Ok stay, beautiful lush grounds, decent food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I have worked in five star hotels and I know what it means to have and provide five star service. Unfortunately, while Vila Vita Parc tries to be there, they missed the mark. Here are the pros: If you want a beautifully landscaped lush property with decent food and beautiful pools, I'd recommend a few nights here. The spa was incredible (we both had massages) and the food at some of the restaurants was good. Some incredible and lovely people who work here - very kind and ready to serve. Cons - We stayed in one of the "apartments" because there were four of us and we needed extra space. Yes we knew it wasn't right on the property and that was ok. However, the unit was very dated and we had several drainage issues with the shower and sink. Literally our entire bathroom floor was soaking wet after showering. I sent whats app messages a few times, and while a maintenance person did come out to "fix" it, it was not resolved and I got nothing from management to apologize. You would think they could have offered up a free something (the place is INSANELY expensive) or something nice in the room. It's about going the extra mile if you are trying to be a five star resort to make sure the guest is heard. Also, the golf cart situation. We tried twice to get a golf cart to take us somewhere else on the resort because after hiking 8 miles per day while in Lisbon, we were wanting to relax and not walk up hills anymore. After waiting 20 minutes both times, we said forget it and went on our own way. The food. We went to Adega, Mizu, Giardino, the Cafe Bica and the Whale Pool Lounge. The service was excellent at the restaurants, however the food was "mid" as the teenagers would say. So incredibly expensive for the food quality in our opinion. The Tiramisu at Giardino WAS incredible. The sushi at Mizu was very delicious also. Our best meal while we were in the Algarve was at the Indian Restaurant around the corner - New Dehli Indian.

Very expensive hotel that ignores theft

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

This was the third time we’ve been and the kids had a great time, we pre-booked things so weren’t as disappointed as last year when we couldn’t get a cabana or the restaurants we wanted. So when you book the hotel, book cabanas and evening meals for each night, or you may not get what you want. The Mizu restaurant was by far the best and for the 9 nights, we went four times. The spa was great and I had a facial and body treatment. We tried pickleball with the kids for the first time which was fun. Bit surprising that you have to pay to rent the rackets though, at such an expensive hotel. Everything was very expensive, EURO11K for room and then a bill at end covering food/ everything else of EURO10K for 9 nights. Last year the service by the adult pool was bad/ very slow, this was improved. Breakfasts are very good. The main reason I’m giving two stars is that we had our AirPods stolen from our room, and also one of our bank cards cloned. Neither the AirPods or the bank card ever left our room. I raised this with the hotel the day before we left, to make them aware, and the general manager spent 30 minutes telling me how great his housekeeping staff are and it wasn't them. I wasn't accusing anyone, I just thought prudent for the hotel to know that theft was happening. However, there was not even an ‘I’m sorry this has happened to you, and sorry you now have to go through the pain of cancelling the card/ setting up new cards’. Just a flat denial that it was housekeeping. The find my app on our phone showed the airpods to be near Lisbon, and the bank fraud was for an Amazon Spain account and numerous Spanish/ Portugese shops. We had another issue earlier in the week, when another family "squatted" in pre-booked cabana. The pool staff were very apologetic and we received a free lunch when we couldn't use the cabana. However when something material was stolen, nothing beyond ‘it can’t have been our staff’ was said. And as we were returning guests, then I’m surprised that more ‘loyalty’ wasn’t shown to us. If it wasn’t for this, then I would have given 4 star review, not 5 as everything at the resort costs extra and I don’t think it was worth EURO21,000 for 9 nights (that’s even without flights). So if you are going, be careful with your things. The room safe also didn’t work for the first three days, so whoever took them could have made off with a lot more if they paid attention. Also, there are so many mosquitoes this year, all around the pools/ grounds/ restaurants/ bars, and hungry during the day and night. So take some insect repellent. Overall, not sure we will be going back again - the value is poor and the happy memories have been tarnished.

A five star stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We had a wonderful week at Vila Vita Parc in June. The hotel is beautiful, with an extensive range of restaurants, lovely swimming pools and set on a cliff top above the gorgeous Algarve coastline. My husband and I were there with our two teenage boys, and we all agreed that it was a five star experience. The boys especially loved the breakfast, which was second to none - so much choice! The tennis and padel courts were a bonus as were the onsite gift shops. The staff at the poolside were fantastic and the sun loungers were super comfortable. A particular word of thanks to Joana Belo who I had the pleasure of meeting while there. We will definitely be back!
