Reviews for The K Club

Oh dear, simple things let us down.

A birthday treat for fiends, imagine the excitement of spending time as a group celebrating a friend’s birthday. A most memorable hotel with a concierge second to none, take a well deserved bow Michael, your knowledge of the hospitality industry is truly amazing. A beautiful room overlooking the river Liffey in full flow following a recent storm with the comforting touch of a turndown service. Quiet, relaxing and amazing in equal measure. The former “Straffan House” has been meticulously restored and decorated and is an absolute joy to resident in. Warm log fires before bed with superb cocktails have created wonderful memories. Then why the review? The Palmer dining experience is unfortunately below the 5 star rating of this wonderful hotel, well below. Let’s just leave it there and look forward to the renovations of the fine dining restaurant of the main house. Such a pity!

Excellent 5⭐ hotel, but outdated Spa

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Very good 5 star hotel, but I just wanted to comment on the spa or pool area, which is very outdated and not a relaxing, tidy or serene place for adults to relax, probably just ok for kids or families.

Overall an excellent stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Am amazing weekend with my husband for his birthday. The staff here are second to none. They are very attentive and good at their jobs. The hotel itself is beautiful and the grounds are amazing. I had a massage in the spa by sarah who was wonderful and gave me an excellent massage. The straffan inn is a lovely little bar with a much more relaxed vibe where we had excellent pizzas. We had dinner in the Barton which was nice but I have had nicer. The overall stay was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The reasons for the 4 star review is 2 things: the breakfast really wasn't up to standard. The continental portion of the breakfast was actually nicer than the cooked breakfast. And the second reason is after my massage in the spa while in the relaxation room my phone rang (I had been in there one hour after being told to stay as long as I want) and it was the spa. The lady on reception thought i had left. She later apologised but it made me feel uncomfortable like I they thought I was ditching on paying.

Outstanding Staff & Customer Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Just checked out after a 2 night break, we had an amazing stay. The level of customer service from each and every member of staff was amazing, they totally make the hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and styled in keeping with the hotels ethos. Dinner in the Barton Grill was superb, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Cocktails in The Blue Martini were 100%. The Straffan Inn was a great wee traditional irish pub. The shuttle service around the estate is fabulous. My husband thoroughly enjoyed playing golf on both courses. The grounds and outdoor facilities, so much to do. Spa treatment was fantastic and spa area very tranquil and relaxing. Will definetely return, but in the summer season. Thanks to all the amazing staff...

Awful

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Shocking. Had the worst meal of my life in South (one of the golf club restaurants). The shuttle to and from the hotel was horrendous, felt entirely sick after both trips. Cocktails in the Cocktail bar were diabolical. Half filled glass for a margarita with dried flakes on the side and pre-packed lime juice. The staff’s response to our complaint about the meal in South was not good enough. Room we stayed in was totally outdated. Overall, a shockingly poor experience and I will never return.
