About the Hotel

Locanda in Tuscany is a luxury country resort immersed in the boundless rolling farmlands of the UNESCO heritage site, Val d'Orcia. Ideal for a honeymoon or a break with your family and friends, the building is a private country mansion from the 17th century, totally renovated in the Tuscan tradition and in authentic country-chic style. In keeping with a bio-ethic philosophy of re-use, the original Tuscan antique furniture was renovated and brought back to life.

Our guests can enjoy an authentic and customized experience with personalized service. Before your arrival, you can choose to sleep in cotton-linen or cotton-satin bed sheets and also choose what kind of welcome drink you’d enjoy. Please let us know if you need particular amenities to have in the room such as coffee and tea facilities, additional hangers or additional blankets.

What a lovely retreat! The setting is spectacular, ideal for morning walks through the rolling green hills. After a swim in the pool, breakfast was superb: locally grown items in abundant variety. It felt like coming home from a day roaming the countryside, all conveniently w/in a few hours drive: wineries, a cheese "farm," Montepulciano and more. Superb personalized attention and comfortable tasteful rooms. Such great memories...

We had a good stay at Locanda in Tuscany. The location is an ideal base to explore the surrounding towns of Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano and others. We enjoyed the food and service in the restaurant. We also got a great recommendation from Sara the host to visit the to the thermal springs nearby.

rustic charm away from hustle and bustle

Now the hotel is quite literally in the middle of nowhere - 25-30min drive from nearby towns like Pienza, Montalcino etc. However it's a great choice if you'd like to experience the typical Tuscan countryside. The room style is rustic charm, the interior is simple but rooms are all very well-maintained. There was a big temperature drop when we were there, so I especially appreciated the warm water in the shower, perfect after a day of exploring Tuscany. The heater/AC worked perfectly as well. Our room also came with an outside terrace, so it was nice to chill outside during the day and enjoy the sun. The hotel is small, only a few rooms, so public facility is limited. Breakfast is served in the restaurant (also small), but the food is very fresh and tasty. My only critique would be that because the hotel is small, the dinner options in the restaurant was quite limited, only a few a la carte pasta/meat options. But to dine outside would mean driving 30min to a nearby town, so keep that in mind if you do not like driving at night, especially because there are no road lights on the highways so it would be completely dark.

Exceptional location and team. Marco and Natasha were super attentive to all of our requests and helped make our stay magical. Would definitely recommend if you want to immerse yourself in the heart of Val d’orcia
