern end of the beach that allowed us to get a good few steps in as we walked to and from the main areas. The views over the beach and ocean were spectacular, and sitting in the Sala to watch the sunset each night (with a daily cocktail brought to the villa) was just a magical time of day. The beds were huge and comfortable, and the aircon ensured we slept well. Large bath tubs and both indoor and outdoor showers were supplied with good water pressure and piping hot water - always impressive for an off-grid camp! The swimming pool and multiple outdoor seated areas ensured we got to enjoy plenty of outdoor time in comfort, and could cool off easily in the refreshing infinity pool. The dining was always delicious and full of flavours, and even as a non-fish eater, there were always good options for me - but the fish was so fresh and tasty, that I ended up eating that too! The breakfast pao is well worth trying! Breads were freshly made, and it was always a treat to see what the chefs would produce. A day at the peri peri beach club was wonderful - a nice setting, and change of scenery, but what we enjoyed most was the opportunity to meet the other guests and get to know them, and while the Benguerra resort is more private than Marlin, we soon learnt that it was still quite a social vibe around the bar in the evenings, and got to know most the guests that came and went during our stay - kind of like the end of a day on safari, it was good to exchange stories of what the day held whilst sipping a cocktail at the end of it. Activity wise, there was a lot on offer for water enthusiasts, from deep sea fishing to scuba excursions. We enjoyed the island hop, and aside from enjoyable snorkelling, marvelled at their lunch time set up on a sandy beach in the middle of nowhere! A few reviews mention the tidal nature of the island, and it is extreme, but we did not see it in a negative light - the beauty of the waters rising and falling made it even more special...and the water itself was perfect - clean, calm, azure and oh-so-warm! All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and created memories for a lifetime. It is one thing to have a great location, but the trip would not have been the same if it weren't for the staff...so thank you to Amos, Olivia, Shannon, Hala, Elton, Teles and all the other members that took care of us - it is greatly appreciated! Hope to be back one day!

A magical beautiful relaxing treat of a resort on the lovely Benguerra island. Be prepared to not want to leave. The staff are the stars of the show with their thoughtfulness and care. The villas are so comfortable with indoor and outdoor showers and a pool for your exclusive use.my favorite spot to relax is the beach bed at the entrance of the villa

We had a phenomenal honeymoon at Azura. Thank you to our host Agostino for your service and care. We stayed 5 nights and it was pure luxury. We were greeted by staff as we landed from the helicopter. Our bags taken to our rooms while management showed us around. Incredible sunny welcome with high tide so the water was very inviting. Our villa was perfect. Every morning we’d open up all the sliding doors to hear the ocean. We loved the outdoor shower and was impressed by housekeeping (Moises) who did our stay over and turn over each day with mopping floors everyday and always a beautiful gift or surprise on the bed. We were there over Easter too so the resort had eggs all over the place! Such lovely touches along with little gifts in the room. Highly recommend Azura for honeymoon as they do go the extra mile to make it special for couples. We found the food to be excellent. Variety and quality was exceptional. I liked the smaller portions as most meals were at least 3 courses. Lots of fresh seafood which is a spoil. We did couples massage, snorkelling, scuba, dhow cruise, island drive, and paddle boarding activities - all highly recommend. We saw turtles, dolphins, every beautiful fish you could imagine! We never got bored but I do think you need to be a pure beach person for a holiday like this. It’s a lovely remote island that blends in with nature and local community, not change it into something it isn’t. I saw other guests with teens and young kids and they were having a great time just playing with kayaks and in the sand. They didn’t need much more. It’s a place to slow down and enjoy the moment. My only note would be the staff use WhatsApp Groups to communicate with you before and during your stay, no landline phone in the room. It’s efficient and unique and highly personalised (they send you morning hellos with weather of the day, exclusive discounts on the spa for the day only, fun day of activities like candle making, you can ask any questions to the whole management team) but if you’re wanting to go unplugged like I was, you miss key messages like this avoiding your phone. Not the end of the world. WiFi works everywhere at resort except if you move far away from buildings (eg WiFi was weak if I laid right on the ocean edge). We barely wore shoes the whole trip as we walked along beach to and from reception to villa so don’t feel you need to pack too much! We adored the private villa dinner too… again such a spoil! I can’t recommend Azura enough. Really wish we didn’t have to leave. Other guests we met on helicopter had stayed many times and highly recommended Azura Marlin so we’ll have to come back for that!
