This was my first fly fishing trip. Everyone was extremely helpful and hospitable. Caught fish everyday despite my lack of ability to cast.

What a great trip! Top notch service, staff and accommodations. The friendliest staff. The fishing and weather was fantastic. I could not overstate our experience. My wife and daughter don’t really fish and they loved it too! Can’t wait to come back!

I chose El Pescador based on a strong recommendation and its reputation as a world-class fishery. I brought my 14-year-old son for his first saltwater fly fishing trip, hoping for great fishing and a memorable father-son experience. The lodge itself exceeded expectations. Communication beforehand was excellent (including helpful coordination from Yellow Dog Flyfishing), transfers were seamless, and the staff were consistently warm and attentive despite a full resort. The rooms were clean, the food was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was very family-friendly. I would absolutely return based on the lodge and hospitality alone. The fishing experience, however, was inconsistent. Our first day was fantastic, our guide was patient, engaged, and made it a great experience for my son, even in less-than-ideal conditions. Unfortunately, the following days, with a different guide, did not match that level of effort. We had a delayed start one morning (missing prime fishing time), limited movement between locations, and a general lack of adaptability compared to what we later learned other anglers experienced. While we did well with bonefish, we had very limited opportunities at tarpon and permit, despite favorable conditions and reports of success from others. The biggest takeaway: your experience here will depend heavily on your guide. At the end-of-week awards, it was tough to hear how many opportunities others had for all three species when we felt we didn’t get the same chances. That said, I was genuinely happy to see my son succeed with bonefish and a nice barracuda, he had a great time overall. Final thoughts: Outstanding lodge, staff, food, and family experience Incredible fishery with real Grand Slam potential Fishing experience can vary significantly depending on guide Recommendation: Great for families and first-time anglers. If you’re an experienced angler or targeting a Grand Slam, I would strongly recommend requesting a specific guide.

El Pescador is a fabulous location if you want to catch fish, eat great food, and bond with fellow anglers. The staff is amazing and very helpful. The fishing is great. The weather couldn’t be beat. Looking forward to coming back for our next adventure.

Incredible experience all around. I’m new to fly fishing and I still managed to land many bone fish and a Tarpon. My guide put out me on several permit but it just didn’t happen for me. I traveled with my wife and our 2 eleven year old grandsons. The family atmosphere is really something special and is difficult to put into words. You really have to experience this place. Ask for Michael or Mario as fishing guides - you won’t be disappointed. These gents were patient, experienced and fun to spend 8 hours on the water with.

El Pescador has carved out a real niche for itself. Its combination of comfortable and gracious living in a totally relaxed, outdoor setting is unique and has a charm all its own. When asked by Steve for our suggestions about how to make it better, we were hard pressed to come up with anything substantive.
I don't know whether you embrace all of your guests as you did our little family, but we felt as though we were being welcomed into a wonderfully warm, interesting, and entertaining family that we were only too happy to be adopted by.
