Chabil Mar

My wife and I stayed at Chabil Mar for three nights. We had a garden suite, near the reception and office, and we loved the room. It was huge, with a full living room, kitchen, separate bedroom with en suite, and a large deck in front. The room was nicely decorated with lots of wood furniture, local artwork and colorful tiles. The grounds are well maintained and nicely landscaped. The beach is not very large and the sea is not the postcard-Caribbean-blue we see in many other places. Placencia is generally not as picturesque as other Caribbean sites. Chabil Mar is one the closest luxury resorts to the town. It is about 1 mile walk to the north end of town by the road, but the road is not the best for walking. We walked on the beach instead, much more pleasant. The resort has a shuttle, but because of traffic and construction in town, it was not a fast option. We had breakfast each day and one dinner, from the resort's menu. The resort does not have a restaurant, but has an extensive menu and will deliver to the room or one of the beachside tables. Breakfast was fine, the dinner was mediocre. Service was excellent - all staff were friendly and helpful.

Chabil Mar is a beautiful property right on the beach in Placencia and not far from town. There was some seaweed in the ocean, but every morning, workers were raking it up so it didn't matter. The property, with flowers everywhere, was beautifully maintained and very clean. We loved eating breakfast at the pier and also at our 1 bedroom villa on our private deck. We also had a washer and dryer which was great after being in the jungle! The birds were plentiful and sang many different songs each day. We loved the two pools and although the property was full, we had the pools mostly to ourselves! We swam in the ocean briefly because the wind was an issue and the water a bit choppy. Unfortunately, due to the wind, we couldn't use the paddle boards or kayaks. The drinks at Chabil Mar were delicious! We mostly ate lunches and dinners off property, but the food we did eat at Chabil Mar was very good. The free shuttle was great to be able to use from 4pm-10pm. Lacho was our shuttle driver and he was soooo accommodating and friendly. We only wish the shuttle ran all day as it was very hot to walk the beach to town in the morning. Walking to town on the street would have been tricky because there wasn't always a sidewalk. This was one the reasons we didn't use the bikes offered by Chabil Mar. The whole staff at Chabil Mar was friendly and helpful. They got us dinner reservations at Turtle Inn and contacted Captain Jak's for us when we had a question. We did a snorkeling trip with Captain Jak's to Silk Cayes and Moho Caye for a great day out on the water. I would definitely stay at Chabil Mar again if I am ever lucky enough to visit Belize again. The property is stunning, safe and the staff incredible! Thank you for a great visit!

Chabil Mar is a fabulous place to visit! The location is the perfect balance for relaxing and also venturing out to explore. The staff is outstanding and goes above and beyond to make your stay an exceptional experience!! Villa 8 was wonderful and provided 3 gorgeous views of the oceanfront, Dolphin and Palm pools. Absolutely fantastic experience. The room was large and really nice. Pools were fantastic. The staff was wonderful. And the food was really tasty and it was soo cool eating wherever we wanted, especially on the pier. Loved the whole time and wish it could have lasted another week. We'll be back!
