About the Hotel
We are an iconic designer 5 STAR boutique hotel in the Adelaide Hills famous for our luxury escapes, three hat fine dining restaurant, indulgent day spa experiences, conference retreats and breathtakingly beautiful weddings. Mount Lofty House was built in 1852 by prominent statesman Arthur Hardy as his summer house. Arthur Hardy is reminiscent of a South Australian Jay Gatsby; indeed his wife Martha described their lifestyle as ‘a kind of feudal splendour’. Their beautiful manor soon became the state’s premier address for lavish and infamous parties for Adelaide’s elite of the day. From such lofty beginnings the manor was passed through a number of South Australian families, including a period as commune in the 1970s. In the disastrous 1983 fires of Ash Wednesday Mount Lofty House was burnt to the ground before rising from the ashes like a phoenix to truly become one of South Australia’s great icons.

Amazing stay, as always :)
Breathtaking venue and hotel. The staff are at the hotel, spa and the history tour with Chris were incredible, friendly and attentive. They really take pride in making each guests experience wonderful. We look forward to coming here every year as it’s always a special experience each time.

Our recent stay.
An excellent stay at Mount Lofty it doesn't disappoint. A warm welcome with a glass of bubbles and we loved Room 8 right by the garden pool and perfect for the hot weather. Nothing was too much trouble from Christopher and the team. Thank you, we will be back.

SA Road Trip
First time to South Australia and we did it as a road trip. We spent two nights in the Adelaide Hills at Mount Lofty House and absolutely loved it. The staff were brilliant, genuinely funny and so welcoming. Breakfast was served in a beautiful setting overlooking spectacular views, and afternoon cocktails in the garden were a highlight. We really enjoyed the history tour of the house as well. The choc chip cookies were a definite favourite 🤣 and it was such a beautiful touch to receive the book on departure. A truly memorable stay.

Beautiful views and amazing service! Really wish we stayed longer. Amazing service overall, food was great and the staff would always greet you with a smile and be at your service. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, everything went well - really recommend Mount Lofty House!

Amazing experience and incredible staff to complete the perfect stay!
My husband and I received top class service from all of the staff at Mount Lofty House during our stay. We chose the hotel to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in style. The view from our room was incredible which looked over the beautiful Piccadilly Valley. Everything was perfect. Thank you so much to all the staff that helped us create a wonderful memory to cherish forever. 💛
