About the Hotel

On the edge of the 17th Century Prinsengracht, the famed Dutch canal system UNESCO honors on its World Heritage List, Hotel Seven one Seven began as the home of a wealthy sugar trader. The rear house became a sugar mill, and in 1810 the trader built a voorhuis, or front house, that now welcomes guests to its nine cozy suites named after artists, composers and literary figures – sink into the deep blue elegance of the Von Goethe suite or gaze out over the Prinsengracht from the lofty Picasso suite.

717 was blinking brilliant!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Absolutely brilliant!! The staff, can’t remember everyone’s name but Patrick was brilliant (he has watched a lot of English films), the lady who recommended restaurants, the chap who spoke to us about things to do in the lounge area was just brilliant. So welcoming, nothing a trouble and on hand to support you with your stay. Lovely turn down service of an evening. Breakfast enough to start your day. Great coffee. Thank you, if/when we come back to Amsterdam we will book 717!

Unprofessional or scam?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

I had booked at this hotel well in advance and got a reasonable fare. After a month as the prices elsewhere had gone up they emailed me asking me to accept a 50% price hike (300 euro per night instead of 200). They did not even give me time to reply and cancelled my reservation. I don't know whether they are scammers or simply unprofessional and disorgnized but for sure this is not a reliable hotel. Avoid.

5* service, best hotel I’ve ever stayed in! Loved every minute of it, the staff are amazing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

From start to finish our stay was amazing. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming, we were greeted with friendly smiles, welcome drinks.. Every single member of the team went out of their way to make us feel special The hotel was spotless, perfectly located for exploring Amsterdam. The staff gave us great local recommendations, which made our trip even more memorable. Breakfast each was so nice, with plenty choice and attention to detail. The little touches made all the difference the turn-down service each night, umbrellas by the door even the way the team held our luggage all day after checkout so we could make the most of our last day. The rooms were gorgeous stylish, comfortable, and incredibly clean As a group of six, this was the most enjoyable part of our break without a doubt the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. It’s one to remember! we will definitely be coming back soon - Thank you!!

They cancelled our reservation 2 days before and charged us anyway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

Horrible treatment by the Hotel. We made and confirmed reservation 4 months in advance (even via email), the hotel got the dates wrong, cancelled our ENTIRE 4 day reservation as rooms weren't available for one night, didn't call to see how else they could help us and charged us 2K anyway, which we now have to spend time fighting. The place looks pretty but we NEVER saw it.
