Amsterdam is a city of such charm itâ€(TM)s hard to imagine a hotel that can surpass its allure. But the dramatic The Dylan Amsterdam, the creation of über-chic designer Anouska Hempel, sets the standard for hip hotels. It enjoys a beautiful location on the Keizersgracht Canal and it amazes with individually furnished themed rooms that include a fantasy in candy-colored stripes and a soothing Zen escape. Spending a quiet moment in the lovely garden is the perfect prelude for afternoon tea in the Long Gallery.

Amsterdam ! We really enjoyed our recent trip to this great city. We stayed at The Dylan for 3 nights. The pros: 1) It super well situated. I had walked by it a few years ago, so I knew that to be the case. 2) Very clean, beds are comfortable, the food is very good (and so is the wine list). 3) The concierges are knowledgeable. The cons: 1) Breakfast is served in a room overlooking the terrace, but it’s not possible to be on the terrace (only lunch and dinner). And the window in that dining room/bar don’t open, so it get’s stuffy (but remember, the food is very good). 2) The staff is generally very young (read inexperienced), so the level of service is not consistent, although they are always very polite. 3) The décor on the website and in the rooms (we had two of them) doesn’t really match. I felt, especially in mine, that there was a little photoshoping going on. Good to know: 1) They accept large group. We had a wedding that took over pretty much the whole hotel. 2) Also, the last night, they left a little patisserie in our rooms while doing the turndown. It was made with almond paste. My son is severely allergic, so EpiPen ++++. He should have checked (I did giving him hell for it), but with nuts allergies so prevalent, I’m not sure I would recommend that as your turndown treat at night. Lastly, the two museums were perfect ( the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh), the electric bike rental company (Black Bikes) offered great service and the self-guided ride to Volendam was our highlight.

Truly one of the best hotel stays I’ve had! The staff were so lovely and so helpful. My room was perfect and comfortable. I enjoyed every minute!

What's not to like? It's clean, lush and high end. The staff are very well presented and attentive without at all being in your face and all seem to be enjoying working there. The food is lovely, all requests are accommodated and the rooms themselves are tidy and cosy. Sure there are some steep stairs between the bathroom and bedroom but it's Amsterdam! Don't go there if you have weak knees!! I'll be back. The Dylan was my home away from home.

This was a beautiful little boutique hotel in a great location on a canal. Great staff, comfortable room, good dining options. Gym was fine although missing heavy weights for my husband. Excellent concierge service who were helpful in organizing airport transfers, tours, museum tickets, restaurant bookings. Definitely recommend and would return.

We stayed here five nights over three separate stays on a trip to Amsterdam, Paris, and Tanzania. Excellent hotel: Beautiful, quiet rooms; friendly and helpful staff; great restaurant; in an attractive part of town pretty close to many of the sights travelers will want to see. The staff really makes the place. Miss it already and hope to return.
