NH Collection Amsterdam Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky

Went to Amsterdam as part of my wife's 60th birthday year and picked the hotel as being one of the top recommended hotels. I had notified them well in advance of stay and was disappointed that this was not recognised at reception or in the room on arrival, not even a card. A top rated hotel should be on top of these notifications and recognise them in some small way. I had also requested a front square view if available and was allotted an internal view of the roof of the reception area. Still the room was bright and the window could be opened which I always like. Room was clean and spacious and had 3 pin and euro 2 pin plugs along with USB connections and wifi works without a drop. Hotel does not have a luxurious feel of a typical 5 star hotel but the location is right in the centre of Dam Square. Its approx 15 walk from the Central Station, easily done with small baggage. Lift can get busy and some lifts go to different floors from different areas, all a bit confusing to navigate if on a higher floor. On the evening of the first night I mentioned to the front desk that I was disappointed that my wife's birthday was not recognised in some way and returned to room after dinner to an ice bucket and 2 glasses with a bottle in the room. Hotel redeemed itself but the initial surprise was missed. Staff at arrival desk was lovely and concierge was very helpful, one other not so friendly. Overall we had an OK experience, nothing that would stand out as exceptional.

The breakfast buffet was wonderful, with a great selection of delicious food and plenty of options to choose from. What made the experience even better was the amazing hotel staff especially to Edna, Jocelyn, Marilen, Maureen, Rosanna, and to Jessica and to Ramzy who leads the team. The crew was incredibly friendly, welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Their excellent service made breakfast feel extra special and enjoyable. Thank you to the entire team for making our mornings so pleasant. Highly recommended!

Arrived and received no assistance with our luggage. Checked in at reception and then were told we needed to check in at vip centre which was redundant and time consuming. Had problems with our room temp control which was frustrating.

We only went their to have breakfast on my birthday. We went there with a group of girls and they already welcomed us very friendly. They asked us what the occassion was and I told them it was my bday. After that -without a request from my friends- they came to our table to sing a song and handed me a cute chocolate bar. They were very sweet and professional. Thank you Donna, Ramzy, Tini and Martrn for the great service!

Very mediocre “luxury” hotel. Room was nice enough but the king was actually two twins pushed together. Room was very hot, AC very unreliable. They sent up a Dyson fan which certainly proves this wasn’t an isolated incident. We had a suite on top floor with a balcony which was nice, but very confusing to get to…. Needed to take 2 different elevators to get there so at times could take a while to get there ! Stopped in to use bathroom on main floor one day while out and about (since journey to room took so long ) and it was disgusting! No toilet paper in any stall and filthy. Lobby area/bars/ restaurants were very uninviting so we didn’t spend any time in hotel aside from breakfast which was good. Location was convenient and central but in extreme tourist zone!
