Room and service nowhere near the price
We stayed two nights in a Junior Suite, at roughly $1,500 a night. At that price you expect a room that feels special and service that handles the details effortlessly. We got neither. The suite felt dated: tired decor and old carpet. It was also poorly laid out for its size. There's no entry area or anywhere to hang coats except the closet, and the closet is so tight the luggage rack had to be wedged in at an angle. There was no sofa and no comfortable chair, only firm, upright chairs, so there was nowhere to relax. The toilet, shower and sink are all in a single room. None of this is what "Junior Suite" suggests, especially at this rate. The ice incident summed up the stay. On our last night I called down for a bucket of ice and asked if there was any charge. The staff member took a minute to check, then told me it would be €7.50. I asked whether there was an ice machine I could use myself, and he said he'd have to check. When I said never mind, he simply said okay, and that was it. It's not about €7.50. At a hotel that bills itself as the height of Amsterdam luxury, the answer should be "of course, we'll send some up." For this price, there are hotels in Amsterdam that get both the rooms and the small things right.

Fantastic luxury hotel in Amsterdam
Great location! Fantastic staff who are extremely friendly! Great service! Very neat and clean property. Rooms were spacious. They accommodated special dietary requirements. The restaurants had good food options. Overall value for the price paid for the room.
