5 star prices and 3 star service - been coming here for 25 years and this is the last time

5 star prices but 3 star service. Been coming here for 25 years and this is the last time. The hotel itself it lovely and picturesque but cannot cater for the number of guests and management seem to hire local teenagers with very little training or understanding of service. Issues experienced on a three day stay include inability to make any restaurant bookings as it’s too full (suggested room service !), waiting almost an hour for bar service having to ask several times where the drinks were, issues with room including toilet not flushing, making booking for cocktail making for 6 to be told only 4 were booked, kids club not being staffed when we were explicitly told it’s open so we could have an drink in the bar, waiting staff dropping knives on us while cleaning a table twice, wrong food being delivered not as ordered, table not ready for an hour after booking, grumpy concierge complaining about us parking at front because they were too busy to take our bags, waiting for over two hours for bags to be delivered to room and one bag being lost although found later that evening, we booked 4 rooms of a higher standard and two allocated were disabled access rooms in itself not a big issue but this list just goes on and on. The people that work here are nice but management needs to seriously look at recruiting more staff and training them properly given the prices they charge as they are competing against some exceptional hotels with superb service and as much as I love Cameron house this unfortunately just no longer justifies the premium price tag.

Unimpressed, sadly not what it used to be

Used to enjoy stopping in for a drink and enjoying the view - last few times the service has let it down. Ordered 5 luxury hot chocolates today, 2 came without any marshmallows or cream as they ran out but were charged at the same ‘luxury’ price as the rest. Asked if we could have the little fire on at the table and the waiter said I’ll check then never gave us an answer. Better to stop in at duck bay next door for a loch view and better service.

Poor service, poor communication, poor hotel!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

There aren’t enough words to fully describe how disappointing our stay was, but I’ll try. 1. The Tavern (first night): After waiting over an hour and a half for our meal, we were informed mid-service that the kitchen had run out of chicken. Instead of addressing this properly, they attempted to serve three of us meals without the chicken, seemingly hoping we wouldn’t notice. Completely unacceptable. 2. La Vista: We had to ask four times for our drinks while staff stood around chatting amongst themselves. To make matters worse, I was given an odd look simply for asking for a spoon with my soup. The lack of attentiveness and basic service was astonishing. 3. Transport / Car service: The final and most frustrating experience — after standing around for over an hour waiting for one of our cars, we were then told the keys had been lost. The issue was eventually resolved by reviewing security footage from the previous day to find out what was done with them, but this process took four hours, during which there was no practical solution or meaningful communication offered. While there are parts of the hotel that look nice, this is by no means a 5-star experience, closer to 3. Breakfast was mediocre and clearly designed for mass service rather than quality or comfort, think Premier Inn, but without the value for money, which sums up the whole place to be honest.

Avoid , injury caused through fault of hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

One night stay early December as family of four. Unfortunately my 4year old tripped over a carpet bar in the room which caused her to fall and sustain an injury to her foot. First aid kit was provided as requested and management have apologised and advised they will replace the at fault bar. We asked for a room refund due to the injury sustained due to dangerous carpet bar but they refused , which was extremely disappointing given the cost of staying in this hotel which claims to be 5star and family friendly. Ultimately the room was unsafe and my child was hurt due to their carelessness. We were offered to return to use the leisure facilities free of charge as we couldn’t make use of these the next day due to my daughter’s injury. Otherwise the room was spacious, breakfast was good and Christmas decorations were nice. Would not advise anyone to visit and am extremely disappointed with the lack of consideration shown by the management.

A wonderful festive experience. Thankyou

We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at Cameron House. This is the first time we have been away for Christmas and it was a spectacular experience. Beautiful setting on the shore of the loch with views over hills in the distance. We took our little dog and she was welcomed by everyone. Our room was in a high turret, with a balcony overlooking the loch. We had room 230, a suit with a sofa, massive bed, and free standing bath in the room. We had breakfast on Christmas morning, outside on the balcony, wrapped in jumpers and sipping champagne. It was fantastic. From our balcony we watched Santa arriving by boat and heard the children shouting for him on the loch shore. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had our Christmas lunch in the La Vista restaurant at the marina, starting with champagne and canapés and a three course lunch that was delicious. Our dog was welcomed. The hotel is beautiful and like a Christmas grotto, full of trees and wreaths it made one feel christmassy the minute you walked through the doors. More than anything however was the welcome and kindness from all staff without exception. All staff who had given up their Christmas with their families to make our stay special, and they did. So thank you Cameron House!
