Guest Beware

My wife and I stayed at the Omni, Amelia Island over the first weekend in January of 2026. We booked an ocean front room and informed the hotel during the reservation process we were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. We arrived just before 4 pm check-in time and were impressed with the ease of check-in for us. You get your resort pass from the gate sentry and follow the signs to the main hotel. You have two choices for parking; valet at $40 a night. or self-parking which is a good 100 to 500 yards depending on where your room is. IMPORTANT NOTE: there is NO handicap parking available close to the hotel. It's either valet or a hike (uphill to the hotel) so be forewarned. Our room was in the Southern most wing and was as expected for this price point. There is no microwave in the rooms but there is a steam device for your clothes. Our issue began within 5 minutes of getting to the room. The hotel is undergoing a large room updating project and there were two large boom buckets outside our room and the beeping didn't stop until almost dark. We were informed prior to our stay the Spa would be closed due to constructions but no mention was made that the rooms would be impacted by construction. We would not have stayed at a hotel under construction to celebrate our anniversary. I tried to get a room change but there was only one person covering the desk and the line of people to get checked in was out the lobby into the bar. After a half hour I gave up and as military couples do we made the best of it. For the weekend the boom buckets were parked outside our balcony. We were highly disappointed that a hotel who knew we were celebrating a major milestone chose to put us in a room they knew was impacted by the construction.

Excellent NYE trip to Amelia Island

A group of us (4 couples) stayed at the Omni on Amelia Island over New Years Eve. We had a great time!! We had dinner at Bob's Steakhouse on our first night, as we had a birthday that night for someone in our group. We had a great time and the food was fabulous. The had lunch at Surfcaster on NYE and drinks at the outside bar, both of which were also fabulous. The coffee shop and Seaglass bar, right off the lobby area, were wonderful and we got beverages from both each day we were at the Omni. We will definitely go back for another visit!

In need of a refresh!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The Omni is feeling tired. While the people there are VERY friendly, exuding southern hospitality, the rooms are in desperate need of an update and refresh. We came into a room with the sheets not fully tucked in, furniture that was worn and stained and a bathroom floor that was not cleaned under the vanity. The service at the bar was so slow we left without being served. The food at the restaurants was very good though. The golf course was just renovated and really an excellent course. The spa is under renovation (due to open in 2 weeks), and they are making the best of it in a hotel suite. The menu of services is currently limited, but the therapists were very good.

Very good experience. Nice resort on the beach with plenty of restaurants to enjoy. Omni has a full complex of activities available for purchase. We got upgraded which was great!

Nice resort tested at its peak

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

You can really test a resort when you check in during the holiday season, when it is at max capacity. That is what we did, staying for one night on our way further south. The property is beautiful and expansive. The pools are great and the beach is marvelous. As crazy busy as it was, you have to hand it to the valet and bell staff. They were on it, hustling, and allayed any concerns I had about luggage delivery delays, etc. We had no delays and their efforts during possibly their busiest days of the year was impressive. The front desk and room availability was a bit of a challenge and did not fare as well. The room we booked was unfortunately not ready at 6 pm when we arrived. I was offered and selected an alternative room that was ready and available. It was a category or two less than what I booked and paid for but was still a double that was oceanfront. The room was fine but somewhat removed from the main portion of the hotel and the amenities. When I inquired about the room I book and paid for, versus what I received, I initially endured some indignance and blame shifting which was unfortunate. But the exchange was probably the result of a very long day for the front desk staff and when I escalated my complaint to management, I received prompt and fair offerings of resolution. The smaller golf course is really nice and fun. If we had more time, we would have rented bikes and spent more time at the beach. It is a very nice resort at a third of the price of the neighboring Ritz. Long wait times at the Sports Restaurant were unfortunate but not unexpected due to the peak season. Stay away from Door Dash and settle into the lounge right near the check in for snacks and food if you are in a jam.
