Intercontinental Amstel Amsterdam

We were looking forward to our stay at the InterContinental Amsterdam, but unfortunately, the service did not quite live up to what we expected from a luxury hotel. Upon arrival, a staff member at the entrance did not greet us or offer assistance with our luggage. When we asked about a ramp, we were simply told to use the stairs. Only after we had managed to bring one suitcase up did a doorman come out to assist us. We also found the service in the tearoom and restaurant rather impersonal. When we asked for a drink in the tearoom, we were directed to the bar. Later, after dinner, we asked if we could enjoy dessert and drinks in the restaurant, but were again directed to the bar. We found it somewhat surprising that there was no option to sit in the restaurant for dessert and a drink. The young gentleman at check-in was a notable exception. He was warm, pleasant, and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautiful and has an excellent setting, but for a property carrying the InterContinental name, we had expected a warmer and more attentive level of hospitality. Unfortunately, it was the lack of warmth in these small interactions that left the strongest impression on us.

A Beautiful Five-Star Experience in Amsterdam ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Today, on Monument Day, we decided to visit the beautiful five-star Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, and we were so glad we did. The hotel is absolutely stunning, and the guided tour was very well organised. Our guide showed us around beautifully and shared fascinating details about the hotel. After the tour, we decided to relax with a drink at the hotel. Yomi served us our beers with a lovely smile and excellent service. We were also offered peanuts and snacks to enjoy with our drinks, which was a thoughtful touch. Yomi is very friendly and welcoming, and he made our visit even more enjoyable. If you are looking for a beautiful five-star hotel experience in Amsterdam, I would definitely recommend visiting the Amstel Hotel. It was a lovely experience from start to finish! ✨ Rohini ♥️

Amstel Hotel has been continuously run as a Hotel for 150 and has hosted many celebrities. True old world charm with beautiful lobby, wood paneled elevator, and fresh flowers in the hallways. Great location situated on the canal provides canal views from your room, the restaurant and also from the pool. You will have many dining options in Amsterdam but don’t miss dining at the Amstel. The meals are superb we enjoyed Breakfast and we enjoyed our sever George (originally from Greece) at dinner. The room is gorgeous and spacious including the bathroom with glass doors separating the toilet and the shower stall from the tub , sinks and towel warmer, allowing a couple to both use the bathroom at the same time comfortably. Pricey but worth it.

The hotel staff is absolutely top notch. The hotel is situated right on the river and is walking distance to some attractions though a short ride share trip for many. The hotel is clean and has everything you would expect in a 5 star hotel. If you are looking for first rate accommodations this is the place for you. The only downside is that it is quite expensive.

The Intercontinental Amstel is a true classic with a beautiful, detailed lobby and staircase. Most of the public spaces are very nice except we didn’t feel the bar was very inviting. The grandeur of hotel didn’t seem to flow into our room as the furniture seemed tired, the carpet was lumpy and the bathroom had one sink and was a little dark. It’s an old classic hotel so this could be overlooked. Fortunately, we had a river view which made all the difference, and you definitely want to request that. The food was modest except for the yummy warm sourdough bread with lots of butter. We’re glad we stayed here because we like to try the classic hotels in the major cities we visit. A nice stay.
