Chateau de Bagnols

Château de Bagnols is simply stunning – a perfect mix of history, luxury, and charm. Beautiful rooms, excellent dining, and warm, attentive staff made our stay unforgettable. A true fairytale escape!

We have been coming to the Chateau for 20 years and have never had need to point out issues. Been absolutely excellent in previous years. We use Relais et Chateau for all our hotels in Europe. You seem to have a new team in the area in front of kitchens. Not successful in my opinion. Issues: 1. Confusion at breakfast on both mornings regarding teas and coffees order. 2. Ordered a glass of red wine, second afternoon, was end of bottle so dregs ruined taste after 50% drunk. 3. I had already paid for second evening meal after the meal and then one of your team came over and was verbally aggressively, imo, wanting to know why I was leaving without paying. 4. NO hot meal available at breakfast first morning, hot plates had not been replenished. 5. Chicken on second evening had clearly been cooked earlier, possibly kept in a hot plate, so dry and tough to cut. 6. Wine choice severely limiting unless you want a full bottle. 7. Food choice, at least on Mondays and Tuesdays is very limited.

We paid for a suite, but bed was much too narrow for a grown son and his mum. He was subsequently put on an extendable chair which was 15 cms too short for him, and creaked at his every movement. The dining areas were around 17 degrees Celsius; impossible to sit in, in a nice evening attire. I had to wear a sweater for breakfast this morning. Incredible. We checked out after 2 out of 4 days, and asked for a refund of 1 of those 4 nights. This was flatly declined by a snooty manager. Generally, the rooms lacked the amenities required by a current day 5-star operation. We are happy we checked out today since the whole chateau was taken over by a wedding party as we left.

If you are in the area and the weather is nice good for a coffee on the terrace or an apperetief. Do take into account appertief only served until 1745. And the wine although good is not necessarily worth the 16 euro (or tea the 8 euro) But the view is lovely

This is the most spectacular venue. A really great team too who look after you very well. Food was excellent and room was great. All in all a magnificent experience and we look forward to stopping for 2 nights next time on our drive down.
