Once a nondescript public library building, overlooking the Prinsengracht (Prince’s Canal), Andaz Amsterdam has been transformed into a fantastical dream-world by Dutch architect and renowned designer Marcel Wanders. Traditional Dutch art and culture meshes with the present at every turn. Sit in the oversized tulip chairs, read the history of Amsterdam on the wallpaper, stroll through the romantic secretive garden, and take pictures in our Instagram-worthy Observatorium - where the history of Dutch seafaring is retold through light-fixture constellations and Old World maps.

The Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is visually unforgettable. The bold, playful design makes it feel like staying inside an art installation, and my canal-view room offered some truly lovely moments—boats drifting past, cyclists weaving by, even a surprise wave from a passing tour boat. And for being in the heart of everything, it was wonderfully quiet. The room itself was full of quirky, intentional details, like Delftware wallpaper and unexpected furniture shapes. While fun, the layout wasn’t always intuitive. For example, brushing my teeth required a humorous amount of spatial negotiation thanks to a mirror that wasn’t actually placed behind the sink, and the crisp, minimalist style made small wear and tear stand out more than expected. The room seemed clean, but it's hard to trust gray tiles that felt sticky when I wore the hotel slippers. The biggest disappointment was the service, particularly at breakfast. I prepaid for the breakfast package, but most mornings began with a confusing conversation about whether it was paid for. Vegan options were limited, coffee wasn’t offered consistently, and there were no menus, making the experience confusing rather than relaxed. The lounge had similar lapses—long waits, forgotten orders, and inconsistent follow-through. Nothing was unkind—just disconnected. And for a hotel with such striking design and an excellent, walkable location, the experience never quite matched the promise. There were memorable moments, and the hotel has great potential. But unless service and breakfast improve, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Only reason we’re giving this was two stars is because of the exceptional food and coverage program. They did a great job but the hotel itself is NOT a five star hotel with room quality and level of service. Our bed sink in on the right side for the 6 nights we were there. I would consider this a three star hotel.

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht. Location was great; walking distance to many of the normal attractions, canal tours, etc. My Hyatt Discoverist status was acknowledged and (I think) helped me to get an early check-in, which was much appreciated after a long flight! Hotel and room was very clean. Bed was comfortable. I also enjoyed a wonderful breakfast buffet at the hotel. If my travels ever take me back to Amsterdam, I won't hesitate to stay there again.

We greatly enjoyed our stay. The staff was so welcoming and responsive. The hotel has a cool vibe and is centrally located, providing easy access to different areas and sights. Both restaurants served delicious, beautifully prepared food.

Loved the location, ambiance, and the experience that the andaz Amsterdam prinsengracht offers. We found Amsterdam to be a highly walkable city with plenty of things to do and see. I would definitely return And visit this city again.
