Seemingly molded into the side of a jagged cliffside is the Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi – part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Teetering high above the Amalfi Coast, this former 13th-century monastery is now a glorious hotel situated along the Italian seaboard. Impeccably restored to its original splendor, yet not without expected conveniences, the Grand Hotel features just 53 tasteful rooms and suites with a white motif and latte accents. French doors push open revealing Juliet-style balconies encased with ornate iron balustrades and million-dollar seascape views. The hotel's crisp alabaster color scheme is infused with brilliant hues courtesy of blooming bougainvillea, leafy emerald plants and azure reflections from the sea.

A truly magnificent hotel. Our 3rd time back but our first under the Anantara brand and what a difference. From the moment you arrive the hotel staff cannot do enough for you. We had a beautiful room with a balcony over looking the Amalfi port, a view that you can never tire of. The room was fully equipped with luxury Acqua di Parma toiletries, tea/coffee, a clothes steamer, hair dryer. The hotel has such interesting history and to wander around the monastery is breathtaking. There are 2 restaurants serving exquisite cuisine, La Locanda having an outdoor kitchen with BBQ grill and pizza oven and Dei Cappuccini is a fine dining restaurant with an outstanding chef. Breakfast is included and you won't go hungry, the choices are phenominal. The infinity pool at the end of a stunning walkway under beautiful flowers and lemon trees is gorgeous. Very comfortable sun chairs, plenty of soft towels & there is even suncream available if you forget your own. The pool staff are very attentive with complimentary water frequently being served and little treats like lemon sorbet is offered too. A peaceful area to relax. The Spa is nice and recently refurbished with a variety of treatments on offer. I also liked it that the General Manager Estelle was frequently seen engaging with all her staff, who seemed very happy, an indicator her managerial skills are working. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, its location is beautiful, the food is excellent, the staff are incredible too. There is a shuttle service to Amalfi or steep steps which could be tricky if your are a bit unsteady on your feet. And lastly if your are looking for a fun experience whilst you are there book the Heaven Gardens Cooking Class ..... it's a must.

The hotel was just as wonderful as it was 10years ago. It was so good to be back. The staff, as always were exceptional, although the gentleman who took our order for dinner seemed a bit pushy and we felt rushed to make a decision. I also thought he told me the lobster dish came with spaghetti, which it didn’t. It came with thick tube pasta which wasn’t enjoyable at all. For the price of the dish, I was left very disappointed that I couldn’t eat it all. Apart from that, the rest of our stay and the staff were fantastic, especially the young lady, on guest services desk, I think her name was Simonetta. (Apologies if I got this wrong!) We were especially touched by their heartfelt gift of a soap dish and soap bar as a present to us for our anniversary. It is a beautiful hotel in a spectacular location. Cannot wait to visit again one day.

The service was fantastic! The concierge team was incredibly helpful, friendly, and professional. They helped arrange transfers, meals, and excursions via email before our stay, and continued to be very accommodating during our stay. The breakfast waitstaff was wonderful - very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was delicious, with a mix of buffet and cooked to order items. We enjoyed it daily on the terrace. The staff made my family feel very welcome. The staff at both restaurants were also wonderful. The sommelier was excellent. The food at Dei Cappochini was among the best we had. The reception staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very efficient. The hotel grounds are impecable. The infinity pool is astounding. The local area is exciting and beautiful. Easy to get into town. Couldn’t recommend more!

This is going to be a long one but deservedly so. You know that moment towards the end of your vacation where you start to have the thought ‘As I get back to reality I need to find a way to hold onto THIS FEELING right here. The way I’m feeling right now. I don’t want to forget THIS.’? We all know that moment. We all say it to ourselves. The place that exemplifies that feeling in a hotel experience better than any other I have ever experienced is the Anatara Convento Hotel in Amalfi. Let me start by saying that we were coming for a milestone birthday and I wanted everything to be perfect. So I had several requests and a million questions and emails. I always got helpful information back quickly from Martina who was about as accommodating as someone can be. Whether it was exploring room options or excursions or setting up drivers for early morning connections, she literally took care of everything. This included securing us Vespas so we could go to Ravello and then taking care of the pick up since we had an early check out. Thank you Martina you’re a life saver. When we arrived at the hotel I felt like we were treated like Royalty. The energy that the whole staff gave off as if they had been excitedly waiting for us to arrive and the greeted us so warmly. Serena greeted us as we arrived and showed us around the property and got us checked in and was just lovely. The views from the hotel are absolutely spectacular looking down over Amalfi harbor. And at night with the town lights lit up it feels like you’re looking into the stars. Just beautiful. We woke up the next morning for breakfast (which was delicious and healthy) and there was a harp playing as we looked down over the harbor. A HARP!!!!! I mean I realize we’re clearly in heaven now. Over the next few days we had drinks and snacks by the pool (Daniella was lovely) and a dinner at the casual dining spot (I cannot recall the manager’s name but he was terrific as was the staff and singers) as well as the terrace area for drinks and light snacks. Huge compliments to Luigi and Angelo for their impeccable service. Luigi I don’t know how you made a hamburger and spaghetti feel like 5-star dining with your attention to detail and making us feel SO welcome but you did just that. Also we had a few adjustments to our plans along the way and everyday the staff would ask ‘What are your plans for the day? How can we help you? Are you all set with how you are getting there? And coming back? Do you need any suggestions?….etc..etc. Flavia thank you for suggesting a better solution for our transportation to our final dinner and in doing so made sure that our safety was a priority (unlike me who had us coming home on Vespas at night). Whomever wrote the service training manual/hiring policy for this staff needs a raise and promotion become have quite literally never received service like this in my life. Not at the Four Seasons and not at Ritz Carlton. Thank you Anatara Convento in Amalfi for helping me deliver an incredible birthday experience for my partner! You are my new favorite hotel and I cannot wait to return!
