The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra

We stayed for 2 nights in September. The experience was outstanding . It is a beautiful hotel. The warm welcome and service we received from the hotel staff was exceptional. They are very attentive. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone visiting Agra and the Taj Mahal. The hotel arranged for Kishore Gupta to guide for us for our sunrise visit to the Taj. He whisked us through the entry quickly and took us to beautiful photo spots before the queues arriived. He is well travelled but local to Agra and has extensive knowledge of the monument, the grounds and the history behind it all. We enjoyed his company and learning things that would been missed if we went by ourselves.

Had a great experience with our families at the Oberoi. The environs, service, breakfast and rooms were exceptional. I want to give a particular shout out to our guide Sandeep, who is available through the Oberoi. His tours of the Taj and the fort were amazing. He is a historian but has the gift of a great storyteller.

Once again a problem with understanding an arrangement made in the English language. My Daughter as a present from my 4 children for our 54th Wedding Anniversary told the hotel that she will be paying for the accomodation. OK they said . On checkout we were presented with the bill. We told the that my Daughter had arranged with them to pay our accommodation. No we told that they were not allowed to keep credit card details on file. Ok i understand that. But why did you not tell my Daughter that she could not arrange to pay the accommodation remotely. So after much discussion I paid. Once again impacting my holiday funds ( See my review of the Taj Mahal Delhi). Later I received an email from the hotel from mr Satvik Kapoor. i quote . " we immediately took steps to assist in resolving the matter and have reached out regarding an alternate payment option." Hello we have already paid!!! Anyone home!!!

We had an excellent stay at The Oberoi Amarvilas in Agra and could not have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive and truly exceptional. The restaurant was excellent, with delicious food and impeccable service. The housekeeping was outstanding, and our beautiful room was comfortable, elegant and wonderfully appointed. Of course, the highlight was the spectacular view of the Taj Mahal from the hotel and our room — absolutely unforgettable. We particularly appreciated the complimentary high tea, which was a lovely and thoughtful touch. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious, making it a very special part of our stay. The hotel also arranged an excellent guide for our three days of sightseeing. He was knowledgeable, friendly and made exploring Agra and the surrounding sights both enjoyable and effortless. Overall, the Oberoi Amarvilas exceeded our expectations. The combination of beautiful surroundings, superb hospitality, wonderful food and that incredible Taj Mahal view made our stay truly memorable. We would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Agra.
