This is a very good hotel, though it caters to a specific taste. If you appreciate classic, old-world luxury—like the kind you'd see in historical royal palaces—this place will definitely appeal to you. The ambiance is rich with character and charm. Breakfast is excellent, though it’s served à la carte rather than buffet-style, which may be slightly less convenient for some guests. That said, the staff is exceptionally attentive and quick to respond to any requests, ensuring a pleasant experience. The menu also reflects the hotel's unique style. For example, the Club sandwich is not quite what you might expect, but it's still delicious in its own way. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, especially to those who enjoy a more traditional and refined atmosphere.

We booked a afternoon arrangement (i.e. high tea) at the Amstel hotel. Food: The food was was fine, nothing special). The tea was good. Overall the food and the tea together I would give a 3.5 out of 5 stars. The chef had prepared well balanced courses with matching tea. Good job here! Service: However it was the service which did not match the 5 stars hotel as the Amstel hotel is. For example, the personnel gave us a small glass of water during the afternoon tea. We thought this is part of the arrangement (to refresh in between the courses). When we paid the bill we noticed that the hotel asked 9 euros for a small glass of water for which we did not ask. Don't get me wrong, it's not about the 9 euros, it's about having a afternoon tea at a 5 stars hotel and the water is not included. One other thing that gave us a bad experience is that the personnel couldn't "find" our bill. The personnel mentioned "there's something wrong with the bill which we're investing". This can happen of course, but whe we finally got the bill, we did not get no apologies or whatsoever about the fact that we had to wait for the bill and the personnel could not tell us what the issue is. Finally, the personnel is either junior or does not have experience with serving in a 5 stars hotel. You can see this with almost everything they do and say. Personally I wont go to yhe Amstel hotel any soon. If I go to a 5 stars hotel, I expect to receive 5 stars service. Anything else that such places offer, in principle you can find at cheaper places as well. It's the service that should be unmatched. Unfortunately to say Amstel hote did not make this promise true.

Amsterdam has around 5-7 luxurious hotels, the Amstel Hotel by IHG is one of them. It is truly amazing. The only hotel that initially was built as the hotel. It was for doctors at the beginning. Opened in 1867. Beautiful lobby, highly trained and friendly staff. I am not sure if I spell correctly, Juliette from the front office was helpful. Rooms with the view to the river is the best option. Room itself is very cozy and stylish. Breakfast is delicious as well as lunch. Very convenient SPA. The hotel you want to come back!

Very nice in general. Staff super helpful and friendly, let us feel very welcome. Tea was delicious. Only small tip about food. Please do not use for snacks the cheepiest bread from supermarket. For the price of all service this really was big disappointment. Do not go cheap for something that should be nice and special experience.

We had an amazing stay at the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam. Our room was perfect for a wonderful family time. The breakfast with the beautiful view was exceptional. My mom was especially happy, and I felt the same. The staff was friendly and attentive, making our experience even better. We would definitely love to return! Phatarin Suankoggruad (Pi)
