Absolutely fantastic hotel to stay in Amsterdam. Our room overlooked the river which was a real treat. Lovely to wake up and open the window to see the river, boats, and birds. Our room had everything we needed and had a fantastic shower as well as a separate tub. We walked everywhere and nothing was very far. We thoroughly enjoyed drinks on the outside patio overlooking the river. Breakfast was fantastic and you ordered everything off a menu so it was very fresh. Our best surprise was how the concierge recommended and reserved 2 dinner reservations for us. The first was “typical” casual Dutch food. We loved it and would never have found it on our own. The second was a fancier Michelin tasting restaurant in a building from the 1400s (complete with sloping floors). We wore khakis and nice tops and didn’t feel out of place there. The service and food was amazing. Again, nothing we would have found on our own. Glad we followed his recommendations! We will definitely stay here again on return trips to Amsterdam!

This was my 5th visit to Amsterdam, twice I stayed in a nearby Hyatt hotel, and always walking by Amstel I dreamed about staying here. My IHG points finally made it possible. So glad! It's old and historic, but at the same time has every possible modern amenity. The spa experience is one of the best I had travelling in Europe. I was in the pool/fancy shower to start the day, and every evening to give my feet, legs rest after a busy day. The pool area and pool itself are very beautiful. They also have some fancy showers I never experienced before. Sitting by the window in my room , drinking tea and watching the city and canal was one of highlights of my time IN the room. I am really surprised hotel has some negative reviews ( I was very apprehensive coming, but never regret) . Front desk Zac and Camila were super friendly, very professional and very helpful - thank you!

Tauck recommended this hotel for us, and it is a place of great service, conviviality and welcome. We arrived early in the day from the US and were greeted immediately. We could not check in until 3pm (arrived at noon) but they willingly held our luggage and let us rest in a lounge. Room was lovely, very well appointed, great shower pressure, nice spa, and we lucked out with a canal view. Highly recommend.

Wonderful building and very tastefully decorated throughout. Room was comfortable although soundproofing not the best. Pool and spa are really lovely, well maintained with fantastic views of the Amstel. Service was at a very high standard although turndown missed on our second night which was a shame. Location is really good for getting around Amsterdam and beyond.

We stayed at the Intercontinental for three nights prior to another tour. The service was great. The location on the canal offered beautiful views and the food was delightful. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially Arnold and Rossana but ALL were great. We enjoyed the show of boats stopping at the dock and getting there food for dinners. The pool looked lovely. I have added some photos of the delicious food.
