In the heart of Shakespeareâ€(TM)s homeland, Billesley Manor Hotel immerses you in the romance of historic England. This beautiful Elizabethan house is set in 11 tranquil acres just outside the bardâ€(TM)s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon. Each element of the estate captures the essence of the region, from gourmet dining at Stuart Restaurant to accommodations that include romantic 4-poster bedrooms. While here you can indulge in the privileges of landed gentry, such as tennis, spa treatments or a game of croquet on the lawn next to the topiary gardens.

This review is for a couples day spa package, which included two treatments and lunch. When we arrived at the spa in the morning we were informed that there were no therapists available to give my boyfriend a massage, which we were really disappointed by. The male changing rooms had two broken showers (only one worked) and the swimwear dryer was out of order. The pool is quite small and gets crowded easily, making swimming lengths impossible at times. There is also very limited relaxation space inside and the poolside needs some tlc (broken plant pots, stained loungers). We thought the lunch provided was a good quality and a decent portion size, but the mocktails were quite average. Overall, a disappointing experience.

For a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, it was very underwhelming. Yes, it's a stately 1500's manor house but to be honest, they are lacking not only the need to upkeep in the rooms but also the employee positivity to guests. Rooms were very bare, carpet was very stained in the room we stayed in (plus it had a very musty smell in the room). Bed was very hard (not the usual comfort as per I expect from Marriott hotels). Considering this is a manor house, you would think that they would spend a bit more time ensuring that ecclectic feel would flow through to the rooms. The rooms were decorated bascially like a cheap motel room. The staff did not welcome us nor did they even offer to help give us appropriate directions to our room (the amount of staircases and corridors that are in a manor house are crazy and unless you really know the lay out, for anyone who has never visited, believe me - you can get lost!). No one offered to even help us with luggage. It wasn't until we were struggling with our bags past the bar that one of the bar staff offered to help us. Please don't get me wrong - the amazing history of the building, the grounds -- they were all beautiful, but the rooms left a lot to be desired and the staff? Wow, I'd be sitting them all down and giving them a good discussion about positive engagement with guests.

I booked and paid for an ESPA Inner Calm Massage (120 mins) same as I'd had 2yrs ago, which had been utterly wonderful and I was really looking forward to having again. I wasn't advised, but I had a stand in masseuse who didn't know the venue's packages, so simply gave me a deep tissue massage - the same treatment that another 2 of our party of 5 received, only one had actually booked that! The massage finished quite abruptly after 55 mins without my facial, which I said I'd paid for, they proceeded to show me their paper schedule and repeat, "it says 55 mins." After to-ing and fro-ing they checked with reception and confirmed I was correct, so did my facial - again this was different from the one I'd booked and paid for. There was no-one on reception to discuss my treatment with, when I came out of the spa. I didn't want to protract the situation after leaving the spa itself, as I simply wanted to rejoin my group as it was an annual weekend away with close friends, so didn't report this at the main reception of Billesley Manor, believing I'd be able to email them today, but I cannot find anyway of contacting them, other than phoning up - and I really don't like that method of contact - I can find no 'contact us' option on their website, which is also very poor.

I’m an Ambassador member and just got done with a two night stay here, it’s a new property to the tribute family of hotels even though it’s about an 800 year old property. Now let me break down the three stars here before I get further: Pros: - Grounds are beautiful - Staff are great - Vibe and setting of the hotel is amazing - Isolated setting is peaceful Cons: - Hotel rooms need major facelift to get up to Marriott brand standards - It’s almost too isolated and hard to find anything around it - Lots of bugs around the property and in room (potential overall cleanliness issues as there were lots of dead bugs in our two rooms) - There’s a couple poisonous plants in the garden which you should be careful not to rub on accident (our daughter got a crazy rash from rubbing into one) - Needs a lot of work to become a true Marriott property. - Wall unit A/C’s - Rooms don’t deadbolt and the door frames are all dry rotted out (we were rooms 23 and 24)

Absolutely appalling service from what is supposedly a 5* establishment. Poor quality rooms and pub standard food! We arrived with no children in hope to make the most of facilities, the area etc, and unfortunately ended up leaving before treatments. We paid for the deluxe suite, which had a connecting door to the room next door. Meaning all activities next door we could hear clear as day. They were partying till 2am and we eventually got moved to a downgrade with no bath, aircon, fridge facilities etc. There was no apology, we left before our spa treatments as we needed to drive home and get some rest before collecting our children, in which we are still, 2 and half weeks awaiting a refund with our emails being ignored. As for the food, we paid for the restaurant for one waiter to tell us ‘I don’t want you to complain but the beef is really small and not worth the money’ the wrong order came out, then when ours cam was microwave meal standard. We paid £12 for the cheese board for it to come with 3 SMALL pieces of cheese, one of which you can get unlimited amount at breakfast but there tight with how much you can have on the cheese board (a small arla cheese finger) Appalling customer service. Really underwhelming for £445

We spent 4 glorious November days in the English countryside near Stratford Upon Avon in the Billesley Manor. It was everything and more than we expected. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted and sent to our spacious manor house room overlooking an English garden. Each morning the English breakfast was delicious. The Billesley Manor's location was perfect for our exploration of England and we would recommend it highly.
