The College Hotel Amsterdam, Autograph Collection

There was no chest of drawers for our clothing! We then asked for 15 additional hangers, since we had to hang all our clothes, we were met with astonishment for our request. This was the time to inform us that the room was for handicap guests, that did not happen. Not sure how a person in a wheelchair can manage no drawers, only to need to reach 5 feet up to hang anything. We had no table to rest reading materials, or place a cup of coffee. No place in the bathroom for toiletries. Only one hook for each bath towel, no where for a hand towel or face cloth! No conveniences! No place to hang a robe. No workable mirror.

The College hotel is a unique luxury experience, feeling distinctly European in all the best ways. The location is superb, easy access to the wonderful city, the hotel itself is charming and welcoming. The front desk staff are eager students training in hospitality or professionals looking to teach their understudies. My room was a split level, bathroom, closet, and small couch and fridge on the first level and a narrow set of stairs leading to the bedroom on the upper floor. these stairs are narrow and thin, definitely not the same as US building and safety code. If I were an older guest or had mobility issues, this would not be a safe room. It was delightful and charming, but could be a surprise for others. Also, the only desk was a round table with a pillar, so getting any work done was a challenge. Ironic for a converted old college not to have a working desk in the room. Bathroom was modern and good water pressure, clean and well serviced. Room was clean and tidy and the fridge was nice to keep morning coffees. The nearest grocery is about a half mile walk, so just plan on walking a lot in one of the best cities in Europe.

Location was great for our visit. The atmosphere of the hotel was very quiet, secure and overall pleasurable. Our room was very comfortable including the bed and seat area of the suite. Overall value… ++. Cleanliness was spot on which is a very important factor.

My wife and I spent several nights here in the junior suite. We couldn’t be happier with the experience! The aesthetic of the hotel is super cool, with a very clean, relaxed atmosphere. It was cool to see how the old college was built into the design even in the rooms as well! And we felt we were in a great location right within the museum district. Easy to get to so many places nearby while feeling like we were away from the craziness of main town. If we get the chance to go back to Amsterdam we’d definitely stay here again! The staff were also nothing but kind and helpful :)

Younlee was the best - very caring and welcoming. She did her best to make sure we had everything we needed and she made us feel like valued guests. She recognized that we have stayed at the College hotel several times and treated us like loyal customers. The hotel is very cute with cool architecture and interior design. Great neighborhood outside of the touristy center but still close enough to walk everywhere.
