After many visits to Amsterdam and staying at a half dozen other hotels, my wife, my son and I finally had the opportunity to stay at Hotel de l'Europe. All we can say is WOW! This historic property is in the dead center of this amazing city on a corner lot. That results in the rooms getting lots of light, which we love. The views in every direction are quintessential Amsterdam. From the greeting by the doorman, the friendly check-in ( and room upgrade ) by Kelly, the welcome drink offered by Eric and the way they reviewed my itemized bill in detail upon checkout, we were truly impressed with this property. The staff perfectly threads the needle between friendliness and professionalism. They manage to offer both the old-world charm that the Dutch do so well along with every modern amenity one could desire. There were many highlights including our lunch at Flore, the hotel's Michelin 2 ** restaurant. As part of the experience, one of the courses is served in the restaurant kitchen by the chefs. A splurge for sure but worth it. Breakfast is nicely done with any hot or cold item one could want. The views from the Brasserie Marie, where breakfast is served are also very nice. Housekeeping was also spot on with our room being kept clean and airy for our entire visit. I do need to make a special mention of our lovely and gracious butler, Maria Frank. For us, she was class and hospitality personified. The first thing she did was to provide us with a tour of the hotel. When we mentioned that we liked a certain cookie from a certain shop, she took it upon herself to go to the shop and present us with a tin of cookies. When we requested ice for our champagne bucket, she also brough a chilled bottle of champagne and swapped it out for our warm bottle so that we could enjoy the wine immediately. One day, when our favorite deck was technically closed, she gave us access anyway so we could enjoy the sunshine with a glass of Chablis. When we brought a dutch friend to visit us, Maria made certain that he felt welcome. I can't say enough good things about Maria and for that matter all of the staff we encountered. Hotel de l'Europe is hospitality taken to the next level. My only complaint is that 4 days was not long enough. We will stay longer next time.

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. All staff were great and we saw many of the same people every day. Always professional and friendly. Housekeeping was a high point too. Lots of thoughtful little surprises every day. Breakfast was really nice and Freddy’s bar was a great little spot for drinks. Highly recommend.

Very old hotel in desperate need of renovation. Old carpets everywhere, in rooms and hallways, probably 100 year old carpets. Old, old furniture in the rooms. No lighting in the room or bathroom, can’t see anything. The hotel is in good location but everything else is not worth anything for what they’re charging. Would not go back or recommend it to anyone.

I have been a regular visitor to this hotel during my business trips. This was the first time I visited with my family and we tremendously enjoyed our stay during a beautiful weather in Amsterdam. It worked out very well at all levels from reservation up to the check out. Prior to our arrival, I was able to book all prime locations with the help of the concierge team who have been accessible via whatsapp. After having quick snacks at the lobby bar, which has great canal view, we went out to a canal cruise which is from a jetty very close to the hotel. Hotel is so conveniently located we were able to walk to the major hot spots including Van Gogh museum. Despite the very hot weather, air conditioning at the hotel was marvellous. The peak of our stay was the breakfast at the Marie Restaurant with spectacular canal view. While we tasted famous Dutch cheese at the open buffet, we also ordered eggs, french toast and waffles. This has been a very memorable stay and we wish we had more time to spend at the hotel. We’ll definitely come back again.

We came over to Amsterdam as a family of 3 to see my wife’s obsession…….. Harry Styles! We had two rooms one for us and one for our 21 year old son! Both rooms like the hotel as a whole were beautiful! The staff are an utter credit to the hotel! Nothing is too much for them and it’s all done with a big smile! The spa is also superb for a nice relaxing swim and steam / sauna. One of the very best hotels I’ve stayed in Europe and we will be back! Thanks again
