Travelled as part of AMEX FHR. Was not disappointed with the quality of the service, room, breakfast, bar, restaurants and general friendliness of the staff at the hotel. Suite/rooms/ensuites were of high quality. The robes, slippers, towels provided were warming. The SPA and Gym (although not the focus of our stay), were equipped and clean. The swimming pool and jacuzzi bath areas gave a relaxing feel and vibe. A Sauna and steam room, cold plunge shower and Spa dressing rooms, all again of high quality. I do not very often go back to the same hotels but I would to this one without hesitation if I travelled back to Amsterdam.

As a loyal Sofitel guest, I can confidently say Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam is the most luxurious of them all at least that I have tried. The location is perfect—central yet peaceful—and my room overlooking the courtyard and fountain was parfaite. Housekeeping was meticulous—even organizing my vanity, placing caps back on my perfume bottles, and refreshing everything beautifully. Service was truly eexceptional. When guided to the room and I shared mentioned my love for local treats, later found this in my room with a note with what it was (never tried this). Thé bedding was incredibly comfortable soft but I like it, the breakfast was one of the best I’ve had.

Normally wouldn’t write a review, but this hotel needs to be shared online. This is luxury- top notch hospitality to the fullest. All the details are in place. Delicious cocktails, specious room lay out, and located in the middle of the city! The best part that this is in the center and it even holds rich history. The history that is showcased at 11:00 is a must! See the marble and and all that is shown by a sweet lady who left a handwritten note afterwords. The concierge has great knowledge! Normally I try to find hidden gems myself, but I trusted the gentleman and left me with no regret. The choose even matched the temperature outside, since it was cold they sent me to a pancake place to warm up. (I even left a review there). The housekeeping team has such a luxury turn down service what did not want me to leave the hotel anymore. For me this was such a heartwarming experience like I was the only one in the hotel.

We originally booked a stay at the Tivoli Doelen but decided to switch to Sofitel The Grand Amsterdam based on the consistently positive reviews—and we’re so glad we did. From start to finish, we had a lovely experience. We arrived very early in the morning, and to our surprise, the front desk greeted us by name. (They send a pre-arrival questionnaire, so I assume that’s how they knew who we were.) Sophia at the front desk was incredibly kind and welcoming. Since our room wasn’t ready yet, we asked if there was a place to freshen up after our long flight. We were shown to the spa area, which had a small but well-appointed locker room, complete with a shower, makeup mirror, plush towels, hair dryer, etc and even amenities like a toothbrush and comb in case you forgot anything. They also have a pool and sauna in this area but we did not use them during our stay. Our room was ready by noon. I had contacted the hotel in advance to mention we were celebrating our anniversary, and we were told we received an upgrade. I'm not sure what made it an upgrade since we had already booked a canal-view room, but the space was generous and beautifully appointed. There were plush robes and slippers, a small walk in closet, Diptyque bath products, a towel warmer, and a king sized bed. The room was beautiful. We didn’t experience any issues with street noise (we were on the 4th floor), and the room had comfortable air conditioning. From reading other reviews, I know the feather bed inserts aren’t for everyone. It seems the hotel is aware of this, because at check-in they specifically asked if we wanted anything adjusted about the bedding—such as firmer pillows or removal of the feather topper. We were comfortable and didn’t need any changes. We also visited the hotel’s bar, The Flying Dutchman. The bartenders were attentive and professional. I had a fresh margarita (sometimes hard to find outside of US) , and my husband enjoyed a local blonde beer on tap. The service was top-notch, and the setting—while small —was super quaint w/ a charming outdoor area with trees, plants and lovely lighting. The building itself is gorgeous, rich with character and elegance. We honestly wish we had more time to enjoy all the hotel has to offer. This was a true five-star experience. We absolutely loved our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Nothing Grand or Luxury about this hotel at this price. We had a luxury room for family of three. The room and carpets are dated and shabby. The bathroom smell and there is no sink in the toilet. You have to cross the shower area to get to the sink. Just stay elsewhere.

The Sofitel Grand was an ok property. Upon check, I asked about an upgrade, if available, (per your website), they said they gave me an upgrade to a canal view. A very small dark room. Not at all what I expected, a true disappointment!
