Villa Luz

My wife and I recently returned from 17 glorious days at La Villa Luz. This is a charming, unique adult only, intimate Balanese palapa style boutique hotel with only seven rooms of varying sizes and views, a five minute walk to La Ropa Beach, onc of the best beaches in Zihuatanejo. The hotel has a swimming pool surrounded by umbrellas and comfortable lounge chairs, and beautiful landscaping. It also has a coffee shop which offers a variety of delicious breakfasts, light lunches and patisserie with fresh in house daily baked offerings. What makes this hotel so special is the manager Ania who, with her amazing staff, is dedicated to providing welcoming top notch service to residents. House keeping service is first class. The beds are very comfortable and superb Mexican skin care products are provided in the bathroom and shower. The surrounding gardens, pool and pool deck are well maintained and continuously serviced through the day. A few points to note however about this unique property. La Villa Luz is not for the mobility challenged. There is no elevator and there are stairs between the various levels. This was not an issue as we are very mobile and fit, and it did not appear to present a challenge for the other guests. High speed internet access seemed limited to the reception area and the pool area. This was not a concern for me as the internet in the reception area was excellent and I managed to conduct two zoom business conference calls during my stay. The hotel’s coffee shop shuts down at 4 p.m. This does not present a problem as there is a very wide selection of modest priced and some higher end restaurants within a five to fifteen minute walking distance of the hotel. This is also a much wider selection of restaurants in downtown Zihuatanejo which is an 80 peso ten minute ride from the property. The taxi rank is located immediately outside the hotel and cabs are available throughout the day and night. If you are seeking a discrete, tranquil vacation close to La Ropa Beach, La Villa Luz is the property for you.

This is a pretty and small hotel, kind of airbnb, few rooms, coffe shop & breakfast, no restaurant, no tv, small rooms, and tide bathrooms, very unconfortable stairs, not suitable for elderly, nor wheelchair. One block away from the beach. Prices may be higher than better hotels in the area.

This hotel is wonderful. It's small, intimate, immaculately clean and beautifully designed. Every detail was considered...even the extra toilet paper in a hollowed out coconut. It's like a high-end tree house. It all added together, along with the wonderful, friendly staff, to be the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. The beautiful beach with lots of food options is a nearby walk. Area felt completely safe. I would go back in a heartbeat.

An absolute nightmare. We booked on a 3rd party site and the hotel will not honor the reservation. It was their listing on the site. They are are now impossible to work with regarding the refund for their cancellation.

La Villa Luz. What can i say? Well this was my 5th time staying here and i can’t wait to go back! Ania and Fernanda and their staff of( Isa, Viviana, Antonino, Daniel and ASU) are all incredibly helpful . They make staying here pure joy. The moment you walk in through their front door you can feel tranquility take you over.The “chill” vibe is awesome! You know then that choosing the Luz was the best decision you made to start your trip. It really is a 2 minute walk down to Playa la Ropa. I think la Ropa is one of the best beaches on Mexico’s Pacific Coast. The water is warm and some of the best seafood can be eaten here. The hotel has just added a cafe and a covered terrace bar which were beautifully constructed . You can kick back poolside in the umbrella covered lounges and enjoy something to eat or drink.The rooms are luxurious and relaxing. Ania and Fernanda can help you with any adventure, restaurant suggestion, or things to see or do around Zihua. You won’t be disappointed to say that you stayed at the La Villa Luz!!
