Hotel Quinta Do Lago

We loved staying at this hotel. The service levels were exceptional and all the team were so friendly. Bedroom had ample space and great cupboard space. Pool area was ample with comfortable loungers and a team who couldn’t do more to help. Plenty of soft, quality towels too. Tennis courts for those that want. Looking out over the nature reserve (which has awesome walks) and the most spectacular and unspoiled beach in Europe. Food at the hotel was first class. Near to shops, restaurants and golf courses. The hotel is wonderfully maintained and has everything you could want, but it is understated rather than opulent. Its appeal lies in its superb setting, excellent facilities, first-class food and, above all, the exceptionally warm and friendly service.

This was our second visit to this hotel and we were not disappointed. Our spacious room was on the same floor as reception, level 3, overlooking the gardens and sea. The balcony was large enough to be able to move chairs into the shade when required. Beds are comfortable with a top sheet as well as a duvet - ideal if you just want a light covering in the summer. There were a few minor frustrations with housekeeping, e.g. cups were not always replaced, but nothing that could not be resolved. A hand held hairdryer with nozzle is available if you don't like the one in the bathroom. We were welcomed on our first night to the weekly cocktail party which is a great opportunity to meet staff and discover more about the hotel - some staff had been there since its opening nearly 40 years ago which to my mind says a lot. It's nice to have the choice of sitting outside or inside at meal times. There is a wide selection for breakfast - the fresh cooked omlettes are delicious - and the dinner menu is extensive with an additional changing daily menu. Light lunches are available at the cafe near the pool. The staff are welcoming and as we were celebrating my husband's birthday he was presented with a birthday card and chocolate cake for us all to share after our evening meal. The beach is within walking distance with the private section belonging to the hotel is over the bridge and on the left where towels and bottled water are provided. We enjoyed our time at the outdoor pool with adequate sunbeds available but never got round to using the indoor pool. The gym is small but adequate. All in all a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

Wonderful to be back. Fabulous staff, great food and excellent location and facilities. The perfect place for access to the beach, golf and restaurants. Only thing I would change is to update or upgrade some of the gym equipment.
