Once a nondescript public library building, overlooking the Prinsengracht (Prince’s Canal), Andaz Amsterdam has been transformed into a fantastical dream-world by Dutch architect and renowned designer Marcel Wanders. Traditional Dutch art and culture meshes with the present at every turn. Sit in the oversized tulip chairs, read the history of Amsterdam on the wallpaper, stroll through the romantic secretive garden, and take pictures in our Instagram-worthy Observatorium - where the history of Dutch seafaring is retold through light-fixture constellations and Old World maps.

Excellent stay, excellent area. You can never go wrong with the Andaz brand. Sleek looking hotels with great food. Definitely looking at stay here next time around.

Perfect location for our two night stay. We had never been to Amsterdam before, and were using it as a gateway for return to USA. The ambiance of the hotel was amazing - so much so that this was the first hotel we ever stayed in where my wife actually took photos of each wall in the toilet closet! There really is no place to change in private - the shower is in an enclosed closet as is the toilet. But this trip was for our 50th - so no issue for us. If you are shy, there is plenty of room in the toilet room. Minutes from Ann Frank house which was a focus for us to see. Easy to get a canal cruise, go shopping in funky shops, eat on canal side cafes.

This hotel is beautiful! However, the lack of customer service instantly makes you want to check out. The beauty quickly faded as we moved through the stay. Anything asked of staff was forgotten and/or completed at the pace of a snail. I've never been to a hotel where the staff was so nonchalant about everything. It was pretty frustrating, and I was not the only one experiencing that. Other guests also spoke about how long items were taking or not coming at all. In the restaurant, the staff would forget about you and not remember to come back for orders until you waved them down. We spent the entire stay "thinking" for the staff. I expected the staff to know my needs or have suggestions, and they never did. Honestly, this was my after-cruise hotel, and if I knew what I know now, I would have stayed at my pre-cruise hotel, Tivoli. The customer service was an A+ at Tivoli and was about a D- at Andaz Amsterdam. Please do better.

It was simply the best Hyatt stay we’ve experienced in 30 yrs of being Hyatt customers. What a fun hotel, everything was uplifting and beautiful, the best of the best features, comfort everywhere (bed and pillow included!) - a true vacation! I don’t think paying more in a luxury hotel nearby would’ve really been worth it. We enjoyed the smaller size hotel, down to earth treatment, and reasonable price. We are very happy we chose this hotel for our vacation.
