Pestana Amsterdam Riverside

The room was fine in the most forgettable sense of the word. Nothing broken, nothing dirty, but absolutely nothing that justified the price tag either. It felt like a mid-range hotel charging premium prices because of the name and the location. Breakfast was a real letdown. The buffet felt like it had been sitting out too long — nothing tasted fresh. They told us we could order eggs, which sounded promising, but they took a full 25 minutes to arrive. By that point you’ve lost interest. If you’re going to offer a cooked option, have the kitchen set up to actually deliver it. It wasn’t a disaster — the place functions, and we weren’t miserable. But when you’re paying €400 a night you expect to feel looked after, and we just didn’t. There are better options in Amsterdam for half the price that would probably leave you more impressed. Wouldn’t return.

Overall the hotel is good, quite large, with a nice spa and a good pool. Staff is helpful, collaborative, and ready to assist. However, our stay was spoiled by the air conditioning in our room not working properly. We stayed only three nights and the first one was really too hot in the room. The AC didn’t function correctly. Actually, they explained that the system is designed that way and can’t go lower than that temperature. They had to put a fan in the room. It was still around 27°C inside with four of us, which wasn’t comfortable at all. After the first night, the Manager Liliana was very kind and actively looked for alternatives. She even offered us another room, though it meant a downgrade since identical rooms weren’t available. Since the temperature dropped as the weather got worse, we decided to stay in that room.

My wife and I stayed in a classic studio apartment for 5 nights and our stay was excellent. We really liked and used the small kitchen facility in the classic studio. It had cutlery and microwave which was very helpful. Hotel lobby was attractive, reception staff was helpful/courteous and housekeeping staff did their job perfectly. The neighbourhood was very peaceful and safe. A good Albert Hejin supermarket is 5 mins walk away where we shopped extensively. Its a 40-45 mins walk from the center. Breakfast spread is okaish and does the job. We didn’t use other hotel amenities. We would definitely stay in Pestana if we visit Amsterdam again.

We had an amazing time at the hotel. The staff were all friendly and certainly catered to our every need. We went with our son. The breakfast was also amazing. It’s a family friendly hotel. Would recommend
