Locanda in Tuscany

Wow wow wow! What a beautiful hotel. From the beautiful drive with view upon view of the tuscan hills to our stunning room which had panoramic views all around of the local area! The staff at locanda were so friendly and welcoming and greeted us with a lovely glass of freshly made lemonade before checking is into our room. During our 4 night stay we visited the nearby towns Pienza being our favorite as evey single detail has been designed to ensure your view is magical and only a 20 min drive away. We also took the opportunity to do a cooking class with the chef of the hotel where we learnt to make pici pasta and cantucci both of which we got to eat at the end. Whist this experience is quite pricey at £140pp it was well worth the money as we both left knowing exactly how to make both with confidence, and the chef was the nicest lady and so funny too, oh and patient!! We also had and beautiful evening meal where all the food was delicious and based around local dishes and ingredients. Breakfast was lovely and we especially enjoyed the fresh juices and pastries! Another lovely experience was a picnic in the garden that we enjoyed at sunset with fresh dishes and wine provided and Sara our waitress could not have done more for us. Thank you for making our stay to celebrate my partners birthday so special.

What a lovely retreat! The setting is spectacular, ideal for morning walks through the rolling green hills. After a swim in the pool, breakfast was superb: locally grown items in abundant variety. It felt like coming home from a day roaming the countryside, all conveniently w/in a few hours drive: wineries, a cheese "farm," Montepulciano and more. Superb personalized attention and comfortable tasteful rooms. Such great memories...

We had a good stay at Locanda in Tuscany. The location is an ideal base to explore the surrounding towns of Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano and others. We enjoyed the food and service in the restaurant. We also got a great recommendation from Sara the host to visit the to the thermal springs nearby.

Now the hotel is quite literally in the middle of nowhere - 25-30min drive from nearby towns like Pienza, Montalcino etc. However it's a great choice if you'd like to experience the typical Tuscan countryside. The room style is rustic charm, the interior is simple but rooms are all very well-maintained. There was a big temperature drop when we were there, so I especially appreciated the warm water in the shower, perfect after a day of exploring Tuscany. The heater/AC worked perfectly as well. Our room also came with an outside terrace, so it was nice to chill outside during the day and enjoy the sun. The hotel is small, only a few rooms, so public facility is limited. Breakfast is served in the restaurant (also small), but the food is very fresh and tasty. My only critique would be that because the hotel is small, the dinner options in the restaurant was quite limited, only a few a la carte pasta/meat options. But to dine outside would mean driving 30min to a nearby town, so keep that in mind if you do not like driving at night, especially because there are no road lights on the highways so it would be completely dark.

Exceptional location and team. Marco and Natasha were super attentive to all of our requests and helped make our stay magical. Would definitely recommend if you want to immerse yourself in the heart of Val d’orcia
